She even helped me with an outside project on a day of pure stress and desperation. I wouldn't have "MADE" it without her. Rachel was in and out, and it was lovely to talk to her about her new non-profit initiative as well as to hear her passion for sewing cool things. My favorite part of the class was sewing the invisible zipper. I also liked the regular zipper. I'm so dang proud of the zippers.

They make it so easy to follow along, answer every question (even when you ask the same thing 3 different times) are so patient! The summer of learning cutting-edge web/mobile dev, networking with amazing companies and fellow Horizonites, and bonding in a community of amazing students with like-minded interests (who have also gone on to intern at the best tech companies because of Horizons) gave me a solid leg-up in my tech career. Because of the amazing things you build (replicas of Facebook, Yelp, Trello, are just among a few of the projects you build each week) and the extremely talented and brilliant instructors, you'll come out of this school feeling like you learned more in 2 months than you've ever learned in college. Seriously, once I started recruiting for a software engineering internship, I realized that because of Horizons, I not only was getting way more interest from companies than my peers, but also I was much more prepared for the technical interviews. It was in large part because of what I learned and built at Horizons that I have now gone on as a software engineering summer intern at a Fortune 500 company and have also transferred from my liberal arts college to Northwestern's engineering school for CS. Mainly, the network you build for both life and entrepreneurial ventures is invaluable. I have met lifelong friends and potential startup co-founders and out in the tech world at recruiting events, I have realized that Horizons alumni look out for one another and are proud of their shared experience at Horizons. Also, the co-founders Abhi and Darwish are some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. Abhi has mentored me continuously (whenever I reach out to him, he always finds time to talk with me), and I have even asked him to my school to give a talk because he has so much to offer in terms of solid career advice. Abhi and Darwish are very good people who work very hard (they're always the last to leave the building because they're so dedicated to Horizons), and how they manage to maintain mentoring Horizonites while simulatenously keeping Horizons so efficient and productive is beyond me. This has truly been a cornerstone experience of my life and education, and I can't recommend Horizons highly enough to anyone who is interested in entrepreneuship, learning web/mobile dev, or just want to stand out and get a leg up on technical internships/jobs. But going through such an intense three months gave me great personal and career development. One thing that's special about doing a bootcamp is that as a business student, you can come out the program knowing the same, if not more, about software development as a CS major does. The breadth of material taught me to think about things as specific as a complex sorting algorithm to as broad as architecting a full stack application. And the best part is that the technical skills I learned were just a starting point. I can't believe how far I've come in the year since I did Horizons in my personal and work projects. Besides the obvious programming knowledge that comes with a bootcamp, I think the thing that sticks out the most about Horizons is that their people genuinely care about each student. When I looked at a problem with little hope of solving it, the TAs patiently encouraged me to think about it dynamically until I reached a solution. Knowing the cohort wanted to learn about more than building, the team networked hard to get us speakers that spoke openly with us about their careers and experiences. Months after the program ended, I received support and advice from the founders themselves during recruiting season. Horizons has been the true foot in the tech door I always wanted and badly needed. Go for it, hate it, love it, and be so glad you did it.

They were pushy and pretty insistent that I keep my appointment because of "high"PayPal fees. This rubbed me the wrong way because none of this is posted on their website. Was also told I needed a supervisor to discuss any refunds. She didn't call. When I called back the second day she was again very off putting and warned me of a heavy PayPal fees for getting refunded but didn't know how much the fees are. Now mind you, I didn't use PayPal at all I used my credit card but was told they use PayPal as a third party. (Cop out excuse) and also somewhat shady because any legitimate business would have their own business bank account which doesn't need a third party. I was charged a $35 refund fee. When I called PayPal to ask about this fee they said they had no record of this payment whatsoever and if they had, fees would be on the merchant and not the consumer. This feels like a company who no matter what will take a cut of any money they can get. I will be disputing the final $35 with my credit card company not because of the money but on principle for this shady deal. SIDENote: had a great experience with Defensive Driving Academy and was a fraction of the price that these scammers charge. UPDATED: the owner of this business did contact me and gave me a the rest of my refund. It was obvious she cared to make this right and assured me that she would be communicating with her staff regarding customer service. I appreciated that and have respect for her making good of this situation. She clearly understands good customer service and wasn't wasting any time to resolve this matter.

We were disappointed that most centers were full and required us to be on a waiting list; however, we were pleasantly surprised that Bright Horizons had a spot available for our little one. We met with Laura, the director who insisted that we also bring in our 6 month old. Laura was very warm and disarming as she explained the curriculum and addressed my concerns from properly heating the breastmilk bottles and feeding schedule to when our daughter would be moved to the step up rooms. We are very much hands on parents when it comes to our little girl so we love to engage with the staff and ask how the day went and what the children learned. The instructors were very accommodating in terms of our expectations for our child. I am delighted that this is not just a daycare where I pay someone to change diapers and feed my child, but that there is a clear learning experience for all ages. We have had a couple of hiccups in relation to payment schedule/tuition fees. However, we were able to maintain clear communication with Laura and she was able to resolve those issues. The parents now have an app for Bright Horizons that include drop off notes and hourly updates on feedings, potty/diaper changes, nap times, and the lesson for the day. My last point in this review is that the classrooms are diverse. I haven't met many parents but the ones I see passing in the halls between dropping off or picking up my children are from many backgrounds. It is encouraging to know that this learning center fosters an environment of diversity at such a young age and we are happy to continue to support this education center.

She was a terrible napper at home and feeding was a challenge for me but within a few weeks, her teachers had her taking long naps and eating all kinds of things! They've definitely given me some tips. lol. I could tell that the staff really cared for the kids. Many mornings even the Pre-K and Kinder teachers would greet her by name! And Laura, the site director, has just been fantastic in being available and well-aware of how my baby is developing. It wasn't uncommon that Laura would see me in he hallway and update me on how well my daughter had napped that day or wanted to tell me about a new skill she was trying. Because my daughter started walking at 9 months, Laura worked with her to transition her to a room of bigger babies before her first birthday. This was really key for her because this exposed her to more activities, outside time (which she totally loves) and foods that the younger babes don't participate in. Unfortunately, we had to leave because it was no longer convenient for my commute but we really enjoyed our experience there.
