Road crossings are clearly marked and drivers seemed very polite to allow bikers to cross the street safely. Located right off of highway Route 36 and about a mile from the Historic Twin Lighthouse, Mount Mitchell affords fantastic views of the bay, Atlantic Ocean, Manhattan, Freedom Tower, Verrazano Bridge, Statin Island and Brooklyn. Bring your binoculars or use the coin operated viewing machines. The best photo opportunities require a 500+ mm lens. It's a small park with manicured grounds, paving and a small but nice playground with apparatus to keep the kids entertained. There is a well done 9/11 memorial to those who lost their lives in the twin towers that day. The memorial includes the various towns and the names and ages of those who died that day. There is a time line on the pavers which indicates when the first tower was hit, the second tower, the Pentagon and the plane crash in Pa. .Information plaques can be read concerning the area and Mt. Mitchill. It's only 500 feet off of Route 36 and well worth the 15 minute stop. Locals consider it a romantic spot.

What a great decision! Before we even left for the beach we called SHK and they told us the conditions were a bit too windy for paddle boarding. He advised us to check the Sandy Hook wind forecast before our next trip and suggested wind under 7mph is ideal. So a few days later we tried again. Upon arrival we were greeted by one of the guys who works there. He told us a bit about how the weather affects your time on the water. Then he got our boards ready and explained where we could go. We had a blast but it was one heck of a workout. Midway through our first trip I exchanged my board out for a more stable (larger) one. What a difference! The 1 hour rental is enough time to explore the area and not feel completely beat. We loved our experience so much we went back 2 more times.

And no where outside it says about private property or smth .. maybe we were future customers ? Seriously I have no words .. how we were upset ... They are racist ( we are not white ) !!! I don't recommend no one going there and even don't stop by !!! You will get a so many bad words ...and they will curse you out ... how no one even did in my life ...
