There is no place like Belmont Barber Shop !! My Dad and I have been coming here for over 20 years. As soon as you walk in the door they make you feel like you are family and ask you about how your family is and what's new .. even if it's your first time there they make you feel right at home. It is also great coming here and they know exactly what I like and what works for my hair and beard trim .. not much up on top anymore but they make it look like I do lol. So my dad is going through a hard time and has been at the hospital in Belmont undergoing treatment for depression and PTSD. We live about an hour away, so when my mom and I came to visit him today we found this barbershop on Yelp. I was drawn to the old school vibe and decor, and the reviews looked pretty good...so I thought we could give it a try! My dad hasn't had a haircut in a few months due to the circumstances, so it was long overdue. Literally. His hair was the longest I've ever seen it. The gentleman who gave him the cut went ABOVE and beyond. Honestly. It's crazy what a haircut can do for someone. My dad hasn't been himself in so long, and with that there are physical changes. But the haircut really brought him back just a little bit. The barber even gave him hot towel treatment and a shave. My dad said he hasn't had a shave at a barbershop in 40 years, so he felt like a king. I don't know the barber's name, but he was so kind and chatted with my dad about his Moroccan roots (my dad is Portuguese) so they had good small talk. I'm so appreciative of the dedication and care this shop took with my dad. They maybe didn't notice, but it makes a big difference for us. If my dad needs another haircut while he's staying, we will definitely go back! read more

I really enjoy coming here to get my haircuts, the people working their are very friendly. They are extremely nice and have been around the area for over 8 years i believe. I am very surprised how low-key they are, they are very skilled in different hair cutting techniques. It is great for little kids and the elderly, they have discounts for you if you fit under that category. I have a customer here for over 3 years, and i have never been disappointed with my haircut or service! I trust them so much, that i tell them the overall haircut i want and they will do a great job doing it. "Welcome, My Friend" is the expression you hear every time. Nice Morrocan guys. They're very efficient and what I expect in a barber. Clean and nice cut every time. I'm surprised that I'm the first review because they have a pretty steady stream of regulars on the weekends. The shop is a classic; something out of the 1950's and they don't have to advertise because they have a prime corner. A basic cut is $16 and they do a nice job. I've been going here for years with my grown son ever since he was in high school in Belmont. They do fine work and are always very friendly. My son, who now lives in Cambridge, continues to go as do I. One or two reviewers have complained that these men don't have a good command of English. This is malarkey. If you tell them how you want your hair cut they do exactly as you say. A tip: if you go on Saturday, get there at 8 to avoid much of a wait. I've been going here for years. When I find a barber who can make the unruly mess on top of my head look good, I stick with him. I've never understood why anyone would be 3x or 4x for an inferior haircut at a "beauty salon". I'm not sure what to say about the language barrier comments made by other reviewers. Worst haircut I have ever gotten. My haircut is really simple (trimmer on the sides, short on top). Barber took my glasses off to do the cut so I couldn't really see it evolve. He went Way higher on one side than the other with the clippers and then made the top dramatically different lengths on the top. When he was done, he combed it in a way that I couldn't really tell when I got my glasses back on. The place was really friendly. I really liked the atmosphere. Terrible haircut. read more

This is a great traditional barber shop. Here's why I like it. They have many barbers, and I am happy to have any one of them cut my hair. They all do a great job, and the price ($17) is reasonable. I always tip on top of that. The wait is almost always short (avoiding Saturday morning). I do not consider going anywhere else. Only two small criticisms: the only thing on TV is soccer. Don't plan to catch a Sox game there. The barbers watch what they want. They also talk to each other at times in a foreign language, when all the customers probably speak English. Those are small things compared to their great work, and friendly and professional atmosphere. That's why I only go there for haircuts. read more
