While I can't post about what it's like to go to college at UT (Austin), I can post about experiences I've had. The school which was founded in 1883 is recognized as a top college in the country. It often falls under the category of "the new Ivy League". I have been on campus for everything from protests, the annual Longhorn run, college & alumni-affiliated events, strolling the campus, and a few other things. It has always been a wonderful experience. Faculty, staff, and students alike all boasting their Longhorn pride. Hook 'Em Horns!!! What an extraordinarily beautiful campus for strolling from the lush greens to incredible architecture that's also stood the test of time. Sculptures and artwork adorn the campus throughout, there's always something new to see. Sunday strolls around the campus grounds are one of my favorite things to do.

Would bring up subjects that were irrelevant to the topic we were studying in class. Would go on off topic rants and was incredibly sexist. Examples being bringing up the current election and being surprised when people were upset by the outcome. Calling out women for disagreeing with him when he's bringing up personal topics unrelated to school. Heard him call a woman difficult, opinionated, and disagreeable. Was aware a students parent had passed from cancer and argued holistic medicine could cure all diseases. Then called her emotional and inappropriate when she got upset. There were a lot of teachers airing there personal issues to the class and disorganized in teaching or mentoring for practicum.

We often end up having to teach ourselves instead of getting help from the teachers, which is really frustrating. The lessons are confusing or don't happen at all, making it impossible to keep up. It feels like the school is setting us up for failure, as we are not given the support we need to succeed. Also, YOU CAN'T TALK TO THEM ABOUT ANYTHING; they just don't listen or care. The focus seems to be more on making money than on giving us a proper education. This whole situation makes it a horrible place for students, and it really should be shut down. No one should have to go through this kind of experience when they're trying to learn and grow.

I have gone there for physical ailments such as back pain and joint pain but also for depression as well. It is not a quick fix like western medicine, but keep with it and it works. Acupuncture has been around for ~3,000 years so I'll take it over pharmaceuticals any day. I highly recommend the student intern clinic at Texas Health & Science University. Today I was at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX for an organizational retreat. We met in…read morethe F. W. Olin building which is near the Lois Perkins Chapel. The Olin building has been at Southwestern University for more than 30 years. You can see the combination of the old and new aspects of the building. The classrooms where the retreat was held included auditorium styled rooms about 8 rows deeps a fairly new style. The restrooms while extremely clean are a bit dated. Their design of rooms made it easy to see and hear from any point in the classroom. Audio visuals included the TV monitors, speakers and mics. The acoustics in the room was also good. In addition, parking was super easy and very close the Olin building. It was easy access to and from the building.

I can't say much about the campus itself because we came out specifically for a baseball…read moretournament. That said, the bleachers for this particular baseball field are not comfortable and a tight fit as far as leg room goes. (and I'm 5'4) Maybe bring a cushion, blanket or a towel for some tush comfort. We had an early morning game (9 a.m.) with sun already out and ended up setting the tent up for shade. There are some random areas to each side of the bleachers but more so for smaller tent set up or even lawn chairs in those areas and also near trees/grassy areas for some additional shade. If you plan to sit in the bleachers, come ready with the above stated and even umbrellas. There were a few moms on our team that sat in lawn chairs in front of the first row of bleachers. Not a whole lot of room though. Literally just 2-3 chairs there were set up. I also noticed another tent, maybe two can be set up next to the dug out (first base side). Another tip: bring something to wipe down or brush off your seat. There are Crepe Myrtle trees that shed their flowers onto those seats.

Please do better HT, especially for those kids who are there to learn.

I have been to two community events where this university served as the location: Curly Girls Picnic and the 2018 Keep Austin Beautiful volunteer afterparty. The open fields were well kept and nicely manicured, and the space is large enough to hold a number of tents (ranging in size), vendors and hundreds of guests. Parking is available in an adjacent gravel lot or on the street along side the field. There's also a street/drive up area near the fields, perfect for food truck vendors. Another way in which Huston-Tillotson serves the community is by getting their students involved in Austin area events. I attended a SXSW event this year and the volunteers at the door were students representing Huston-Tillotson. I've also been a longtime judge in a high school youth competition called ACT-SO, and this year our emcee was a student who also represented this university very well. Community service and outreach is something that is very near and dear to my heart, so it's always refreshing when I see companies, organizations and schools serving the communities in which they are apart of. Now I know there have rising tuition fees, etc....but not everyone can go to a university. I've been taking courses for a graphic design certification. Even though you might have a Bachelor's degree, there's nothing wrong in going back to school for enrichment. My dad always told me never stop learning. Also, this particular college campus hasn't given any bad service. Don't let the one and a half star rating fool you.
