Only later did I learn that his creativity was mainly in finding excuses for poor workmanship, collecting deposits as early as possible, and structuring the job so his mistakes became visible only after he had been paid most of the money. Sammy also took money for materials but never submitted a single receipt, and it was obvious he spent nowhere near the amount we gave him. On top of that, I ended up having to pay extra to someone he sent to "finish" the job because he rushed off to another project. I'm writing this review so others can avoid the disappointment, frustration, and wasted money I experienced. There are photos showing the work he is so proud of, and the issues are significant: Tile & Trim Problems * The metal edging is uneven, sticking out * The shower curb is uneven. * The gaps between the shower floor and the walls are to large. * A hole was left at the bottom corner, revealed structural damage to the drywall next to the shower. Improper Finishing * Mortar, grout, and caulk work was messy throughout. Shower Floor & Drain Defects * The shower floor was not pitched correctly toward the drain, causing water to sit and pool. * Tiles around the drain were cut unevenly, chipped, and poorly aligned. * Grout lines of shower floor are irregular and sloppy. * The grout on the shower has a little holes. This level of work reflects rushed, unskilled installation, not professional craftsmanship.

I am now left with a hole in the ground. He kept promising to send out workers, but they never show up. They left the yard a complete mess. Dan Berkey is unprofessional and a pathological liar. I found out that he doesn't pay his workers and has several lawsuits against him pending. Believe he used my money to get his "girlfriend" into the country from overseas and buy another Land Rover. Tim said he'd get back to me and let me know when he could get us on the schedule. That was a month ago. I can't speak the quality of their work, but I can objectively say there is a fair chance the company will waste you time and then not show you the respect of calling you back. I understand if they were too busy for the job or didn't want it for some reason, but not why Tim disrespected us, wasted our time, and acted unprofessionally by agreeing to do the jobs in the first place. I'd recommend starting with another contractor with more reviews and an established reputation of professionalism. Edit: (Post Owner Reply) My review of Hallmark is similar because I had a similar experience. I described my experience accurately and honestly in both cases. You didn't challenge any of the material details of my review. A semantic argument about the definition of "ghosting?" I don't consider you telling me you'd get me on the schedule after accepting your bid and then not scheduling the work "a mutual dodge." I consider it an objectively unprofessional waste of my time. You were secretly offended by me getting multiple bids on a large job? Really? At the time, you said it was fine. I guess that wasn't honest. The bottom line is, attention to small details makes or breaks a job when it comes to home renovation. When a contractor shows you they can't get large details right (Like remembering to schedule your job after meeting and multiple calls discussing the job), that speaks to how likely they are to get the small details of the work right.
