From Paige taking my initial call, retrieving our medical records from our home vet in Florida, Trinity the vet tech and Dr Couture'a expertise and diagnosis, treatments, explanation and expectation for follow up, this was a phenomenal experience. My girl woke to a festering, infectious cyst that was on the verge of rupturing (a known benign cyst for years) and she was licking it and was clearly having discomfort. I got an appointment was seen on time, diagnosed, plan of action, treatment and medication within a half an hour It was impressive ! Today, we had a walk-in visit. It wasn't our usual doctor's day to see walk-ins. We saw Dr. Teagre. Her assistant was Rylie. I was soooo grateful that Rylie had an Australian Shepherd. I was there with my Aussiedoodle. Rylie and I discussed my dog's itch and what food I should be feeding River to stop the itch. It was so wonderful to talk to someone with the somewhat similar breed of dog. Then Dr. Teagre, was the icing on the cake. She was magnificent!! So sweet and we discussed River's itch and she printed out a picture of the specific dog food to feed to hopefully stop the itch. Dr. Sent home with us ear rinse, ear meds and pills. We've dealt with these issues more than once and Dr. and asst. were very caring and gentle with River. They both put my mind at ease to keep River safe and healthy!! read more

I got my Labrador Paisley when she was 7 weeks old. The only vet she has had her whole life is Dr. Katie Frosch. Paisley is now 15 years old and I am so grateful for the expert care she has received. We are approaching our final days together and at some point Paisley will not be with me, but its not today and every day we have left is a gift. I do not recommend Belton Vet Clinic. If you care about your pets living, do not take them here. I boarded my dog, Merle, who has a known seizure disorder and was under this clinic's care. I trusted them to manage a condition they were already treating. During his stay, Merle had a seizure. I was told he would be monitored, but his seizures were not controlled and his condition worsened. More critically, the records do not reflect escalation to appropriate in-clinic seizure management. In veterinary medicine, ongoing or cluster seizures require timely escalation to longer-acting anticonvulsants to achieve control. Intravenous Phenobarbital is commonly used for this purpose. There is no indication in the records that IV Phenobarbital, or a comparable escalation, was administered or even available at the clinic. Because his seizures were not controlled, Merle's condition escalated to the point that he required transfer to two emergency hospitals, where he was treated for acute liver failure from prolonged seizure activity. His care exceeded $10,000. Based on what I was told by the emergency veterinarians, if he had not been transferred when he was, he likely would not have survived. After this, I was told by the clinic owner that I should be "grateful" he was transferred and she heralded Dr. Brongo a hero, as though there were some alternative to transferring him other than him dying. I was still charged for boarding, staff appeared unaware he had even been transferred when I returned, and no one from the clinic ever followed up on his condition or apologized. I filed a complaint with the Texas Veterinary Board, which declined to take disciplinary action against Dr. Brongo. While that was disappointing, I hope that during the course of that investigation she thought about the fact that she almost killed my baby every single day. If I was coming for boarding, shots or something superficial that would be ok. I'm honestly shocked reading some of the negative comments on here, but I can only share my particular experience... I have always found the staff at the clinic to be kind and accommodating. The office staff is very nice from my experience! My dog is very skittish and has to be carried/held as he won't walk on a leash. (English Bulldog, enough said.) They have allowed me to check in by phone and wait in the car until his appointment time... I really appreciate that and I don't know that all vets would do that. We have done scheduled appointments and walk-ins. If you have a walk-in appointment, you're going to wait. That should not be surprising. We have seen Dr. Fish and Dr. Joffrion (and another female vet I can't remember the name of!) They were all kind and knowledgeable. The Vet Techs have all been very nice too. read more

Listen up people...sadly Vets are a service where the staff know we need them and decided to treat patients with very little regard. 2 weeks ago I came in as a walk in because staff said come in before 3pm to be seen. I arrived at 8:30am. What they didnt say was i would have to wait till 4pm be seen. Had an appt today...still had to get put in as a walk in as a walk in. Arrived at 9:20am and dtill waiting with no updates or word as to when. To boot...I was attacked by a dog in the waiting room, the dog actually broke skin....i was bleeding and the staff didnt even offer a bandaid...i had to ASK for it even tho i had blood dripping down my leg. We used them during our dog's pregnancy. We got testing but the Veterinarians had different views on the testing which confused me as a new person to dog pregnancy. There testing wasn't reviewed properly with me and in accordance with my request. I originally requested testing to find out if the babies my dog was carrying would be too big for her to have a normal birth. After the testing I was told an estimate and that they would need to do some more math and get more instruments to give an exact measurement. I'm thinking let's get them. That's what I came for no just an estimate. Then I'm confused what did I pay for? Ok. They now have a vet tech talk with me and then call another Vet. Neither provided the answers I come or paid for. One vet says she'll need a C-section the other maybe not. If I knew the size I could get a more accurate answer is what I'm thinking. I went away scared for my dog and worried about the starting price of $ 2 000.00 for a C- Section but if it's the emergency veterinary the cost could be $4500.00. Spring forward. Thank God my dog went into labor and a breeder of Yorkies came to my rescue. All babies were born and safe and sound. Eight weeks appointment for mom and babies. I usually get a text or call reminder. Nothing. I now have to wait to see if the appointment is today. They don't open to 8:00 am. I call the appointment is at 8:30. I run to get the dog with puppies. I get there at 2 minutes past the required time which is a10 minute grace period. The admin state we will need Doctor approve because you're 2 minutes late. Oh... Ok. She comes back they will see you. Ok thanks. They call the puppies. I state I made the appointment for all, mother and the puppies. Sorry we can't take her another appointment will be needed for her. What? I made the appointment for all. Sorry. Ok if you can't see the mom then I'm going to just go. Ashanti states I'll check with the doctor but you only have 9 mins left of your appointment. What? She continues to talk. Aaah can you go asked before time is up. She still talks. Then weighs the babies and writes it down. I'll be back. Four minutes later...the doctor will see her. Ok. The doctor comes in she's nice but I feel rushed and I'm apologizing for wanting to ask questions. She answers gives my dog her shots, states she's sleeping standing up, I say should I be worried and she's says no then tells me about the paperwork. I ask more questions and pass the puppies for their shots. All finished. I request the paperwork as I'm paying. Got the copies and went out with dog, purse and puppies in hand. I get to the car and notice there's no names, weight or age on any paperwork. What was worst was the vet tech never weighed my dog in order to give her a shot. She used the pregnancy weight which would be more than her true weight. She could have gotten an overdose. This is upsetting. Also, not documenting anything on the puppies is horrible data collection for the owner. Her name is Channel. Her puppies have names and for $300.00 on this visit you could have at the least gotten that down. I going to Austin! Don't play with my babies! read more

The Vet tech was phenomenal and she has a nice future in animal care. I wish we didn't have to include her in the review. She exemplified hospitality. Dr Joffrion was cold and very disinterested. He had the personality of a wet handshake. I have a feeling he isn't fond of gay people. He didn't even know who we were talking about when we told him who referred us even after he looked them up in the computer. I would not go back if they paid me. All they seem to care about is over vaccinating animals and making lots and lots of money on that alone. Over $170 for just vaccines. A total scam. After approx 9 months of visiting the clinic on a monthly basis with my dog for continuing skin infection we finally went elsewhere for treatment. The new clinic immediately did cultures ( never offered at BVC) and we found she had been given the wrong antibiotic for all those months. They also suspected Cushing's might be a contributing factor and she did test positive for it. They also recently changed their scheduling routine which makes it more difficult to get your pet in to be seen in a timely manner and makes it much more difficult for those of us that work. I will say they acted compassionately when I had to put my other fur baby down in September. read more

My only two complaints are: My wife had called in and asked if I could do a walk-in, they said yes but failed to mention there was an $80 fee for doing that...and didn't really tell me that thats what the $80 fee was for. PLEASE READ THIS We took our English Bulldog to get a c section and Dr. Olivia Erskine left a puppy inside! We found out 4 days later when we saw her pushing, basically going into labor. Our Bulldog had a fever of 107°, not only did this clinic put her life in danger, this also impacted her nursing, and we lost 2 puppies. This was negligence. The owner, Katie Frosch, not only excused the behavior (she said she couldn't say much since she didn't perform the surgery, yet this is your business- you should take accountability of the situation and of your staff) but she only apologized AFTER I told her she hadn't done so. Never even had my pet seen as I came in for my appointment and there were soooo many animals in there it was like a zoo and giving me anxiety and my dog was shaking. I was told several people had quit and several doctors had left and just didn't get a good feeling and read the reviews. Not comfortable with leaving my dog there. They wanted $50 for an exam before the dental cleaning I don't know what they're going to do that they need to charge $50 for because it doesn't include bloodwork it's just to talk to you! TL;DR Convenience doesn't outweigh poor quality and questionable ethics. Under the guise of safety, clinic owners are in direct opposition to national vet associations and all 50 state health services rabies vaccination standards for an obvious money grab. Our dogs including rescues have been under the care of BVC since 2016. Since this clinic was extremely close to home, had fair prices, and allowed walk-in visits, it seemed like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, we learned early on you would almost never see the same doctor twice as this clinic appears to be a revolving door for entry-level veterinarians. Still, for routine immunizations and heartworm, this wasn't a big deal. However, this became a problem with a belated dog when an ultrasound was misinterpreted. This was rectified after seeking specialized care via Texas A&M School of Vet Medicine but still left a bad taste in our mouth. We value our dogs as members of our family and have spared little expense when it comes to their well-being. From ear infections to "extra" vaccinations like Bordatella and Influenza, we go out of our way to make sure our dogs are well cared for. However, their health maintenance was questioned at several points over the last few years leading to discussions with an office manager regarding their business practices. Since 2011 rabies vaccinations in Bell County follow Texas State Health Services guidelines, every three years once rabies immunity is established, except at this clinic where they are required annually. This has been challenged by various groups over the years as "over-vaccinating." There is no credible argument for annual vaccination other than to draw in business more regularly to be upsold other procedures and treatments. This clinic's owner is on record in 2009 fighting to keep the previous annual rabies standard but was ultimately defeated. The American Veterinarian Medicine Association (AVMA), American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), CDC, as well as all 50 states recommend rabies vaccination as every three years after one year of age. As stated by the Texas Department of Health Services "states which have changed to a three-year interval did not experience an increase in the number of rabid dogs and cats. No correlation exists between a state's required vaccination interval and its incidence of rabid dogs and cats." It's unfortunate this clinic has chosen this hill to die on after thousands of dollars of veterinary care. Dr. David Joffrion was an absolute rock for our family during the euthanasia of our beloved dog. We will always be grateful for his compassion that day. read more

Ok so i took my dog here that i recently got from the shelter to get neutered we dropped him off everything went well and they told us they would give us a call on how he is doing after surgery. We never received a phone call on how he was doing so we tried calling the front desk to check on him and the phone said they were closed apparently their phone cuts off at 5pm and they close at 5:30. We really wanted to know how our dog was doing after surgery so we drove there and the front desk lady went to go check on him and she said "he just got out of surgery and he's still pretty out of it so he will have to stay the night here" its not a big deal that he had to stay the night but they should've at least gave us a call because we were very worried about our dog. As always Belton Vet Clinic was awesome. We used them previous when we lived in the area and most recently while visiting our dog developed an ear infection and allergies. They got us in as a walk in, helped treat his ear infection, ruled out any other health concerns we had and prescribed us some other meds to help make the move a little easier. Prices were reasonable and the level of care was great, they really seemed to care about our dog even though we were only temporary clients. read more

I would just like to reiterate for a THIRD time how great this vet is. I had the unfortunate and tragic experience of seeing a stray dog be hit by a car that did not stop this morning. I did not know what to do but I could see the poor little thing was still alive and suffering. I picked him up as gently as I could and took him to my vet. Since I brought him in I was financially liable for his testing or euthanasia...a whopping $140 just to put him out of his misery and pain. I was distraught and can't really afford the unprecedented expense but I couldn't let him suffer any more than he already had. The staff was incredibly empathetic and professional. After agreeing to pay, the office manager and vets informed me they would put the poor baby down pro bono since I was just trying to do the right thing. It was an upsetting thing to have to do, but this vet is really great and I just keep having good experiences with them despite the stressful/sad circumstances. read more

Would not recommend! They are terrible to long time, loyal customers and I am betting to many more! We've been going to them since 2014 when they used to be top notch before they old owners sold the practice. Monday my 9 yr old dog woke up and is dragging his back legs. I called to get him but was told they can't see him till Wednesday!!! I told the girl my baby is paralyzed in the back end!! She said I can't change the rules, but you can walk in but it'll be at least 4 hours and have to pay a fee higher than the office visit to walk in. This is the second incident. The first, I brought my dad's dog in for a lump in her shoulder area. The vet looked at her and said the lump was from her shots she received a few days prior. I told him I've never had a dog get a lump from shots, he said it happens sometimes. With that after waiting over 2 hours for a vet to see her, they charged us $125 to see her for 5 minutes only to tell us that that happens. They should have told us that could happen the day they gave the shots. They have completely gone downhill, rude up front, their already high prices have soared again, and they've lost their compassion to care for the animals who truly need them, more concerned about making up money lost from covid I guess. After 8 years they've lost our business and which includes 10 dogs between us, my dad, daughter, and granddaughter. I called a different place, "Animal Medical Care" in Temple. They had us come in immediately, no extra charges, fair prices, and no long wait. The people are very kind and compassionate at "Animal Medical Care". UPDATE: After taking my dog to the new vet, they immediately sent us to Central Texas Specialty and Emergency Hospital. They did an MRI and immediately took him in for surgery. He had herniated discs and had no use of his legs. The neurosurgeon also told me with this type of injury, there was a 48 hr window they had to work in for the surgery to be successful. Thank God I did not wait on Belton Veterinary Clinic or my furbaby would have had to be put down, instead, my Jordan is in the hospital recuperating from his surgery and we are hoping to bring him home for the weekend. read more

How I wish I had read the reviews before bringing my pets to Belton today. Since I was an old customer who had been there hundreds of times, I didn't think it would be necessary. I could not have been more clueless. I did not know that the practice was sold and, in so doing, lost all semblance of the practice it had been. Belton Vet Clinic used to be a country vet practice with very caring practitioners. Costs used to be reasonable and the care second to none. After waiting 3 hours in my car and an hour in the exam room, I was greeted by a very young, snippy and exceptionally condescending vet. I was delivered a very sad and heartbreaking prognosis with no kindness at all. My two year old dog cried from pain the entire wait of four hours. I begged for pain relief. I left with tablet form medications after x-rays and medical tests. Why couldn't my poor little dog have been given a pain injection upon intake? This was torturous treatment by a cold fish of a vet. Shall we speak about the charges? Is that too vulgar? Their charges went from 'country vet' to 'designer vet' I was even charged $20 for a test they were unable to run! RUN! RUN! RUN! I just posted photos of my dear sweet 14 year old pomeranian Sadie. I came early to the vet on a monday morning. Waited in the waiting room for the doctors to arrive. I sat there with my dog dieing in my arms, NO ONE MADE IT A PRIORITY TO GRAB A DOCTOR FOR HER. We waited until 15 minutes after 8am to be seen. The vet said she need to look at Sadie and was going to take her back. The Vet asked me to leave and told me she'd call me. Not more that 30 minutes later I get a call saying she was gone. WTH?? At 5 am she was fine. At 8 am she was gone??? I felt like I had left my baby and didn't get to be there with her in her last moments, she had been struggling to breathe the whole time. AND WE WERE NOT A PRIORITY!! Never again will I take another animal there. Be careful how you treat people when they are losing an animal. If you are thinking of taking your pets to Belton Veterinary Clinic over by the Bell Co Expo Center, don't. They have sold owners at least twice in the past few years and their quality has plummeted as a result. They are incredibly unorganized, they will nickel and dime you until your bill is ridiculous, and they are not knowledgeable on what they are doing. I have a senior pet (13 years), and they did not know to do a senior examination on my pet instead instead of a routine visit. They also suggested that lab work and other preventative measures to explain issues was "there if we wanted it," but completely missed an underlying condition that has been there for years and has gone untreated as such. I have been called and gotten voicemails from them numbering 4 in ten minutes, and the two technicians that would answer would contradict each other. They did not know the dosage for my pet's medication AS THE DOCTOR, and would not give straight answers on treatments or best health. Their line is nearly out the door every time I go, and after they called me four times, I went and stood in line for 15 minutes while the technicians answered the phone, served people behind me and went about doing closing procedures instead of customer service. Take your fur baby elsewhere, to someone who knows what they're doing and doesn't give you a choose-your-own-adventure that costs more than Super Bowl tickets. Disappointed today with Billing and wait time, I took two cattle over this morning only to learn of new changes to the Big animal clinic. Now I learned today they want you to make an appointment for Cattle care. I have been going here for my cattle care for years and this was NEVER the case. Today they would see me on a "walk in" bases" as it has always been in the past,( first come first serve) They charged me $75 for a cow and another $75 for her calf. $150 just to "walk in" ....Then the fees to treat the animals. Good I didn't bring a trailer load of 10 or more or they would have charged me $750 before any treatment. Arrived at 9 35 AM saw the Dr at 1:10 PM Over 3 hour wait that I paid $150 for. The medical care was great. I spoke with them about the billing for the $75 "walk in" fee for each animal and they would do nothing. This used to be the place to bring your pets for medical care. As a matter of fact I had been bringing mine for the last 11 years since I move to the area. They were very friendly and accommodating and they provided the "small town" service and smile, I was accustomed. But lately this place had gone down hill. Our dogs needed to get rabies shots. Knowing by recent, pass experience, the difficulty they are having adapting to the COVID era. We called to make an appointment. We were told not, no appointments as they were seen as walk in. Today we walk in. We were treated like a military recruit on basic training, minus the screaming. We were told that the waiting time was going to be between 2.5 to 3.5 hours. To some people that is a half a day of work, sitting inside a lobby elbow to elbow. So kindly we asked when was the next appointment, the answer, June 1st. We decided to get the Bravecto, which by the way you can only get thru them them as they REFUSED to give you a prescription to buy it somewhere else (assuming they don't like competition) and was told that in the future I needed to have my dogs examined by them before they can dispatched the prescription, which is another way to nickel and dime you. As much as I hate not supporting my local businesses, there is reason why people leave and it is the poor service and the "it's our way or the Highway" mentality". So we choose the Highway. So we went to a well known national chain to get our service done. While this place did not offer same day service, we were offered an appointment for May 12th, (better than June 1st). No hassle, very friendly and they told us we can drop the dogs and pick them up a later, allowing us time, run other errands. Unfortunately, they loss a customer today to a larger business, all because they refused to evolved and crappy customer service. I can't say enough positive about the vets at Belton Veterinary Clinic. The vets are kind and compassionate and made a world of difference when I had to put my dog down. They wouldn't even let me pay the bill but rather said they'd mail it to me, which they did... 3 months later. I think that was on purpose. Giving me time to grieve and space to heal. Just know, when you schedule an appointment, you will be charged $50 at the time and that money will go toward your bill on the day you arrive. Honestly people, you can't schedule and just not show up. Appointments are a convenience and I'm ever so glad they began this process.
