The office did not tell me I qualified for shots only per the contract and I bought expensive drops because everyone guided me toward that option, even the doctor in the consult after the test. Billing does not communicate with staff apparently. I am 100% disabled and qualify for free health care and was told by them too that I could get reimbursed from VA with a receipt. Who wouldn't choose home drops instead of weekly shots? After repeated denials for a refund from anyone, I gave up and resigned to getting shots next. Had a follow up a few days ago where a lighthearted mention of my situation and Billing semantics turned into his imposing egotistical moody "specialist" questioning me because he had no clue what convos Billing had with me and VA. He reduced me to a tearful shaky shell of a person and I kept trying to explain this long story. He called me a liar, and that I insinuated he was a liar, and that staff explained my options. They DID, just not say hey we are solely contracted to give you these shots. And they had no clue about drops reimbursement VA policies anyways. Told him I was so upset I could not rightfully make a decision to do the shots now. No kleenex, no apology, just a "have a nice rest of your weekend." I was so embarrassed and upset. The only nice person through all of this was nurse Jocelyn, at his office.

Too often we found that patients wanted the help but could not afford hearing aids due to the average price ranging from $4000 to $7500 per set, not including the wireless accessories and batteries. We found ourselves dealing with the corporate heads of private Audiology Groups, Retail Franchises and the Manufacturers who never asked how many people did you help this month, but instead asked how many units did you sell this month? Too often finding ourselves being reprimanded if we were honest with our patients with simple facts like: Most Hearing Aid manufacturers get all of their semi-conductors (circuits) from the same circuit manufacturer. Hearing aids typically have the same circuits powering them from the standard to premium levels, manufacturer software controls which features are available at each individual level. After 8 channels hearing aids provide no additional benefit to speech understanding. Finding ourselves at a cross roads the only solution was clear, we needed to start our own company that was dedicated to the patient care while remaining affordable. So we started Network Hearing to create an alternative...

No we didn't have an appointment which the lady said we needed to make. We live 70 miles away. First said she was busy with a customer snd we could wait. Then she gave us instructions on how to do it ourselves. While we were trying to figure it out she came back and said she couldn't do it because you needed Wi Fi and they didn't have it in the store. Despite…read morebeing told that I contacted the insurance company prior to appointment and I know what the insurance payment will be and my maximum out of pocket expense, Miracle Ear estimated a lower payment from insurance and required a larger payment from me. Miracle Ear refused to honor their contracted Preferred Provider Discount with my insurance company and instead over charged me. Miracle Ear used a confusing hand written billing statement with numbers written over other numbers to calculate payment due. Miracle Ear did not provide an itemized billing statement, even after receiving payment from insurance company. Three months after the appointment I requested an itemized billing statement in person which they printed for me. The statement noted patient payment and insurance payment amounts with a note of an over payment of $1700 and in capital letters DO NOT REFUND UNLESS APPROVED BY ALICIA. When I asked about the overpayment, I was told that they were aware of it (for at least 2 months based on the date of the notation). No one contacted me about the over payment. I realized the over payment when I looked at the EOB from the insurance company. I asked for communication several times from Alicia, the insurance person for Miracle Ear, and she refused to call or email me. My insurance company said that we were over charged and tried to call Alicia only to be told, "someone is looking into it" and they never got a call back. Amber, the hearing instrument specialist, insists that they do not need to return the overpayment that they charged me over 4 months ago. Miracle Ear was upset that the insurance company paid MORE than they estimated and they charged me MORE because of their low estimate of insurance payment. They received $1700 more in payment (from insurance and patient) than they could legally charge for the service because of the Preferred Provider Discount, which they were contracted to honor, but refused. I'm sure they have over-charged other patients, but did not get caught.

Since 2020 however, I have seen a rapid decline in care at the emergency department. Since starting college, I've had to make trips to the ER on roughly 5 situations, mostly heart related, and most recently for a concussion. The last 3 times I've gone in have had terribly similar end results; showing up with emergent symptoms, waiting upwards of half an hour to be triaged, and a minimum of 2 hours before seeing a doctor. Today, I was waiting for 3 hours to be seen, brought back and was set in the hallway, and sat there an hour before Dr. Aaron Triplett came to tell me that they would not be running any tests, didn't even check me out to see what had happened that caused the concussion. This is following a previous visit to urgent care in which I was initially diagnosed with the concussion, and was told if symptoms continued to get worse to go to the ER immediately for a CT and MRI. After a few days, symptoms continued getting worse, my vision fading from blurry to shaky, pain level increasing exponentially throughout each day, and having more symptoms pop up before going to the ER today. After 3 hours of waiting, I was more than just let down that the people who's job it is to take care in being thorough, will be willing to cut corners and outright deny looking into why my walking has now gotten to be borderline scary, feeling like I'm going to fall every step. But they'd rather have one less patient to deal with, so they sent me home with nothing more than a lighter wallet. Would not recommend the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic Eau Claire
