We followed up with his office by phone multiple times and were consistently blown off by his nurse who indicated that she was checking in with him and her responses and advice were coming directly from Dr. Cristel. My daughter hemorrhaged days after surgery and required emergency surgery. She lost a huge volume of blood and it was a terrifying experience for her and us. The ambulance took us to the nearest children's hospital ER as fast as possible. Her emergency surgery was completed by that hospital's surgeon as soon as we arrived and they could prep her for surgery. She was in the OR within about an hour. She was vomiting large quantities of blood the entire time and was very scared and traumatized. Dr. Cristel made no effort to even check on our daughter after he was aware of what happened. At our follow-up appointment he was disengaged and dismissive at best. At worst, it felt like he did not have any concern for what happened to our daughter. We were extremely lucky to live close to an ER associated with a children's hospital, have excellent paramedics, and an unbelievable ER and emergency surgery team. They saved our little girl.
