They suggested that we take our walk past Belt's and get a sweet treat too. I had never been before, so I was down. I was not expecting to come here so I was unprepared and didn't have any cash (or a debit card). They have an ATM nearby for you, but my friend ended up paying for me, like a gaht dang white knight. We each got whatever was their special of the day, which was a pineapple whipped milkshake thing. It was super tasty and a great summer sweet treat. Yummy soft serve ice cream! Had the cherry cheesecake flurry and it was sooooo good. Nice amount of cheesecake chunks and the cherry was mixed throughout. Service was quick and friendly. Huuuuge portions at a great price. This is a Stevens Point establishment that we had to stop by and visit while in town. I got the banana cream pie flurrie and was advised to get the small size or I would regret it. Even small was too much for me! It also came topped with a mountain of whipped cream. The banana flavor was strong but I felt that the texture of the soft serve mixed with wafers was a bit too unpleasant. I wouldn't get this flavor again. To be honest, soft serve is basically the same anywhere. Except Dairy Queen, which is somehow less than acceptable. In any case, Belt's is well worth a visit on any hot summer day. Expect the small to of a size that requires quick and determined licking in order to keep it from melting all over your hand. I get to have Belt's maybe once a year or every other year when I play in the trivia contest with my family, which is normally opening weekend for Belt's. It is always super busy but I am always impressed with how fast they make their ice cream and service the customers. So many options, specials that look sooooo good. This place is an institution in Stevens Point. We always hail the start of Spring with the opening of Belt's. Opening day is always a big deal with a big crowd. Point is a small enough town that we find ways to work around the fact there is limited parking in the area around Belt's. Really, you never question the fact you can drive to any part of Point from any other part of Point, if you have to or want to. They give you a lot of ice cream for your money. I'm boring and just like chocolate, but what difference does that make? They have chocolate. They also have a lot of other flavors and come up with new (strange) creations on their menu all the time. They're often staffed by college kids, but then, so is almost every other business in Point. You may have to deal with a long line because this place is so popular in Point. But if you have some friends with you, and the sun is up, it's not such a bad way to spend a weekend. read more

I almost went with 3 stars because I'm bitter about how much prices have increased since I started going as a little 4th grader (over 15 years ago) and I don't like the reminder of getting older so quickly and paying more for my ice cream. Yes- hard ice cream with all those fancy flavors sure is great. But on a hot summer day nothing beats a soft serve twist cone that drips onto the outdoor tables and no one could care less about the mess. Also, they started having a flavor of the day a bunch of years ago (bubble gum, pistachio, a whole host of other gross-sounding flavors) but the best days are when they have fresh strawberries or raspberries for sundaes. I think we are an exception to the rule with this place. From what I understand, this is a local favorite. We visited when in town with a friend who raved about it. The line was long, but that's to be expected on a summer afternoon. Ordering was a little chaotic and the menu isn't really that straightforward, if you've never been there before. We tried the "flurry" per the recommendation of our friend. While they are extravagant (large in size and lots of extra toppings), I was left disappointed. I felt the ice cream was grainy and overly sweet. The prices were fair, but we've had way better ice cream. Perhaps I'd try just the plain soft-serve next time if we visit again to give them a fair shot. read more

We have been coming to Belt's for about a decade now and it is definitely an awesome place, with ever changing seasonal and special items. Also, be warned that they make huge cones. A small here is about the size of a large anywhere else. One of these days, I'm going to try to take down a large cone. Sometimes the line can get long to order, but the staff does a good job to keep the line moving at a good pace to minimize any wait time. 1 thing I would like to see improved is putting more mix ins into the shakes/malts/flurries.
