This was my first time to Crystal Cafe. I was visiting a friend in Iola and he suggested that we stop here for lunch. The first thing I noticed when we pulled up was the Pies 2 Die 4 sign. It definitely captured my attention. The inside of the cafe is very nice with brick walls, wood top dining tables, an old school dining counter, and a nice assortment of antiques, wall decorations, and historical photographs. It's very comfortable. I felt like I was walking back in time. Service at this cafe is outstanding. We were seated and had our drinks within a couple of minutes. Both the host and our server were small town friendly and very attentive. I had the heart stopper burger; two farm fresh hand made burgers with cheddar, Swiss, caramelized onions, pickles, bacon, mayo on the side, and homemade French fries. It was the best burger that I have ever had here in Wisconsin. The flavor and juiciness of the burger were deliciously incredible. Our server informed us that they mix all their meat in-house using the highest quality locally sourced beef. I would also like to mention that this cafe has been in business for 75 years. Unfortunately, I didn't have any room left for pie, but they have a large selection of pies that are made fresh in-house. They also have a nice selection of homemade jams. I fell in love with this cafe the moment I walked in the door. Wonderful small town hospitality at its finest. And the food, well, words do the food very little justice. You are simply going to have to experience this cafe for yourself.

This is an incredible example of a small-town diner making great food. I've eaten two meals here so far and they both have been top-notch. You can taste that they start with quality ingredients, and they're quite skilled in the kitchen. The pies are outstanding. The pastry crust is terrific and they offer a fantastic selection of pie. I actually like the huge U-shaped counter in the middle of the restaurant. Grab a stool and a server will be with shortly. And then there are tables scattered off to one side also if you require more seating. Don't hesitate to give the Crystal Café a try. I would drive out of my way to eat here. One last tip: while the pie list is extensive they do run out of certain things (pie and menu specials) by the end of the day. So if you want the most choices possible, plan to get there earlier in the day.

Stopped in for a late breakfast today, we're camping at Lake Emily. Great friendly service and nice decor. I had the Farmers Skillet and my wife had a Philly Omelette with a side of American Fries both were excellent and the portions are big enough to save for breakfast tomorrow. We also got a slice of apple pie but we haven't tried it yet! Their slogan is "Pie 2 Die 4"

An overall pleasant experience. Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday night. My wife had the veggie omelette and I had the Jay Jay burger with a cup of cowboy chili and fries. The burger was cooked just right. The chili was listed as spicy but was not overwhelming spicy. Good taste. The fries were hot but could be a little more crisper. The sèvice was great. The waitress had to deal with 7 to 8 tables at one time through the course of our hour there and was considerably busy doing so, but she was able to handle it. Friendly customers willing to chat. My wife loved the omelette along with the chocolate pie she had and I enjoyed the rhubarb pie as well. The atmosphere is small town diner and friendly. Parking along the street in front and I believe in back as well, judging from the people who came in the back door. Going back: absolutely.

One of my favorite diners in the country! This is home cooking done right. Make sure you take home a jar of homemade jelly or one of their amazing pies My favorites here is the farmers omelette. This thing is a beast. Eggs sausage and a mound of hash browns. So good. I doubt you'll finish it. And the staff is always super nice.

This delightful cafe lives up to it's reputation! The chicken salad sandwich was loaded with chicken and wonderfully seasoned! The Chicken Pot Pie soup was nice and hot and full of veggies and chicken...plenty filling! Be sure and leave room for dessert as the pies are to die for! A list of about 20 flavors made it hard to choose but we went for the mile high banana cream and a slice of blueberry peach.....time for a nap now!

I wish I didn't live so far away... I LOVE their pies. A family member (local) brought us to this place when we went to Wisconsin and boy did we love the pies. We only had room for dessert but if I had more time (or space in my stomach!) I would've loved to try more of their food. Definitely great food at good prices, great staff as well!

Here's a place with a commitment to super high quality, better than average cafe fare, at a good price and friendly service. I always stop here whenever I go into upper WI to fish.

We arrived around 9 am on a Wednesday and it was very busy--they had already sold out of one of the breakfast specials. That said, we were still seated right away and had water and our chosen beverages in front of us in a jiffy (and my coffee was topped off regularly). Dawn was our server and she was very pleasant and helpful when I had a question about the menu. My guy had two blueberry pancakes with bacon, and I had biscuits & gravy with hash browns. The pancakes were fluffy and satisfying, and the biscuits & gravy were packed full of flavor. LFG's breakfast was delicious, and a great price!

The staff were as friendly as they can be and made us feel like regulars, regardless of it being our first time in. We visited for a late breakfast with multiple kids (4 years and younger). The staff kept all the adults caffeinated and went above and beyond to make sure the kids had a great experience! (Ie, making sure they had drinks, plenty of napkins, and ever some cookies after they ate) The food was all very good! The table got a verity of options and all plates were left empty. You can really tell that this dinner puts in effort with their food. They even offered numerous HOMEMADE baked goods like breads, pies, cakes and cookies that's to their on-site baker. I will be returning to cozy kitchen in the future whenever I am in town visiting family. I highly recommend you visit if you're looking for someplace cozy to eat.

Solid breakfast- eggs cooked just as ordered- no complaints. Love a runny egg- and dip their homemade toast in it- yum! Mexican scramble was tasty - chorizo not greasy. Hash browns were nicely crisp on outside- and plump inside. Nice portions- in our minds. If I could give it 4 1/2 stars- I would. (And you might run into UWSP hockey players at breakfast!)

Service was also friendly and super efficient, with food made quickly. We were also happy to see there was a steady crowd coming in on a Tuesday night and the staff had no problems making sure everyone was taken care of. We started with the Taste of Manila Egg Rolls because we were so excited to see that something lived on from that restaurant which we miss. The egg rolls were quite tasty and the slaw and sauce just pulled everything together. For our main meals we had the M&O Melt with onion rings and the Red Hot Spicy Clucker with fries. I was happy the the spicy chicken sandwich actually had some heat to it and was full of flavor. The fries were also nicely fried. The M&O Melt was also tasty, and the onion rings were a favorite. Fried nicely so that they had a crunchy bite. It's always a plus when the onion doesn't come out all at once or separate from the breading. These were quite tasty and we definitely recommend the curry ketchup. It added a whole new flavor dimension to the onion rings and fries. Overall, can't wait to try some more menu items next time we're in the area. Definitely recommend.
