Wow. This place is expensive. Their small is what I would call a kiddie cup and it's $7.00. I got a large in a cup and asked for a sugar cone on top and the cone was an extra charge.

We walked here after eating lunch and honestly I was shocked that they had a Ben & Jerry's in Savannah. As soon as we walked in we were pleasantly greeted and given a sample of our choice. I only needed one sample to know what I wanted and I was very pleased! The store was clean which allowed me a chance to sit down and enjoy my ice cream and I appreciated that. I would definitely come back here whenever I get that sweet tooth for ice cream.

Ben & Jerry's is in the list of my top two creameries. I normally buy it at a grocery store, but sometimes visit their retail stores, such as this visit. My daughter and I enjoyed a Daddy-Daughter dinner out and decided we needed to find some good ice cream. The standard desserts on the menu just weren't going to cut it at the dinner restaurant. We headed out to Ben & Jerry's for some premium ice cream. This is in a great location downtown Savannah on Broughton street, in the middle of the shopping and restaurants. We tried two new flavors on this visit (at least new for us): - Salted Caramel Blondie: sweet cream base with chunks of blondie brownie and swirls of caramel - Sticky Toffee Cookie: Brown sugar ice cream base with brown sugar cookie chunks and a toffee caramel swirl. Both were really good, and recommended. However my top 3 all time favorite flavors remain: - Chunky Monkey - Cherry Garcia - Coffee Coffee Buzz Buzz My wife and I visited their creamery in Vermont ages ago (1999). Their company's secret is their technology and methods for incorporating large chunks of delicious add-ins to their ice cream. They aggressively protect it and didn't even let us take pictures on our creamery tour. Ben & Jerry were huge philanthropists and took good care of their farmers that sourced their cream. Ben & Jerry actually sold their business ages ago and I hope the company carries on these traditions.

Man, this Ben & Jerry's was a let down. The pro is that I was the only person in line so I was waited on immediately, but maybe I should have taken that as a sign to stay away, but I gave it a go. I ordered a milkshake and unfortunately there was no shake and all milk. It was super runny and really was like a glass of milk with some stuff inside of it. Almost as if it had sat out for a long period of time which I knew it hadn't as it was made fresh. At around six dollars it was really a let down to get something like that and be so unappealing. Definitely a one and done situation from me. Maybe if you like your shakes to be super runny, this is your place, but for me I need a least a little tug when you are trying to drink a milkshake. This was a big disappointment for me.

This is a single scoop serving waffle cone which was soggy.

How can you screw up a Ben and Jerry's waffle cone? Charge 8.00 for a soggy waffle cone that has a tiny scoop of ice cream. Should have waited in the long line at Leopold's. Leopold's ice cream is worth the wait and the quality is far superior. The interior was absolutely nondescript.

Always the best ice cream. The place looks a little rough inside - but the staff were really great.

Okay, here's what. Long post warning! My mom called and placed an order over the phone the morning…read morebefore my birthday. I heard her describe the type of cake she wanted (butter pound with butter cream icing, pink and green colors, etc) I also heard her state a time for pick up the next day which was set for 10 AM. Issue #1. You must pay for the cake upon order or else they will not make you a cake. This is not exactly a big deal, but I guess there are just too many people prank calling for cake orders these days. Weird. The morning of my birthday, I jolted myself outta bed to check the time on the clock. Oh nooooo, it was 10:15 and my cake was ready fifteen minutes ago. I jumped up threw on something and hot tailed it to Ms. Polly's Ogeechee Rd. shop. I was pleasantly greeted as I took a seat for the man behind the counter to settle himself for he was running to and fro as if he was busy about some other business. He asked me for the name and I gave it to him. He checked the orders on the shelf, but nervously looked up and rushed into the prep room. He reappeared to verify the name and then asked when was it promised. I told him at 10 this morning (It was now 10:40.) He said, "No, it couldn't have been ten o'clock because we don't open til 10." He went back to the kitchen and reappeared with a piece of paper saying, "No, I have it right here, and it says 12:00 this afternoon. I wrote it down." Issue #2. Pretty obvious from that scenario. So I left annoyed because now it was getting into the way of MY DAY's plans. But what can you do? At 12:25, my mom received a call from Ms. Polly's stating that the cake order was ready. Since I was sitting in the same room, I immediately grabbed my purse, but my guy took me to have a bday lunch first. We were out at least 1.5 hours before we arrived back at Ms. Polly's to pick up the cake. At this time, the bottom of the sky let out a huge downpour of rain, so my man ran inside to retrieve the cake. When he returned the man told him that he had been calling since 11:00. Issue #3. Eye roll Now the taste... The cake was decorated with pretty colors, but the way the icing was spread looked a bit amateur. It was a two layer cake with icing in the middle which made it insanely too sweet, so for you all who scrap the excessive icing on you slice of cake, be prepared! Overall, I can't say it was a terrible experience because it wasn't, but I would love to have a butter pound cake in a single layer with butter cream icing. They said they don't make those. :-/ I give them an extra star for at least being polite through the process.

I had a chance to visit Miss Polly's cake Giants the other day while in the neighborhood picking up…read moresomething from quickies, which is right up the street. I had noticed this establishment a couple of times before, but it wasn't open so today was my lucky day. One note in terms of parking. You should either park in the parking lot adjacent to the building or across the street as there isn't parking on the near side of the building. The day I walked in, there wasn't anybody else in the shop and I was actually greeted by the owners two young kids. They have several types of cake and cheesecake available for sale and I chose the red velvet and the carrot cake. I really enjoyed the Red Velvet. It was a traditional version, with really rich flavor and great icing. The carrot cake, while made really well, was on the stale side, so that wasn't the best version. Price to value was also decent with the per slice price somewhere at around 7 1/2 dollars because I paid a total of almost 15 for the two slices. For the size of the slice I would say it is a bit more on the expensive side, but I also get it because the price of ingredients are up as well They also offer custom order cakes and desserts so if you need that option, I would try them out. Ultimately, this is not a destination bakery for me because I live more than 20 minutes away, but I'll definitely be trying them out again in the future when I am in the area.

My first encounter with Sweet Whimsy Shop's (SWS) cake pops were at my friend's son's 1st birthday…read moreparty last year. I couldn't believe the attention to detail and wondered how its creator was able to put that kind of detail on a tiny, bite-sized cake lollipop and make it taste so good too! Was it done by magical cake pop fairies? I wanted to know! My friend gave me their Insta account and after scrolling (and drooling) through their countless creations, my obsession began!  After some time, I had heard they were doing a pop-up at Ways Station Coffee Co. in Richmond Hill for the coffee shop's 5th Anniversary Party and Big Bon Pizza was going to be there too. With my family in tow, we headed to the event excited to try coffee, pizza and cake pops! I mean, that sounds like a perfect meal, right?! I was SO excited! Well, we arrived about an hour after the event started and SWS had SOLD OUT! I mean, was I surprised? No. Was I disappointed? Uh, heck yeah! When was I going to eat these delicious little pops again? I bumped into another friend that night and I guess she arrived at the start of the event, probably because she knew better and she was able to snag a bunch of SWS' cake pops. I almost offered to pay her double, but refrained, because quite honestly, she would have probably told me NO! LOL. So I left with only coffee and pizza that night (insert sad face and some sniffles). So fast forward to my most recent encounters. SWS was organizing an event with Megan Myrick Photography over the summer called Christmas in July, so this time, I vowed to arrive on time! Well, the early bird gets the worm because I was able to secure four cake pops, and thank goodness because if I had come home empty handed after promises of cake pops, well you know what the outcome of that would have been! I was able to meet Becca, the cake pop artist (the "fairy") behind the edible art cake pops and this time, the cake pops were in a mini ice cream bar form in a Christmas theme with three in a pack. I got a fourth one that was in the shape of a Hot Chocolate cup character. The other time, we went to a grand opening of Kidzways and they had commissioned SWS to make the cake pops for the occasion.  Becca is just so incredibly talented, just scroll through her Insta and she's so humble about it too. If you are a cake pop enthusiast or aspiring cake pop artist, she posts behind-the-scenes videos on how she makes some of her pops. She makes it look so easy! As previously mentioned, on top of her beautiful and sometimes quirky designs (like Thanksgiving turkeys, flamingos, seahorses, YODA!) her cake pops are delicious! She does not compromise on taste nor quality and you can taste it! She bakes her cakes and whips icing from scratch and then molds these labor intensive cake pops into whatever vision you have (she has)! Her prices aren't too crazy either, considering how much work must go into those things. I literally cannot stress the details of these little delights on sticks (see pics).  And one last thing, her cake pops have been on The Late Late Show with James Corden. I mean, she's kind of a big deal and she's right here under our noses!   - Tips -  If you can't wait for a pop-up, you can also order through her website, but I imagine there is a minimum quantity, but plan ahead, because she books fast! I also noticed recently that she offers Cake Pop decorating classes at Kidzways, and I know that sold out as well, but if you want to see the artist in action and get a few tips, that may be your chance!
