Went on a Friday afternoon and only 1 other family was there. The employees were very nice and patient with our toddlers, great service there. I was impressed with the selection of flavors they have for the ice cream, all of the popular flavors are available and some "seasonal varieties" as well. Phish Food is my favorite. I chose the brownie special (on the sundae menu) with "The Tonight Dough" flavor. The brownie is very filling; in hindsight, I wish I'd chosen a lighter ice cream flavor as it was all a bit too rich! Such a fun location overlooking the water at Yorktown Beach -absolutely scenic and amazing. As many times as I've been to the area, I've never stopped inside. Here's the scoop... if you are craving a cool treat while walking on the Yorktown boardwalk, this is your place. They have plenty of outdoor patio seating with umbrellas. Inside is rather barren, but the choices of ice cream are fun and unusual. The line was long and they clearly needed more help. It's expensive for a scoop, but the flavors are intense. I was there as a tourist and I spent 20 dollars worth of ice cream ask for a cup of water she gave it to me I went to ask if I could have another cup and she denied it. In all my life I have never been denied a cup of water she was very rude. What human does that really it's water not bottle water faucet water. This B&J's is located along the river in historic Yorktown. The humidity was horrendous, so ice cream was exactly what the doctor ordered. The employees greeted us immediately upon entering and even though there was a line, it moved quickly. The employees all worked together like a well-oiled machine. There was a great selection of different flavors, as well as different dipped cones to pick from. You have your choice of seating inside, or outside. The outside seating is right along the sidewalk, so it's great for people watching. Great experience, can't wait to return. read more

The almond brittle ice cream tastes like almond extract. It was horrible . And the waffle cone was stale. The prices are high but you are paying for the atmosphere . I asked for a cup of water and was pointed over to the corner to the community jug. One look at how dirty the push spout was and I would not get any water from it. Yorktown Beach is my happy place. Even though I had a baby in May, I still made it down here three times this summer. Of all the times I've been down, I've never stopped at Ben and Jerry's. No particular reason why; I just haven't. Yesterday, I decided enough was enough. I'd been wanting a brownie sundae for about a week and finally went to go get it. They actually call it a brownie "special". A young boy helped me and he was so nice. I loved watching him work hard. Thumbs up to his parents! Anyway, I got my sundae with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, and rainbow sprinkles. What I love most about this sundae is that the brownie was SO. GOOD. It was chewy. It was moist. It was plentiful. It was everything I need in a brownie and more. The ice cream was just alright. I would have appreciated a fuller flavor, but still, it complimented the brownie well and I enjoyed every bite. Now, why 4 stars? This bowl of bliss costed me a whopping $8, almost $9. After reading all of the other reviews here, it seems like I'm not the only one shocked by this. I will still get the sundae though. It was that good. Wide range of choices for top quality ice cream. You don't come here to cut calories, you come here for the real deal. I was impressed with the large selection of smoothies, milkshakes and coffee drinks as well. The setting at Riverwalk Landing is beautiful. I came on a cold and blustery afternoon, so enjoyed the river views from inside the dining room, but during the warmer months it would be perfect to grab a cone to go and stroll along the water. Prices are a tad higher than you might pay elsewhere (my 1 scoop was a little under $4), but much better quality-wise than many other ice cream chains. They have freshly baked waffle cones that looked yummy. I also appreciated that they had free self-serve water. UPDATE (6/25/14): Prices appear to be seasonal. Who doesn't like a good ice cream cone when you're just a few steps away from the water? I had the chance to try their non dairy ice cream selection made from almond milk. The ice cream was good, but this place gets 1 star due to their food handling practices. 1) watching one staff member take filthy money and scoop ice cream right after without washing her hands was nauseating 2) staff member two would stick her entire arm and head in the freezer to gather a scoop but she had no hair net as she hovered her entire body over the ice cream in the freezer, not to mention her hairy arm would be covered in ice cream. The workers here look miserable and if you take too long to decide what flavors you want they'll fill it up with the first flavor you say and then move on to the next person. We were able to stop at the Ben and Jerry's after lunch. Wanted to get a cone and walk the Yorktown riverfront. Son had a large on a waffle, husband regular on sugar cone, myself regular in a cup and the youngest son a large in a chocolate waffle. We paid, went outside, crossed the street and stopped to see the view. The ice cream was already melting all over my sons hand within a few minutes. He had to gobble it down while it was dripping down his arm and all over the sidewalk. I have never had that experience before with any ice cream. Made the experience no fun at all. Not sure if the ice cream was too soft or what. Our order was $29.00 and some change. Quite expensive for ice cream. read more

Nice little chill spot at Yorktown Beach. It gets pretty full in the summer and for a good reason! The staff and of course the ice cream is delicious. I don't come to Ben and Jerry's often but I do go to the beach/bay area and once in a blue moon I'll make my way down here for a little treat. Staff is nice, there is wifi and this location is open year round unlike some other nearby by shops and restaurants. While the place works it is your typical Ben and Jerry's and probably the closest storefront for miles up on miles. Overall, good ice cream and nice people in a semi-clean environment for the majority of the year. Not my favorite ice cream but definitely good stuff. read more
