A little pricey, but ridiculously tasty. There's a wide range of ice cream to choose from that includes sorbets and non dairy ice cream - so there's something here for everyone. Green mountain coffee is also available, so if you fancy a specialty latte or another type of coffee instead of ice cream, they've got you - but there's also milkshakes for those warm summer days. I chose the brownie special (on the sundae menu) with "The Tonight Dough" flavor. The brownie is very filling; in hindsight, I wish I'd chosen a lighter ice cream flavor as it was all a bit too rich! Friendly staff full of smiles welcome you the moment you set foot through the front door. Seating is available both inside and outside, with lovely views of the riverwalk. Not somewhere to spend your life in or your bank account will slowly creep to red - but definitely a "treat yoself" spot.

Quick stop in on a very hot day!! Beautiful place and nice people . Me and the guys got us some Waffle Cones and enjoyed the good conversation throughout the place.

Such a fun location overlooking the water at Yorktown Beach -absolutely scenic and amazing. As many times as I've been to the area, I've never stopped inside. Plus, Ben and Jerry's is my favorite ice cream brand. Silly me! The staff here was friendly and kind. I couldn't decide on what I wanted so they were super patient. The ice cream was superb, of course. If you're looking to beat the heat during a fun day at the beach, this is the place to go! The seating indoors and outdoors is spacious and clean. I'm going to have to stop in more often! Great job, guy

Here's the scoop... if you are craving a cool treat while walking on the Yorktown boardwalk, this is your place. They have plenty of outdoor patio seating with umbrellas. Inside is rather barren, but the choices of ice cream are fun and unusual. The line was long and they clearly needed more help. It's expensive for a scoop, but the flavors are intense. I had a raspberry sherbet that was refreshing and tangy. It's ice cream! You can't go wrong here!!

All I'm going to say is it cost $15.35 for two SMALL cones. I could buy three pints full price for that amount!

Wide range of choices for top quality ice cream. You don't come here to cut calories, you come here for the real deal. I was impressed with the large selection of smoothies, milkshakes and coffee drinks as well. The setting at Riverwalk Landing is beautiful. I came on a cold and blustery afternoon, so enjoyed the river views from inside the dining room, but during the warmer months it would be perfect to grab a cone to go and stroll along the water. Prices are a tad higher than you might pay elsewhere (my 1 scoop was a little under $4), but much better quality-wise than many other ice cream chains. They have freshly baked waffle cones that looked yummy. I also appreciated that they had free self-serve water. UPDATE (6/25/14): Prices appear to be seasonal. I went in the other day and the price for a scoop had gone up to $5.

They had several delish non dairy icecream options, the staff was friendly, and it's a darling location. :)

She was unresponsive to emails and calls, missed appointments and did not follow through with anything promised. None of the food was as presented or described and was extremely disappointing. She showed up 2 and 1/2 hours late on the day of the wedding without even a phone call, and our calls went right to voicemail that was full. The entire day was rushed because of her tardiness and unpreparedness. The wedding party that should have been inside with hair and make up were outside decorating because we did not know whether or not she was even going to be there. The bartenders were not set up or prepared because they had to help cook, wedding guests were helping themselves prior to the wedding as the bar was unattended. The timeline of events was all off including the bridal party entrance to music selected. Our "Wedding Coordinator" was no where to be found during the cake cutting, toasts, first dance, or fireworks send off as she had essentially "checked out immediately after the ceremony. She was supposed to come back the next day to assist in taking down the lights and decorations that were put up but the groom and family had to do that as well as she showed up by herself with no help after the time we were already supposed to have vacated the venue. Of course she had required that we pay her in full prior to the event and we are now sorry that we ever hired this business. The worker at the register was rude. In the middle of me ordering, she interrupted me and yelled out someone's name to say their order was ready. A friend of mine also ordered from Piha Aloha today because of my recommendation, and the worker was rude to them as well. I also asked for a side of poke since I've gotten that here before (as pictured in my last review from a month ago), but I was told they don't do that and that a half-pound ($14) of poke was the only option. I was okay with that and ordered it, but I thought the inconsistency of their offerings was strange. The steak bites I got today were another letdown. They were very tough to chew (way worse than the last time we ordered them). Lastly, they didn't have receipts. I asked for one and was told they ran out of receipt paper. There was no option to have it texted or emailed as well. They didn't have receipt paper last time and I brushed it off, but the fact that they still don't have it a month later is a little frustrating. I really do love this restaurant and I'm sure I'll return for their delicious poke and BBQ chicken. But my overall experience today was less than satisfactory.

I am gonna say it, it's the most authentic, Hawaiian fare I've had off the island so far. We were…read morestationed on Oahu for three years, and there are two things that once you leave the island, you'll be scarred forever, like pineapple and poke (pronounced poe-kay). Since moving off the island, we have tried the so called "poke" shops in our next duty stations in Savannah and now here in Coastal VA, in the hopes of finding the real thing, but no. Every time, just end up sad. Until now....I first came across Piha Aloha at the Mabuhay Fest at Farmhouse Brewing Co. last November. Then, I saw them again at the Ube Fest last weekend and made my entire crew make a sharp turn into the area they were set up in. - Ono grinds (delicious eats in Hawaiian pigeon English) - Mabuhay Fest: Poke - the tuna is cut in the more traditional size (poke tends to have bigger chunks of tuna, rather than the mince cut that most poke/sushi places use). The fish was fresh, seasoned well and just delicious with the simplicity of ingredients. Poke nachos - The poke is the same from previous description, just on top of nacho chips and topped with their creamy sauce. Also delicious! Kalua nachos - Their kalua pig on top of nacho chips and also topped with their creamy sauce. Delicious. Ginutan (sp?) - This is, I believe, Filipino, it's in a warm sweet and creamy "broth" with chunks of plantain and I think it was tapioca? I can't remember all the components that was in the "soup", but it's a dessert and I really liked it. Ube Fest Ube ginutan - I want to start with this dish in this section, since I don't want to end an awesome review on a not-so-good note. This was supposed to be their feature ube dish since it was an ube fest, but I'm not sure what happened, but the "broth/soup" coagulated and it was not really that pleasant to eat. The mochi was super soggy in it and there wasn't much of an ube taste. The color was just really a bright purple and for $8, I thought it was a bit pricey. I definitely prefer their OG ginutan flavor as described previously. Combo poke, kalua pig and lomi salmon plate - this is a generous helping of the three. My crew loved the kalua pork especially! It was cooked really well, with that nice smokey flavor. The lomi salmon was the only one that was just ok, but I think I wasn't too crazy about this dish when I was in Hawaii anyway. I'm pretty sure it was raw salmon in Hawaii, but Piha Aloha cooks theirs. Chicken BBQ plate - This is the typical Hawaiian plate lunch: BBQ chicken, mac salad and rice, sprinkled with some furikake. Just great! Spam musubis - My kids devoured these. The musubis transported us back to our island days when we would buy a bunch of musubis from the corner store and bring them on hikes or to eat on the beach. Melon drink - My oldest inhaled this one AND my friend's drink. This reminds me of an agua fresca, but Filipino-style. It's basically cantaloupe juice, diluted with water and sugar and they added shreds of cantaloupe in it. It's super refreshing! Overall, if you want real Hawaiian food, chase down this truck! They are so friendly and the food is amazing! Mahalo, Piha Aloha Ohana! I appreciate you sharing your aloha through your ono grinds throughout CoVA! Enjoy, Friends and never stop exploring!

In a nutshell: I tried to hire The Tailored Chef for my…read morecousin's bachelorette dinner. He bailed on me last minute and was extremely unprofessional about it. I'm glad to see there are people who are happy with his services but I have found that with reviews, people who get the short end of the stick don't say anything unless it's really, really bad. So I imagine that there are people out there who have had similar experiences to mine but didn't deem it worthy of their time to leave a review. I think it's a huge inconvenience to write this review but I wish someone else would have done this so I wouldn't have had this experience in the first place. Therefore, I am writing this to pay it forward so future bookers can have this data point before deciding if they want to book and put the reliability and concrete-ness of their plans, the smoothness of their event and ultimately their happiness and satisfaction in the hands of this careless, indifferent and unprofessional flake. Long version: The only part of the entire encounter that was positive was that after I submitted the inquiry through Yelp, he responded pretty quickly. After that, it all went downhill. Not only were the email handoffs not warm (as in a "warm handoff" that doesn't leave the customer feeling thrown around between people), unprofessional, disjointed and caused for poor customer experience, I repeatedly had to ask for a link to pay once they had confirmed the date and sent me an invoice confirmation because they had thought I had paid and I hadn't - I was being ethical and trying to make sure they got paid. Then all of a sudden one day, I got an automated email confirmation that my confirmation had been cancelled. No communication from Chef Lin Old or his assistant, Theresa. I had to reach out to THEM asking about the email and was just assuming the best and that they had cancelled it in order to send me a new confirmation where I could pay. But oh no. Chef Lin responds with the unbelievable email: "I decided to take the last two weeks of July - the first week of August to go on holiday. I'm the only one who teaches the classes ( Culinary Instructor of 11 years @ The Art Institute) so no one could cover it. That is why I canceled." I attached the email because I still can't believe how unprofessional he was. I am counting on his services, we are ONE MONTH out, he committed to my dates and the service, he cancels and doesn't even do the courtesy of letting me know himself. I am the one who has to reach out to get clarification and when he provides it, he doesn't even offer acknowledgement of / accept responsibility for / act with professional courtesy for the lack of etiquette and professionalism he is exhibiting. I then write him an email saying how disappointing this experience is and that I will write a review to let other people know they simply cannot count on him and his lack of professionalism. He responds with "Not sure what the second email is about demanding an apology & wanting to write a bad review. If this is how things are starting then we may not be a good fit for each other?" I have attached screenshots of these emails as well. I didn't demand an apology. I pointed out he didn't provide one; "That's super disappointing to hear and the lack of apology or proactive explanation for the inconvenience is really poor customer experience." And not a good fit? What a petulant understatement. I live in San Francisco and perhaps the level of service and standard of professional etiquette is higher there than in the Virginia Beach area but I found Chef Lin Old's correspondence, limited customer service, and backing out of his commitment of service (last minute, no less!) abysmal. I am sure that if we had gone through with the service, he himself would have been unbearable. The ego, dismissiveness and lack of ownership that insidiously eeked out through our interactions would have ruined my cousin's party's evening. I'm a silver lining person and so I've convinced myself it's a good thing the reservation didn't go through BUT I do not tolerate behavior like this in the customer service industry. I don't care - small company to Amazon. We are all customers these days and interactions should be led with and based on empathy and compassion. The way Chef Lin Old approached this CS interaction was like a large company that didn't care about the small customer and how it ruined their day / trip / experience: indifferent, careless, un-empathetic. No one wants or deserves to be treated this way. I am so thankful that I was able to find another chef on such short notice but being treated with such unprofessionalism and being stranded last minute without a chef when the entire attendance of the bachelorette (including the bride-to-be, my cousin, who I can't let down!) were counting on and looking forward to a private cooking class, I feel obligated to write this review so no one goes through what I did.
