I have been boarding my dog here for years- but no longer will I ever use them again. Not only have the prices gone up significantly, but they must have had a lot of people cancel without notice because I called to get an estimate on our stay and the owner basically went ballistic over the phone screaming at me to listen to him. When I tried telling him he was misunderstanding me that I was not canceling, he continued to berate me until he was through. Thanks to HIM ONLY, I will NEVER use their services again. Avoid this place at all costs! If I could give zero stars I would. There is no love or affection for your fur babies here. A groomer let my dog fall off the table and hang by the neck collar and chain, screaming at my dog for not staying still. I was sitting down in the waiting room but immediately heard the commotion as the groomer was angrily shouting and my dog was struggling to breathe. My dog is a 50 pound well mannered low energy lab/fox hound mix. She loves the vet, and is always well behaved when the vet clips her nails or draws blood. This incident is entirely the "groomers" fault for causing my dog to be uncomfortable and scared. The groomer started screaming at me for being a, "Shit dog owner who doesn't know anything." when I ran to the open area/desk and saw what was going on. I let her have it, she tried to kill my dog, and she insulted me when I tried to rescue my dog. Please, whatever you do, avoid this kennel. Even though they advertise complementary grooming on the last day, don't count on it. We've boarded our dog here 3 times now and we have yet to be able to get him groomed on his last day. In fact, they seem really annoyed when asked for this service that advertise on their website. I echo an earlier review made by another customer that they are very particular on the pick up times. We were able to pick our dog up a day early but they still charged us for the following day. The workers are not friendly at all and I don't feel comfortable leaving our dog here anymore. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I boarded my very calm, boxer here with high hopes because of their sign out front saying that they were voted #1 in bucks county for boarding. I have boarded my dog at two other places in Quakertown prior to using Ben-Jee kennels and my dog did so great. Well, we moved and Ben-Jee was closer and the reviews were good so we decided to give them a try. I went through a walk through and talked to the guy before I decided to leave my dog with them since I'm very particular with who I leave my dog with. Anyway, the place seemed great so I left our 4 year old boxer boy here for a short weekend. I went to pick him up and the man at the front desk told me they charged me extra because they had to use a catch pole. What?! A catch pole?! Why?! My dog was a very chill and laid back guy. He informed me that he opened my dogs crate door to let him out to go to the bathroom but my dog refused to go outside so they used a catch pole to drag him outside so he wouldn't pee in the kennel. They then charged my extra money for having to do that. I was stunned. My dog has been in a kennel before and has never had an issue. I told him that he must have been scared and maybe that's why he didn't want to leave the crate but I was freaking out on the inside and just wanted to see my dog so I told him to go get him and I'll pay whatever... I just wanted my dog. He brings my dog out by dragging him by the neck ON THE CATCHPOLE and refused to let him off of it until he drug my dog outside where I could get him off of the pole and finally leash him. My dog was in obvious distress, panting, whining, and wouldn't look at me. He was terrified and pacing back and forth on the leash in the parking lot and wouldn't even look at me. I told the guy that I have my dog from here and told him to go inside so I can get my dog to look at my to see that it's me and he's fine but I've never seen my dog like that before. It took a few hours after we got home for my dog to finally relax and know that he's home now and okay. I am fuming and wondering why no one called me to tell me that they were having an issue with him. I will never kennel my dog again and I will NEVER use or recommend Ben-Jee to anyone EVER. Trust me, I used kennels before and my dog has never ever acted like that at pick up so I know in my heart that something else happened that I don't know about. The owner was so mean to us! After leaving our dog there for a week while we were on vacation we drove 12 hours leaving at 4am so that we could pick up our dog by 6pm, when we were told to do so. Apparently you can only pick up your dog immediately at your appointment time, and when we came to get our dog (at 4:45 pm) not only were we not given him, but we were scolded and threatened for not coming at our appointment time. The owner made it very clear that we were apparently in the wrong and that we were 'endangering employees and the other dogs' by not coming right at our appointment time. Mean people suck. I just picked up my sheltie from his first stay here. I could not have been any clearer when I left him that all I wanted was for him to receive a bath, nails trimmed and pads shaved. I specifically stated that No Other trimming was to be done. Well just picked him up and he had his fur trimmed. Told the girl how upset I was. She was the same girl I gave the instructions to. Asked to speak to manager. He made me feel as if I was a child. Made me bring in my dog and display him. He stated that a Sheltie should be trimmed in specific manner. I know all that, But he is my dog and I wanted bath only. He kept reinforcing the trimming protocol. Said next time they would honor my request. What about this time? Why we're they not honored thus time? Didn't offer refund on the charges for something I didn't want. My poor guy was terrified putting in car, out, on display then back into car. Car rides are an ordeal in themselves. But the manager told me she was ok. HE was not ok. As soon as he walked into home he vomited from the stress. I think I know my dog better. It wasn't an innocent mistake made by someone other than who I addressed my issues with trimming just few days ago when I left him. She was the groomer and didn't honor my request. No apology from her. None from the owner at all. Saying your sorry does go a long way. But there was none. Just called kennel to ask for refund on the grooming. No was the answer based on his opinion that the dog looked great. He told me " I am going to talk, and you are going to listen"! Are you kidding me, I am not a child. We've since gotten a puppy and am bringing him there to be boarded this month. I trust them completely and have recommended them to others. Not only is this the only kennel that I will use for my dog but I drive 45 minutes both ways to get there. My dog is very special to me as I am sure most are to their owners. I pass at least 4 other kennel facilities to take my dog to Ben Jee because I know that she will be well taken care of, the kennel is clean and the owner lives on site. The owner is a highly respected dog trainer. The last reviewer indicated that she was unable to pick her dog up when she wanted to but I believe that she is speaking about Sunday pick up. Since the facility is technically closed on Sundays you can either pick up at 11:00 am or 6:00pm. Those are the times and that is what you agree to. If everyone came when they felt like it then the kennel would have to have staffing on Sundays all day which it does not. These times are a convenience to the customer as the facility used to be closed all day Sunday. Bottom line, I wouldn't trust my dog to anyone else. Ben Jee is a great kennel!!!! read more

For a 24 hour care of our dogs no one had noticed them not drinking any water. Pretty sure that they lied to us about them eating ( if they didn't drink they didn't eat.) We left several contact numbers if there was a problem with them. We were lied to at 11:30am saying there wasn't a problem, but there really was because we got a phone call earlier the next morning. They need to work on their customer service. Our dogs drank over a gallon of water when we got them home. We also need to factor in the heat it was 85+ degrees outside and our dogs didn't drink?? I don't think I would recommend anyone to go there. If the older man that works there is the owner, he needs to work on his customer service. More importantly worry about your dogs, and the care that they get. Remember your paying for "good" care of your dogs. read more

I thought this place was great at first. When my dogs were puppies they got extra attention and came back happy. I know see how wrong I was this place deserves negative stars. I had them there once they were grown and could easily tell that the service severely dropped off. I paid for the maximum number of walks just to realize it was just a scam and they clearly were not giving my dogs the attention I paid for. If that wasn't enough when I went to pick them up I could very clearly here a man in the the back screaming and hitting a dog that was boarded. They couldn't pay me to bring my animals back there. Please don't be fooled by their sign out front it is a terrible place to board your animals. Also if there happens to be snow when you go they refuse to clear their parking lot I had to drive through 4 inches of snow from the day before. Had our dog groomed here. When we picked our dog up and brought him home he wouldn't eat, or go to the bathroom, #1 or #2. He also kept dragging his back side on the ground. Took him to the vet the next day to find that he had razor burn. When we called to tell them what had happened, the owner said the vet was wrong, and that the dog already had "irritation" on his back side before they groomed him, and that they did nothing to cause the dogs issues. Despite the fact that the dog was completely fine before they groomed him and began having these issues after we picked him up. So their grooming not only cost is the $65 grooming few, but a $125 vet bill for the visit and medications to treat the razor burn. The owner continued to deny any responsibility and offered us nothing for our troubles. Won't be going back and I don't recommend anyone else go there either. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences at Ben-Jee Kennels. The folks who operate the kennel are extremely knowledgeable about dogs especially with nutrition, care and training. They take things very seriously when it comes to providing canine care and maintaining a healthy and thriving environment for your pets. The owner is a well known and reputable trainer in the area and is considered a top breeder as well. The kennel is extremely clean and the dogs have access to outdoor runs as well as the time they are individually walked. I would be hard pressed to find caretakers who care more about dogs. read more

I was just charged $200...yes, $200... to have my dog groomed. Granted, he is a 150 lb Newfoundland with seperation anxiety but he has been there before. I was using Ben Jee Kennels as that was where his former owners took him and I thought he would be more comfortable in a familiar setting.I reminded them when I set the appointment that Bo can be a handful and was assured that that was OK. Believe me, I don't need to drive 40 minutes to find a dog groomer..I was thinking about the dog. When I dropped him off, the groomer asked what i wanted done. I told her, nails, bath, comb out, trim..she said..Oh, you want him clipped down, like I did in 2009. I said no, I wanted what she had done when he was in a few months ago. BTW..that had cost $100. ok? ok. She called me several hours later to tell me that the dog was done but then went into a speech about how dirty and smelly he was, how it took 3 people 3 hours to groom him, that he was matted and that she finally got "pissed off" and just shaved his sides. Smelly...yes. That's why I was taking him to the groomer. Matted..no. He had some mats behind his ears which I had attended to the night before. Maybe some little spit mats, but nothing major. I am assuming that these people have seen dog hair before. When I picked him up, the groomer was nowhere in sight. I did not let loose on the nice little 18 year old girl who took my credit card but I will not take Bo or any dog back to Ben Jee Kennels again. I will either do it myself or go to a closer groomer that charges a reasonable amount. Today cost me $75 per hour. To groom a dog. I should make that much. read more

I had used this kennel for over 13 years. Til my last horrible experience,first off the man came put to take my dog and basically yanked her away and that was a red flag to me. I thought something was up ,but I have been there several times and never had a reason to be alarmed til this visits as I discovered , not only did their staff have a horrible attitude i later discovered my puppy had been apparently smacked and kicked while in their care and the groomer besides having a resting bitch face was unfriendly and I witnessed her being lil nasty to a dog she was grooming. Not only was I disgusted with my findings ,,the worst was when I called them on it.not only did they naturally deny it but I was treated pretty terrible not that I was surprised. I can only imagine what else goes on there ,,I was given a terrible attitude as a person in the service industry I found this to be unacceptable and they just don't care. I will NEVER take any of my pets there and Will EVER recommend them anymore and I hope that whichever employee whom kicked and was horrible to my pup ,, I hope you get yours and someone kicks and abuses you ,,,so if you want a attitude and your pet mistreated this is the place for you. read more
