"fungus among us" situation, courtesy of nursing shoes and never-ending shifts. I called Dr. Quemena's office on a whim, praying for a miracle, and his sweet, efficient receptionist came through like a hero--she worked her magic and got me in on a last-minute cancellation. Bless her heart! When I met Dr. Quemena, it was TLC from the jump. He listened, didn't rush, and treated my hard-working feet with so much care. Not only did he create a plan to tackle the nail fungus (no oral meds--he respected my health concerns), he even threw in a bonus bunion prevention plan because yes, these ER feet are out here catching everything. Professional, kind, knowledgeable, and funny--he made a less-than-glamorous foot issue feel normal and totally fixable. It was my first visit, but I already know this is my podiatrist for life. Received my bill MONTHS later, only to find I was billed $535 for a set of these terrible inserts that are the same as ones I could have gotten at CVS. The total bill for a WART is $841 after insurance, bringing the bill to $1367. I contacted the billing department who then told me they would contact the front office staff and I received no response. I then called a second time and still have received no response from the front office, until today when I received another bill in the mail. My suggestion- find a different practice with a less rude office staff and more clear communication.

Anyway, the good doctor was able to remove the glass without any local anesthesia, and the pain stopped! I was in the examination room with her, and asked other questions related to podiatry and the fitness of shoes. He explained the purpose of shoes and had a nice skeletal model of the foot and how it is supposed to flex. While being flatfooted, it seems the foot has to work extra-hard and that is the reason for early pain while walking. He is a patient Doctor with a nice small practice which we both feel comfortable in. He is close to home and on Fairoaks, close to Old Town, allowing another reason to stop for breakfast or lunch, as he has mornings for patients. I would recommend this Doctor for any minor foot operations, and as always get a second opinion.

Dr. Liu was based out of Alhambra in an office on Valley Blvd but moved to Monterey Park about a year ago. My appointment with Dr Liu just finished, and everything looks good with my feet. My arch and muscle mass are becoming restored, so Dr. Yen-Po Liu suggested that I make another appointment sometime next year for the simple reason that as far as my feet go... everything looks as though it's returning back to normal. Dr. Liu and his staff are compassionate , friendly , and caring. Dr. Liu is very knowledgeable . He was able to make the diagnosis of my issue and provide immediate treatment & resolved my pain .
