I was referred to Dr Wenjay Sung from a friend just in time late 2023 after suffering a right heel injury that turned out to be a bone spur in 2022. Started with plantar fasciitis and ended up to be a bone heel spur. I had the choice of living with a heel spur or operating and I chose to operate. Dr Wenjay did a fantastic job and today I am 100% healed. In 2024, I was injured in a sports accident and had multiple stress fractures on my left ankle. Beyond disappointed in this practice. When I originally booked for a wart removal, the receptionist specifically went out of her way to encourage me to get inserts because my insurance covers a new set of inserts each year. Received my bill MONTHS later, only to find I was billed $535 for a set of these terrible inserts that are the same as ones I could have gotten at CVS. The total bill for a WART is $841 after insurance, bringing the bill to $1367. I contacted the billing department who then told me they would contact the front office staff and I received no response. I then called a second time and still have received no response from the front office, until today when I received another bill in the mail. My suggestion- find a different practice with a less rude office staff and more clear communication. read more

My husband's agonizing, months-long ordeal with foot pain ended in the incredible care of Dr. Sung, and I cannot possibly offer enough praise for him and his staff. I have seen Dr. Sung in the past and always found him to be courteous and respectful. Amy, as always, has been amazing! However, I recently had a follow-up exam with Dr. Sung to determine if I still needed surgery after injuring three ligaments and one tendon in my right foot, and my experience was quite different this time. During the appointment, Dr. Sung was very brief with me. When I asked if he could show me where the ligaments are in my foot, Dr. Sung mentioned he had shown me last time, which I didn't recall. I then inquired if it would be beneficial to have another MRI to see how the healing progressed, and Dr. Sung informed me that insurance would only cover it every three months and that it would cost around $1,000. I mentioned that paying directly is usually three times less, and Dr. Sung abruptly raised his voice to an uncomfortable level, stating that the MRI cost $10,000 and my cost would be $1,000. I clarified that I was open to paying for the MRI myself if it would provide meaningful information, but Dr. Sung interrupted me before I could finish my sentence, lecturing me with a still raised voice that I could get an MRI every day of the year if I wanted, but it would not yield meaningful information. In a very condescending and continued loud voice, Dr. Sung then said that I should not get my information from Facebook, Instagram, the internet, or friends. I responded that I do not. (I base my thinking on common sense and logic.) Dr. Sung then asserted his authority by stating loudly, "I am the doctor". I was completely baffled and taken aback by this display of arrogance, rudeness, and unprofessional conduct. He could not get out of the exam room fast enough! As soon as I left Dr. Sung's office, I sought out another doctor, whom I visited a few days later. The difference was astonishing. The new doctor immediately pointed out that I indeed had a fracture, which neither the MRI results nor Dr. Sung had identified. The new doctor examined my foot in detail with gloved hands to determine exactly where it hurt, something Dr. Sung never did. Following this, I had new x-rays, and the doctor showed me the fracture in both the x-ray and the MRI. He also pressed on the outside of my knee, which hurt, explaining that there could be a fracture there as well, which is common with such injuries. Fortunately, additional x-rays showed no further fractures. The new doctor advised me to start physical therapy and return in four weeks, whereas Dr. Sung had simply told me to keep the boot on for four more weeks and then come back. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Dr. Sung. I am still completely bewildered as to why he treated me in such a demeaning and disrespectful manner. read more

This has been by far the best podiatry treatment I have had. The whole staff is extremely helpful, and Dr. Sung is an absolute pro. As an older ultramarathon runner, my feet have various problems, and ingrown toenails, fungus, bone spurs have all been addressed expertly. I am suffering with a bone spur which caused damage to the plantar fascia on one foot. Every step was so painful.Could barely walk into the office. Dr. Sung took x-rays and ordered an MRI to confirm his diagnosis. He suggested PRP treatment and an injection of filler to build up and cushion the heel pad. Sounded scary to me but Dr. Sung, Sue, and staff are so sensitive to what you are going through and thoroughly explained everything and comforted me. I was very impressed with Doctor Sung. Parking was plenty. From the moment I stepped into his office I was impressed. I was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. She made sure I was comfortable and offered beverages. Dr. Sung listened to all of my needs and heeled my pain where other doctors tried to give me steroids, NSAID, and other invasive things like surgery. I was suffering from heel fat atrophy and he was able to heal my pain with a fat filler injection and now I can walk without pain in every step. Do not go to this doctor! I called before I made an appointment to make sure they took my insurance. They claimed they did, then months later billed me for nearly $800. I came here due to foot and ankle pain I was experiencing after standing for an extended period of time. Initially the doctor seemed really friendly, warm, and genuinely concerned. He assessed my feet and determined that foam inserts would help increase my arch and prevent my bunions from progressing. He made it sound like a really laid back thing, took some quick imprints of my feet, and said that the office would call me when the inserts arrived for him to fit them into my shoes. Whole appointment probably took 7-8 mins total. I came to the front desk and the receptionist said I owed $65 for the custom inserts to get produced and that my insurance should cover one yearly set of these inserts... I said ok cool, paid it there with no issue. Once said inserts were ready a couple weeks later I come back in for Dr. Sung to fit them. He is noticeable less friendly than the first appointment. Eh, I'm sure he's just busy so I don't think much of it. He quickly takes the inserts out of their box, cuts some excess foam around the edges, slides them into my shoes. Tells me to put them on and stand up to see if they fit. My shoes felt tighter and less comfortable than without the inserts but he says it's normal and I'll adjust to it. He says he's done so I leave the office, and the whole appointment was 5 mins tops. Fast forward about 9 months later, I receive a bill from their office for a whopping $775. I call the office thinking there must be a mistake on their end with billing. The receptionist who I spoke to was rude, defensive and condescending. I tell her surely I'm not being charged nearly $800 for someone to slide some foam into my shoes. That's what some people pay for an actual in-office procedure. She tells me that is the typical rate of any doctor in the field. I tell her that had I known they were going to bill me for this amount I would not have gone through with ordering the inserts and that I was told I was only responsible for $65. She responds that I misheard that information or made it up... Horrible experience and whole practice feels predatory. Stay away! Update: Despite the office's response of it being an "insurance confusion issue" I maintain that there was NO transparent communication of pricing for these inserts. To assume a patient with no prior foot issues should just know that some foam is going to be priced at $300 per foot? I'm sure plenty of patients come in for issues of all severities, whether they have reached their deductible or not. I've had many other doctor's offices warn me of what a service will cost and entail so I can make an informed decision. Furthermore, the inserts in question are uncomfortable and actually increase my ankle pain to wear, so they are just collecting dust. Sad to be out $800 for something I don't even get use out of. Would have appreciated maybe some advice on foot exercises that can be performed (which I've had to research myself) or a broader set of options available to me other than giving the one option that turned out to be a huge expense. I've encountered professionals of integrity across all fields who would tell me they feel I can hold off on springing for something that they know is a large expense. If you are expecting transparency or a doc who cares enough to help patients weigh options, this isn't it. They are in it to make money period. read more

Dr. Sung is exactly what I wanted in a health care practitioner. He is very knowledgeable and certainly appears to enjoy educating his patients. He was able to make the diagnosis of my issue and provide immediate treatment. He has a soothing demeanor and you do not feel rushed at all. He encouraged me to email with any questions and stated emails would be answered within 24 hours (except on weekend). It is obvious that excellent patient care is a priority to Dr. Sung. This is for the doc or front staff - don't know who's responsible but likely the doc. This is my 2nd time seeing the doc and I was never informed of a 10 minute late policy. I was 11/12 minutes late and they had to reschedule me!! I was sure it was just 10 minutes or so when I searched for my phone to check actual time while she was trying to turn me away. I took a day off to make this appointment and unfortunately there was unexpected traffic and the slow elevator up to his office but you can't see me because of 1 minute or so?! The doc was late at my first appointment, I didn't give him attitude. Everyone's time is important, not just the doctor. I am beyond frustrated and upset!! Only one other patient was in the office doing paperwork - how busy and booked are you?! I would understand if the waiting room was full like my first appointment with him. I went back for 3rd (and last) appointment to be seen and express my frustration with that 2nd appointment - he didn't care. Oh well he has other good patients that are not late. read more

He is knowledgeable and experienced and really takes the time to speak with us at each visit. I had an ingrown big toenail that was bothering me for months. I had never been to a podiatrist before, but I decided to see Dr. Sung based on his Yelp reviews. Big mistake. I visited his office in June of this year. He did a procedure to the toenail, prescribed an antibiotic and sent me on my way. A month later, the toe was still painful, bleeding and swollen. I emailed a photo to Dr. Sung and he said to go to UrgentCare for X-rays. This seemed like strange advice for a toenail problem, and I was not thrilled to go the UrgentCare in the middle of a pandemic, but I followed his advise. Not surprisingly, the X-rays were negative and the UrgentCare doctor said the podiatrist needs to deal with it. I reported this back to Dr. Sung in an email and he prescribed more antibiotics. He said I could not come to his office until I had quarantined for two weeks since I went to UrgentCare (huh?). I emailed Dr. Sung again in August (two months after the procedure) and advised that the toe was still very painful, swollen and bleeding. I attached a photo of the very disgusting-looking toe. Amazingly, Dr.Sung said it "looks good" and is "healing well." By that point I realized that Dr. Sung was washing his hands of the problem. I went to anther podiatrist who confirmed there was still a problem with the nail (as well as fungus which Dr. Sung missed). She did another procedure, with several followup visits, and the toe in now finally healing. Dr. Sung obviously botched the original procedure. That could be forgiven. What bothered me most was how he refused to deal with the post-procedure problems, and insultingly told me it was fine when it obviously was not. He has tons of positive Yelp reviews so maybe I'm the exception. But my advise is to find someone else. read more
