He's very funny very active and I can tell he loves working with his patience and helping the community where his heart touches many lives... I believe that my intermittent pain from my right foot caused my torn meniscus. I should have addressed the ankle pain before it escalated to me now having a painful knee. I chose Dr. lee based upon his wonderful Yelp reviews. I was highly impressed with how he told me that he'd like to see an x-ray of my ankle. He referred me to a radiology clinic on the day of my appointment. On that same day, I was able to be seen by the radiology clinic. He also suggested for me to ask them for the disc with my x-ray, and to return to his clinic. This is the first time that I was able to see a doctor twice within the same day of an appointment. Usually, the doctor prescribes an x-ray, and then I need to make an appointment for an x-ray. Afterward, I have to make another appointment with the doctor regarding the results of my x-ray. I told my husband about my discussions with Dr. Lee. I immediately purchased a pair of Oofos sandals, per the doctor's suggestion. I even purchased a pair of Oofos shoes. I now have less pain in my injured knee. I also chose to be fitted for inserts, because I wanted to be able to wear the shoes that I already have. My husband purchased numerous orthotic shoes and no longer has his knee and back pain. He highly praises Dr. Lee as being a miracle worker. Oofos needs to send Dr. Lee all the different sizes of sandals so that his patients would be able to feel what they truly feel like. I often use Yelp reviews for reference when looking for new places to try but as a quick look at my profile will show, I rarely leave reviews myself. In this case I feel it's only fair to share my positive experience with Dr Lee. Before this appointment I had never had a more constructive, information-packed doctor's visit in my life. Within minutes after seeing my feet, observations and diagnoses came tumbling forth so quickly I could hardly keep up. Mind you, my visit was for laser treatment and so the intended focus would be expected to be rather narrow in that regard, but the observations and recommendations the doctor made touched on related problems that went far beyond the scope of this treatment. I left very impressed and remain so. I would not hesitate to visit Dr Lee again and would recommend him highly to anyone and in fact plan on doing so. read more

Dr. Lee is an exceptional podiatrist. Him and his staff all exude excellence for what I feel healthcare should strive for. I was able to make an appointment on the same day that I called to make one. How nice is that? The wait time to see Dr. Lee was reasonable. When I did see Dr. Lee, he gave me ample time to explain my situation with my foot and provided good insight and feedback about the problem. He understood that I had some concerns and told me he would be open to help get me setup with a foot x-ray and blood lab draws. I was able to do the x-ray a few blocks away from the office and the lab draw office was right next door to his office on the same day. Dr. Lee even allowed me to bring the results of the x-ray to the office on the same day so that he could review them with me. He provided me his thoughts about what the problem was with the results of the x-ray. It seems his suspicions were right because I'm feeling substantially better. Dr. Lee also kept his promise about updating me the results of the blood test once they were available. I called back a few days after my visit to see if I could get a prescription for a stronger dose NSAID and his staff was able to relay the message to Dr. Lee to write me a prescription and have it faxed to my pharmacy. This is my review of Dr. Lee's Arcadia office staff. I called and booked an appointment over the phone. I confirmed the appointment via their text messages a few times before the appointment. When I showed up for the appointment on a triple-digit hot day, I was told that the authorization expired and I could not see Dr. Lee that day. The staff insisted that they called me four times. I checked my calling records and did not see four calls from the office, only one missed phone call on the day of the appointment. I was upset that the staff did not respect patient's time and lied about calling patients multiple times. I showed my phone's calling records and questioned why I received multiple text messages of confirming the appointment but was turned away when I got there. "Narrow Ankles, Wide Feet, High Arches, A Gray Big toe with Fungus, and toes pointed in".... I guess I had to trade in my facial, chest, and side burns for something.. At least no one could really see my losings from the genetic lottery that is my FEET. Before a few weeks ago, I like a lot of you, had absolutely no idea what the hell a Podiatrist was let alone knew that there was a speciality for such a thing. However, rest assure the only "Foot Doctor", I'd go to is Edmond Lee... *I actually found Edmond Lee on Yelp because probably like a lot of you a foot doctor isn't the most common Doctor you search for unless you suffer from Bunions and Hammer toes. (WHAT THE HELL IS A HAMMER TOE?! I still have no idea) Location: It's in the heart of Chinatown just above a residential area. Parking: You can park in the lot for cheap (Make sure you get a validation) or park on the street. (Read the signs accordingly.) Front office/Staff: Friendly. The receptionist checking me in was quite knowledgable and got me in and out of the office pretty quickly. *Edmond Lee: Given the location and speciality, I thought the doctor was probably some 90 year old Chinese geezer who spoke little to no English but I couldn't be further off from reality. A really cool ABC (American Born Chinese) who speaks fluent English and was cracking jokes and gave me a great analysis of the problem and that I need to switch up my shoes too.Lastly, great and Pleasant bed manner as well. ** The reason of why I came in was for foot fungus on my toenail. IM SEXY AND I KNOW IT. I've actually had it for a few years from living in Asia and didn't think much of it cause it doesn't hurt but it just cosmetically looks ugly... The only people I know who actually have it are like my dad's generation.. So I was thinkin' to myself? Why should I suffer with this thing at the tender age of ___?? ** Since the procedure is cosmetic, insurance won't cover it. *Womp Womp*. The procedure itself is $150 for the 1st nail and $100 for the 2nd subsequent nail. $150 for my big toe to look as pretty as it's twin on my left foot?!?! I thought about it long and hard and figured What the hell.... In the end, I ended up paying $125 out the door but I couldn't be happier with the results. *Treatment* (3 Types of treatments) 1. Laser: The most effective treatment. It's essentially a 7 min process which consists of him zeroing in a James Bond Vilian like laser on your infected area and heats it up like a Frozen Burrito to about 107 degrees. FYI. The Laser gets FREAKING HOT. I have an extremely high pain tolerance. However, if you're not too keen on pain or even isolated pain in a certain area you've been warned. Dr. Lee essentially zero ins his laser on the toe nail and eradicating the fungus. You shouldn't feel any residual pain afterwards but I remember touching the nail about 20 mins afterwards and still remember feeling the heat on it. Afterwards, you should be able to grow the nail back to it's proper form. In the meantime, he recommended supplementary treatment such as the pill and creme. 2. Pills: Once a day for 7 days. However, it will affect your liver. (It jump starts the process internally) 3. Creme: Apply Twice daily. Been doing this every night and I think my nail is almost back to it's cute self. *If you're Asian, you're probably not too keen on taking the pills which will affect your liver.... I opted to go for the Laser treatment and I went down to Pharmacy to get my prescription filled for the creme and the pills. Out of pocket cost for both was only $85 total. Quite a steal considering they give you a big ass tube of creme for your fungus. **If you decided on treatment, definitely mention the Yelp deal and get a $25 discount. Pretty happy with the results and I think you'll be too. **It's been a week now and it looks pretty much almost back to normal. I'll have to take a follow up photo at the follow-up consultation but super excited that my big Toe is lookin' PRETTY AGAIN! If i could post negative stars i would put negative 100! This is the worst experience I have ever had with a physicians office. The people that work there have no idea at all what they are doing. I tore my calf and went in to get it looked at on Tuesday 4/21 Sandra that works for the office has no clue at all how to deal with insurance and every aspect of my experience reflected negligence. The doctor himself couldn't tell me much except that I needed to get an MRI to determine what needs to be done next. Proceeded to write me scripts for crutches and MRI. He told me he was going to write script for Ibuprofen but forgot, I had to have the pharmacy call up to get approval. The scripts that were written were half written to a completely different patient (really?) and one to me. To do the MRI they referrred me to some place down the street because it was local and said I should just go down there and fill out paperwork and they would take care of everything. By the time i got out of my appt with Edmond Lee the place was closed. When I called the imaging center I was referred to next day (Wed) they had none of my medical information and told me in order to schedule an MRI I would need a preauthorization that came from physician. On top of it all the MRI would have to be done in Pasadena! I thought I was referred here because it was local?? Sandra did not call in the preauthorization and their office was closed on Wednesday so I left a message for them to call in preauthorization on Thursday morning and to put in a rush. After speaking to my insurance I was told If you call and speak to radiology/imaging peer line directly the mri can be authorized in 24 hours. I had asked Sandra and Dr. Lee how to expedite the MRI process and they had said that in certain situations in could be called in and expedited. Well it can always be called in and expedited if the physician so chooses so if I am requesting it the only reason it wasn't done was because of laziness. I followed up with Sandra Thursday morning and told her they had not called in the preauthorization and why? She said that the imaging center they referred me to was going to do that and I proceeded to tell her that they had no record of me and that they clearly told me it was the physican duty to call the authorization in and that the imaging center could not do so. I told her to please call United Healthcare now and expedite the MRI. This was on Thursday morning (4/23). Sandra said they were go to call in authorization after we got off the phone. On Friday I call in my insurance to check on authorization and they say that there was no rush that it was submitted normal queue and it wouldn't be authorized until Monday. So here goes a weekend of my foot looking like a hobbit, pain and status of my calf/leg being up in the air. Today, Monday I call in to insurance and find out that Sandra did not submit the neccesary information and the MRI had been put on hold pending physicians office to call back in to give the correct information. I am just speechless. Never have I experienced such incompetence and ball dropping yes I am angry because these people are playing around with my health and wellbeing . This is not me waiting on an iphone 6 or someone messing up my online order from Amazon. I have a ruptured calf with internal bleeding that in a weeks time went from calf down to ankle and throughout foot and I cannot get an MRI because Edmond Lee and his staff cannot do their job. Everyone makes mistakes but this is just inexcusable and flat out negligence. Never go here! I do not wish my experience on anyone! An utter complete waste of time and money and risk putting your health at risk with their incompetent and cavaliar approach to handling customer health and service. read more

Just had the laser treatment and the doc was very cool and explained the procedure and how my feet need to be taken care of and what's made my feet bad after years. It was quick so let's see in three months. I have a follow up. I'm optimistic that my funky toenails will be a lot better. I'll update. I went to see Dr Lee today for a really bad heel pain. I could barely stand without pain. Reading the last negative reviewer I was expecting a hole in the wall office. To the contrary, the office was well maintained and clean, with new paint and new flooring. The office is on the fifth floor of a very nice medical plaza, with parking. The waiting room was slightly "roughed up" but I think mainly from the fact I was patient number #25 at only 1 pm in the afternoon. The front office staff was both efficient and friendly, and I had no complaints. My wait time was about 15 mins. All in all, Dr Lee diagnosed my problem, advised me to wear New Balance shoes and Crox shoes for home wear. I walked out of the office with an injection and a hand full a free sample medicines. I was only set back $90 cash for both the consultation and shot, which I think was very reasonable in price. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Lee. I came in for arch pain in my right foot that I had been experiencing for a few weeks, worse in the mornings. Upon examining my feet, Dr. Lee rattled off a million things wrong with them, and was laughing and being pretty tactless in his delivery saying how "messed up" my feet were. He said I needed orthotics, insurance wouldn't cover them, and they'd be a few hundred dollars. Beyond that he gave me no advice nor did he address the pain I was in (and the orthotics would've taken weeks to come in, what was I supposed to do in the mean time?). Not wanting the hand over the money for the orthotics to someone who has been so tactless and frankly not at all helpful, I decided to get a second opinion. I went to Dr. Charles Blaine, and would strongly urge anyone else to do the same. In our first session he decided to focus first on what was causing the pain (rather than overwhelm me with 17 problems like Dr. Lee did). He diagnosed me with Plantar Fasciitis, and immediately started therapy for me that day - stim machine, laser to reduce inflammation, and wrapping my foot for added support. He also molded me for insoles which, turns out ARE covered by insurance (very sketchy to me that Dr. Lee said they weren't). And he gave me temporary inserts to begin wearing immediately. Lastly, he taught me stretches which would help loosen my Achilles in turn helping the tendon in my arch which has the issue. He was a wealth of knowledge, and beyond that has a great personality and is pleasant to be around. I will never go to another podiatrist other than Dr. Blaine, and especially not Dr. Lee. read more

if you're wondering about laser surgery for your nails... lemme just tell you, it WORKS. i don't wanna talk about my feet but now that they're so purty i will! i picked up something many years ago at the gym that discolored 3 of my nails. even though people don't really see my feet (i'm not a flip flop kinda guy) they really bothered me. i tried many many things over many years. i tried the pills, sporanox, which they say are very hard on your liver and which my doc at the time even told me he did not want to prescribe because of potential liver complications. i took them luckily did not have any complications, but also after *months* of religiously following doses, did not have any results. i also tried everything on the shelves at the drugstore -- NONE of them work, no matter what they say; nothing will get under the nail bed, and the names, packaging and claims of any over the counter item are very misleading. anything straight off the shelves will not work you need Rx strength by Rx only if even those work. i eyed nail laser treatments for years and when i first saw them they were $850+. that's a lotta money to spend on your toes! like i said below, when i stumbled on the newer lower prices for treatments i thought yeah i can do that! anyone who does laser treatment and delves into the process of nail growth needs to know, this is a SLOW process. nail beds are very thick. bacteria / fungus trapped / thriving under the nail bed are happy as pie there. they are in your socks and shoes all day, it's probably moist and wet, and they will continue to thrive. if you're a gal, you may wear open toe shoes, but if you wear nail polish, you are also trapping the stuff in! i went in for 2 treatments here. the second one was 4 months after the first when i noticed, there was SOME improvement but not much -- maybe 25%. i certainly wanted and expected more, so went in for a 2nd treatment. followed the same regime pretty much afterwards which includes prescription creams and prescription nail treatments. and then after about 7 months i started noticing much better results which little by little, month by month got increasingly better. what i can say and what my pics show for me is, 12 months after the first treatment, i firmly believe my nails are completely clear and better. i have zero hesitation to walk around in flip flops or be at the pool and have nothing to hide. zero. nada. it's just a nice and better way to feel..... ;-) dr. lee was fun, lively and cheery to work with. he's direct and practical. and in all honesty, even though treatment took about a full year to fully kick in, it worked for me when in over *10 years*, nothing else did. i could see the results slowly but firmly kicking in, and in the end it worked excellently....! so there! definitely recommended and what i will add is the sooner your start the sooner you will finish..... it takes a while so don't sit on it, madge...! ;-) read more

Well it's a year later and my nails are shining like a Franklin dime!

One of the worst experiences I have ever had with a medical professional! He might be great if you have toe nail fungus but is worse than worthless for anything else. I got custom orthotics from him which likely ended up causing me a very painful injury. When I went back to him He couldn't seem to fathom what the problem could be and proceeded to order a battery of tests and medications for conditions I do not have. He diagnosed Gout when what I ended up having was tendinitis which was easily diagnosed by my Primary Physician who told me it was likely caused by the faulty orthotics. Fortunately I opted not to take the super toxic medication he prescribed for the gout I didn't have. I was told by his office staff (not Dr. Lee) to take it anyway even tho the test had come out negative. I'm waiting for a referral to another Podiatrist for a second opinion so, in all fairness, I will wait to see what the other Podiatrist has to say. Dr. Lee has also contacted me and offered to fix the orthotics he made for me once I'm on my feet again. The worst part of the experience was with his front office manager who is rude and bossy and lazy. Sandra dragged her feet forever getting approval from my insurance for the orthotics. I finally had to call the insurance company myself and conference her in. She forgot to call in a refill of the pain medication Dr. Lee prescribed so I was without for a long holiday weekend and then she had the nerve to lie to me about it. She also talks trash about Dr. Lee to his patients behind his back. Extremely unprofessional. My advice is if you have any problem besides toenail fungus find someone else. My advice to Dr. Lee is to get control over his staff as they are putting a very bad face on HIS practice. read more

Dr. Lee was professional and was very helpful. I came in because I got pieces of glass stuck inside my foot. He took an X-ray and found them but they were not visible to the eye, so he suggested to wait until they resurface so that it can be removed. Since this has unfortunately happened before and the glass did as he said, I was happy with the result. The bonus was that he helped me identify the heel pain that I have had for over 3 years and help me get special insoles. I'd picked up a lovely fungus from the gym shower that had gotten under my big toe; after several months it had turned completely yellow with black down at the cuticle, was detaching; and was starting to hurt at the base -- I knew I was about to lose it. Having been told by doctors that the fungal infection in my toe could only be successfully treated with a year of toxic medication which would cause havoc to my liver, I was surprised when I read about laser treatment. How come other Podiatrists and doctors aren't aware of this procedure??? Just shows you have to be your own advocate and perform your own research. Anyway, what a pleasing experience. I consulted Dr. Lee for a toe infection the day before I was to drive out of town for the weekend. I was very concerned because I had had the same situation once before, but the podiatrist who had treated me had cut and left me in severe pain--and charged a ridiculous amount for the favor. Dr. Lee is very personable and gives you a lot of information. His staff at the College office location are very helpful. I've been going there for over a year for the laser toe treatments. It is a slow process but compared to ingesting drugs which could cause further side-effects, this is the better alternative. So, I was glad to get the yelp deal to cut back on my treatment expense. I bought 2 certificates of $75@ for a $100 treatment. The first certificate covered treatment for 3 toes with an additional $25 out of pocket. Last Saturday, treatment was for 2 toes and I still had to dish out $25.00 - which makes this deal not a deal at all.
