I had a muscle strain sport injury with my shoulder blade, shoulder, and tricept and after coming here for three months of weekly attendance, those areas feel rehabilitated. The therapists and assistant therapists like Amanda are very knowledgeable in knowing what stretches and exercises can help you as well massaging the right areas . They're very attentive to your needs and very personable. Don't be afraid to tell them what works for you and what doesn't as they're all there to help you. As mentioned before coming here, workout clothes are recommended since you will be doing a lot of movement and possibly working up a sweat - you are essentially going to a gym with a personal trainer who will needle or massage you at the end. When it's time for me to discharge, I'll definitely be celebrating my return to normalcy(and not paying the medical bills) yet at the same time, a little bit crestfallen as the staff here has grown on me and I will miss them a little.

His expertise/wisdom is based in years of experience and his manner is patient, focused, and proactive. I've seen him for various issues related to shoulder/arm dysfunction, and he's focused on long-term health, mobility, and strength. His relaxed nature allows him to connect easily with patients. Recently, I've needed weekly manual support and dry needling to prepare for an intensive fly fishing trip, and he's been as passionate as me to help me heal and prepare. I've had dry needling with various PTs in Atlanta, and there's something to be said about Tony's approach -- that he teaches other practitioners on the weekends speaks to his incredible skill and knowledge.

The treatments were helpful from the initial session through the very last one (I did 5 weekly sessions to begin with). Not only has he reduced the discomfort, clicking, and cracking in my jaw, but systemically he's helped my neck, which led to improvements in my posture and by extension, gone is the shoulder pain and discomfort I've lived with for several decades. Tony's unique combination of needling and muscular release, and the simple strengthening home exercise routine he gave me, created an experience was greater than the sum of its parts. Tony not only improved the functioning of the joint, but recommended simple but effective lifestyle changes (making my workspace more ergonomic for example). All in all, his work has not only impacted the problem I went to see him for, but has had overarching positive effect on my day to day health. The last thing I'll mention is that he was incredibly effective at communicating throughout each session (and at the start of the session in reference to the work he had done the session before). He was invested in knowing how each component of the therapy felt, in the moment, and long term. He was sensitive to not only communication through words, but also body language. I found that some of the sensations defied being put into words, and in those moments he helped me bridge the gap through his extensive experience as a therapist and educator in the field. Run, don't walk, while he has openings. You won't recognize yourself in a month's time.

After NOT being able to be treated by Wellstar Ortho due to my only-seems-to-only-read-high-at-their-facility blood pressure issues, my orthopedic surgeon referred me to this place. My doc's office told me to expect a call from them. After a week with no phone call - I decided to call my doctor's office again. They assured me they'd sent the referral and suggested that I call Emory directly. Before ending the call, they even double-checked my file and visually confirmed that they had a fax confirmation. They provided me with the number for Emory. When I called Emory, the receptionist / Office Manager answered the phone shouting and laughing with someone in the background. When she finally managed to stop laughing and calling on the Lord, she said, "Hello?" As though I'd call her personal cell phone instead of a place of business. I said, "Is this Emory?" And she said 'Yes' as though I was an idiot for asking. I explained why I was calling and she said that she hadn't had a referral from Dr. Morrison's office in ages. When I explained that I'd just talked to them moments ago - she told me that I needed to call them back and have them re-send it. I was very taken aback. I'm used to dealing with medical support team members that are a bit more proactive - but I was in no mood to ask her to PLEASE be helpful and just call the the Dr's office on my behalf. So I call my doctor's office again - and of course, they kept me on the phone while they conference-called Emory. We got the same receptionist / Office Manager again. Of course she insists that she never received the referral so Rita (the manager at my ortho's office) sends it over again and roughly 2 hours later Emory finally calls me to schedule an appointment. I asked for an appointment any day between 1 - 4pm - except Wednesdays. She offered me a Tuesday appt at 11am. ??? On the day of my appointment - when I arrived the staff was cutting up, laughing and having a lot of fun. Shouting across the room talking to one another and the patients. The space itself is tiny. The open air therapy room is literally the size of my downstairs family room (yes, my family room is large, but Yikes! This facility is a LOT smaller than I'd envisioned). And I don't begrudge anyone that has fun at work - so no stars deducted for that. Work should be challenging and fun - but as a newcomer, and an extrovert - I admit I found it a bit daunting. I had to put on my actress hat and pretend that I'm an extrovert too. This is just a warning - if you are looking for a quiet, serious, sedated physical therapy atmosphere - this is NOT the place. My therapist, Kristi, was pleasant & seemed empathetic which is always great (and sorely lacking in some folks employed in the medical profession) but there were a couple of things she did that were unique compared to any physical therapy I've ever had. For instance, she told me how many reps she wanted me to do, but then she'd either wander off leaving me lost because I thought SHE was counting my reps. Or she'd stay right there but start talking to her co-worker - which made it difficult for me to do the counts in my head. I kept losing track and then I felt bad - like I'm a doofus because I can't block out background noises well enough to keep track of my counting. She also didn't help me sit up from the table when it was time to go. She was preparing to leave / get off for the day - so I was on my own. (She left before I did thanks to my Who's on First conversation with the receptionist / Office Mgr - below). I don't typically need help sitting up from this position, but I'd pulled a muscle in my side two days prior so I would have LOVED some help on this day. Lol. The icing on the cake was one final interaction with the receptionist / Office Mgr. When I thought it was time to pay - she explained that she wouldn't be collecting payment from me because though she'd verified my insurance, she didn't know how much my visit would be today and that once they filed the claim, they would let me know. She said it would be 25% of their contracted rate with my insurance provider. After a bunch of back and forth - I told her that I would have to hold off on scheduling my next appointment until I know what my co-pay per visit will cost. I still don't understand why she didn't find out what my contracted rate was before my appointment date? She had 9 days to find out. I want my knee 'fixed' - but I've got a mortgage to pay. So right now my therapy is on pause and I'll be sitting here on pins and needles hoping I don't wind up with some surprise $800 medical bill / balance arriving in the mail. 3 stars means A-OK on Yelp so I'm awarding them that because I think the therapists are knowledgeable and caring. And the 3 patients I encountered during my visit seemed to really enjoy themselves.

I was unable to sleep comfortably in my bed. Combine my injury with my pride kn not wanting to ask for help, that is indicative of my pain level. I went to BenchMark with an open mind, and my core strength has improved to the point that I can get into and out of my bed with no additional pain, and it has only been a week and a half of appointments. They seem to target the exact muscle groups I need so that I put less strain on my broken ribs, and I follow the home assignments they provide. I can go the entire day without my pain medication (oxycodone), and I am less than two weeks from breaking my ribs. The part I look forward to the most is the care given by their therapists. They are extremely knowledgeable and professional. Rowana has been assigned to me, and she has a caring nature and positive energy, combined with her knowledge of incremental treatment options, and I am extremely satisfied and look forward to returning during my rehabilitation process. I hear the interactions between each therapist and patient, and they all share the same qualities. But Rowana is the best, and if there is a silver lining that has come from my accident, it is being treated by her. They all are great, though.
