OMG!!! Why have I waited so long…read more I have been in agony for about a year and a half. My neck has been killing me and it has been destroying my quality of life. I went in the other day and scheduled an appointment with one of the most amazing people I've met in Winston Salem (not divulging names here for privacy but you'll know when you meet her). Then I saw my Physical therapist. Incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and a master at her job. I received a dry needling session and a bit of strengthening exercises. HECK YEAH!! I'm not going to go crazy and say I'm cured but dang it if I'm not feeling a gazillion times better. I can move my head without pain and I can even write this review without tears coming to my eyes from bending my neck.

I was in a tremendous amount of pain and agony...on crunches and he suspected I tore my meniscus. My first thought was omg am I gonna need surgery. He walked into the room veey calm, cool, collected and professional. He listened to me thoroughly as I explained eveeything that happened to me. He explained in detailed that they offer various lines of treatment and that the 1st was the R.I.C.E method combined with a very strong pack of medrol (prednisone) and then physical therapy. I am relieved to announce it ALL worked and I did not need surgery. He told me initially that he did not think I needed surgery at all and the fact that he was right in eveeything he told me comforted me and gave me a ton of hope. I did PT for 6 weeks several times a week and was gd as new. Had a followup with Dr. Wham and he was so happy for me that I was all better and ensured me that PT works and he always highly recommends it. He discharged me and that was that. I highly recommend not just this establishment, but Dr. What specifically. I would not see any other ortho DR/surgeon, but him.

Dr. O'Toole with Novant Health Brain and Spine ordered X-rays of my spine due to my complaint of…read morefoot and sciatic pain. The X-rays gave the unexpected diagnosis of Scoliosis in the lowest part of my spine. I was shocked and nervous. Luckily, mine was diagnosed sooner rather than later. Dr. O'Toole and his staff were lovely. He suggested core strengthening and flexibility exercises. I requested guidance on exercises and a referral to Novant Health Rehab, in the same building. My Physical Therapy Team is Erika and Ryan. They explained that this won't cure Scoliosis but my strengthened muscles will better support my spine and hopefully slow the progress. Erika did my evaluation and explained the first batch of exercises and gave me an elastic band and printed instructions with illustrations, so I could also do them at home. She was so nice and helpful. Ryan has been doing the actual PT with me and I've been twice. He added more exercises and gave me the revised printed instructions with illustrations. Ryan has also been very nice, efficient and thorough with explaining new exercises and he patiently answers all my questions. I do my at home exercises everyday and my flexibility and core strength is improving steadily. I really appreciate the spacious and clean facility and all it's equipment and tools, especially because it is close to home. The overall atmosphere of the PT area, other staff and other patients is very pleasant. I actually enjoy the appointments. After every appointment they update MyChart so I can read all their notes about my progress. I hope you don't, but if you should ever need physical rehabilitation, for health or injuries, I highly recommend them.

Everyone in the practice seems genuinely interested in my wellbeing. Whether I see Dr. Benfield for my hand, Dr. Norris for my shoulder or one of their respective PA's, I know that I am assured excellent care and attention. The practice itself is located in an easily accessible location that has plenty of parking, a clean and pleasant waiting area, and short wait periods. There is even an Urgent Care for Ortho related injuries located onsite that does not require an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Benfield and Dr. Norris at EmergeOrtho. I scheduled the appointment to see a specialist for what I was told I truly needed by another EmergeOrtho doctor at a pervious appointment. Place is very convenient for Summerfield residents but really need to either have doctors there when scheduled or have them do their surgery on days not scheduled to be in the office seeing patients. Patients have jobs as well as the doctors and that's why we all have scheduled appointments that need to be kept. Just wish EmergeOrtho communicated as well telling you each and everyday you have an upcoming appointment as they should do when the doctor fails to come into the office to see his/her scheduled patients.

Over my 48 1/2 year career I have been privileged to know and work with a large number of skilled and highly regarded physicians. Dr. Sarvar certainly belongs in this league of health professionals. My wife first saw Dr. Sarvar regarding post-surgery rotator cuff concerns followed by a personalized program to address additional areas after he had started his own practice. I observed from her experience how his approach is so personalized and targeted at specific objectives. Equally important I saw how invested in his patients he is - reflected in a degree of availability rare in these times, as well as outstanding communication. At my wife's encouragement, I decided to have an initial assessment, even though at 82 years of age I was not having any pain or other known physical limitations. My first session proved to be a fascinating experience. Having had a recent minor tennis strain injury shortly before the appointment, he designed a program for stretching tight muscle groups and to engage in active healing for the injury. The results were amazing when at the 30- day follow-up my former 28 cm limit from forward-bending touching the floor had decreased to 12 cm. A subsequent program was designed to promote continued improvement in flexibility and balance, while adding some strength-building. All this was designed to achieve a more functional ability to engage in specific sports activities such as tennis, golf, and trout fishing. He is one of the most engaged, dedicated, and skilled professionals I have ever gotten to know and worked with. His knowledge of anatomy, function, and how to design interventions for patient concerns to reach one's goals for improvement is simply amazing. I tore the meniscus in my right knee in November 2025. I knew exactly what it was, because I had…read moretorn my left meniscus several years earlier. I made an appointment to be seen by one of the PAs. She had them x-ray my knee, to make sure there was no bone issue going on. After a physical exam, she told me that I was correct, it was a torn meniscus. She wanted me to get an MRI done to get a good look at it. She did not provide me with anything to help with my knee in the meantime. When I tore my left meniscus, I had been given a brace to wear by the doctor I saw at their Clemmons location. That helped me to continue to be able to walk. Luckily, I still had that brace, so I just wore it for the same amount of time I had been advised to the previous time. The MRI confirmed the tear. The surgeon I saw when I came in for the results of the MRI gave me two options. One was surgery, where they would use a scope to go into my knee and clean out the loose tissue. He said I would be out of work for 12 weeks, possibly less, if I felt well enough to go back sooner. The second option was physical therapy. He said there was a chance it might not help, and it was a very conservative approach to my condition. I almost felt like he was hoping I would say surgery. I opted for physical therapy. Luckily, it worked, and I do not need surgery.

I had a consultation with Dr. Yoder at the Winston Salem location for a PRP injection to my left…read moreknee. I scheduled my PRP injection for April 24th. The ONLY thing Dr. Yoder told me was to not take ibuprofen or any other anti inflammatory medications 2 weeks before my injection and to not take any 4 days after my injection. Insurance does not cover the injection which I'm fine with if it delays me getting a knee replacement. Dr. Yoder DID NOT GIVE ME ANY AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS. Just to not ice my knee and the information about anti inflammatory medications. It's extremely upsetting that I looked up after care almost 2 weeks after my injection bc I was in so much pain. Only to find out online that you should have STRICT instructions of what NOT to do until 12 weeks AFTER your injection! I had been doing several things on the list of WHAT NOT TO DO bc I wasn't advised. I'm praying I didn't mess up the injection since I wasn't told what NOT to do for 12 weeks. It's extremely upsetting that Dr. Yoder was dishonest in his notes after my appointment that he "gave me after care instructions". Which was a bold faced lie. It's also extremely upsetting I paid for an extremely expensive injection and since I wasn't advised of any after care. I may have ruined the injection since I was doing things I shouldn't have been doing. The aftercare I looked up stated if you did things before the 12 weeks the injection ultimately will fail. It's exhausting going to doctors and they rarely listen and treat you like a number AND aren't truthful in after summary visit notes. I like other doctors at OrthoCarolina but I definitely don't recommend Dr. Yoder
