I've been to dozens of chiropractors over the years. Dr. Beneski is simply the best. Other chiropractors range from getting very serious to scare you into agreeing to some six month treatment plan (which you don't need) to some that just meekly massage the area that is out of place and try using a little tool that just clicks hoping to get some movement. Dr. Beneski pokes around and pinpoints the area that is out of alignment and then, with the precision of an army sniper, he adjusts that specific area to deliver immediate relief of almost all of the back pain you may have walked in with. He is fantastic. I highly recommend you try Beneski Chiropractic before wasting your time with any other chiropractor as they'll be at least an 80% chance you'll get either the 'sign up for my 6 month plan' guy or the low strength, ineffective, we'll keep working on this - use a heating pad type. I wish I could give zero stars. I also wish I could get back the 70 minutes I wasted in the waiting room, and each second of every miserable interaction with the receptionist. She is an awful, nasty, unfortunate person -- and I have NO idea why she was hired to be the first point of contact or how she still has a job. Dr. Beneski is a good chiropractor. He is thorough, holistic, and comprehensive. Unfortunately, I had to wait nearly an hour in his waiting room the first time I went to see him because his receptionist didn't think it was important to tell him I had arrived. I saw this happen with 2 other patients, too. As a new patient, I had a few questions about the paperwork -- to which, without exception, she would role her eyes before giving one-word answers. This morning I arrived to my appointment at 7:33. Yes, I was 3 minutes late. No, there was no one else in the office. Yes, I filled out paperwork. Yes, I asked if the doctor was running late. Yes, she waited until 7:39 to acknowledge me. And, yes, at 7:45, I walked out after another extraordinarily disrespectful interaction with the oh-so-sweet, knowledgeable, friendly, and eager-to-help receptionist. I will never step foot in this office again. Don't waste your time - go somewhere else, where the office actually makes an effort to help you see the doctor. read more

This was my first time ever at a chiropractor. It will probably be my last. I had a pulled muscle that did not want to go back into place by itself. My doctor suggested this office, so I gave them a call. So they put me on regular treatment which did cure the problem but there was so much side effects from the treatment in the end it was not worth to come back. The main side effect I had was later that day I received treament, I would have to roll my neck to realign everything, because it felt out of wack! It also seemed they were more about getting money from the patient (because it is covered from my health insurance) than actually treating the problem. It didn't matter that I felt it was not necessary for me to come in because I was feeling fine. Nope, had to keep it up because, this is what the body needs. I have been living my life without Chiropractors, so I doubt that it was necessary to go from birth on (and have been fine since the appointment). I think if I ever get a tense muscle again, I will just go for Massage therapy (it does practically the same thing anyway (without the bad cracking)! read more

Recommended by a co - worker and I was having bad neck pain causing headaches etc. So far I am doing well and he is very friendly but agree they are trying to make a living and will try to get you to come forever. The reality is that you need to go for adjustments for several weeks if you are out of alignment - learn the exercises for what ails you eat well and exercise and if you don't tweak the problem again you don't have to come back. 3.5 STARS I have been to Beneski's Chiropractic only for massages. And only when I was able to obtain group coupon deals for them! The very first time, my massage was with Dr. Beneski himself and it was FABULOUS! He worked out all my kinks and I felt like a new person after! My back felt great and my body was rejuvenated. my last couple massages have been with Dan, their massage therapist. Dan is pretty good at what he is. He doesn't necessarily work out your kinks but proved a very relaxing massage. I have fallen asleep during them only waking up with sheet imprints on my face! Dan is very nice but seemed so awkward to talk to. He is a jolly ole guy and that just adds more to the awkward effect but is super nice. The one thing that creeps me out though, is that after a massage, he is often just hanging outside the room. I would prefer if he just met me in the reception lounge or something. AWKWARD, to have a man be right outside while you get dressed. Another tidbit, when he leans over you, you can almost feel his belly against you. He is a rather large burly man. So be warned. This happened to me a few times but only for a very brief moment that it didn't really have any effect to interrupt my relaxation state of mind. The receptionist is a finicky one. I don't ever recall her being friendly. The last time I was in there, I stood there and watched her flip and count sheets of paper before she acknowledged me. Not sure whether I was suppose to sign on or speak up first since she didn't even look up from what she was doing. The location is right in the Harvard Vanguard building which makes it super easy and convenient for those who work in the Financial District. Overall, it's a nice place to get a massage especially if you score a group coupon deal and want a nice relaxing quick nap! read more

Dr. Beneski came highly recommended to me after I messed up my back trying to pick up my son who was trying to go up the down escalator. The pain I had was keeping me from doing almost anything, including sleep. I placed a call and they saw me that day (which is unheard of for new patients at a doctor's office). The receptionist has always been very kind and Dr. Beneski has been very good, polite, and respectful. I appreciate how he explains everything and his stretches/exercises have been crazy helpful; you do need to do them every day if you want results, which I most definitely needed. Dr. Beneski is great! I have only been to one other chiropractor regularly and have been skeptical of trying other doctors since I have moved to Boston but he is really great. The office is professional and neat and he really knows whats hes talking about. Dr. Beneski will take the time to sit with you, explain what is wrong with your neck/back/hips whatever and show you a way how to make a plan to improve - not only by coming to adjustments but also by working on your personal exercises habits so that you can be back to doing things without your body hurting all the time. He works with you so that you don't become reliant on a doctor to fix your pain but rather you are in charge of your own body. Going through my insurance was a breeze and they take credit cards! While the services are ok - nothing special, but ok. But what makes me give this place 1 star is there inability to process accurately payments. I was sent a bill last year for services rendered. This bill was covered by my insurance health fund and my insurance company transferred Beneski the money - I had the funds transfer data on my insurance company portal. I tired calling Beneski, but nobody picked up, neither did they call me back after I left a message. Since they did not call me back I assumed that everything was settled. Today I received the same bill for the same amount. So I had to send over to Beneski all the payment data available. They appear to be incompetent accounting-wise and unable register payments. I do not recommend them, unless you want a trail of bills coming your way afterwards even after payment. There are similar quality and better chiropractors out there with less hassle. read more

I'm so grateful to Dr. Beneski for being a voice of intelligence, common sense, and positive thinking throughout a complicated recovery. I've honestly never met a doctor so good at his job. He knows his field inside out, and he's honest about what chiropractic work can and can't do. He runs a very busy practice, yet his attention is always with the patient. Where other doctors were eager to jump to a diagnosis, Dr. B. was more of a calculative problem solver. I've been able to function without taking much time off work and I'm going to be ok, thanks to him. The office staff are very kind and it is easy to schedule appointments. I've gone to Dr Beneski for over a year and have gone to other chiropractors as well. This is how he compares: The pros: he is among the better chiropractors with regard to how he does adjustments. He has a strong grip and is able to give deep adjustments. It is also easy to get an appointment with him. The cons: To me, he stated that his philosophy is about treating the root of the problem so that the problem is solved. He said that he does not believe that patients should have to come back for regular maintenance if the underlying problem can be addressed. That being said, he is very into getting you to sign up for treatment plans and buying the various products that his office sells. He is the most into marketing of any chiropractor I've every been to. He is attentive in the first several treatments and it is early on that he wants you to fill out a review of his services. He has a binder in the waiting area full of positive reviews. What is missing is that after the treatment plan, he is less attentive, he spends less time with patients than other chiropractors, and he is far pushier about selling the next package or cream or massage or exercise equipment. Despite saying that he doesn't believe in ongoing treatment if the root problem can be addressed, in practice, he is very into ongoing treatment. So all in all, he is among the good chiropractors out there, but it comes with a marketing pitch and drop off in attentiveness over time. read more

I am a musculoskeletal researcher at MGH. I visited Dr. Beneski a total of 4 times and wrote the following letter afterwards. I wanted to explain my decision to discontinue care at your office. I very much appreciate your time and effort, especially in looking into payment plans to facilitate my continuation of care. However, I don't feel, my neck/back issue can benefit from your services. I originally just was interested in the week to wellness package but I agreed with much of what you said and I very much believe in alternative therapies, as I practice several. After a couple extra visits, I really felt no improvement in my symptoms, and surely not enough to justify continuing to spend $70 for 5 minutes of your time. I will be honest with you, the adjustments are merely cracking my back much like we crack our knuckles and the only benefit I received was from the very brief massage you incorporated into each session. My symptoms were relieved but returned within minutes of leaving. This is not to say I received no benefit from visiting your office. Both the massage therapist and nutrition counselor I feel are top notch and the exercise is also helpful and I thank you for those. Unfortunately for chiropractors, reputations will continue to suffer in the absence of scientific evidence as well as consistent results in patients. Despite the tough economy and other challenges, I strongly believe decisions for patients' health should be made in the best interest of the patient and if a practitioner doubts his/her ability to provide the best chance for healing then it is their responsibility to guide the patient to better care. This is one of the qualities that marks an excellent provider: the ability to accurately appraise their own abilities with awareness of the many biases naturally present. Unfortunately Dr. Beneski is unable to accomplish and practice with this quality, it was clear to me he was guided by monetary influence. read more

I bought a coupon to visit for this place and, boy I'm happy I did. I purchased a 1-Hour therapeutic massage and Solange was my masseuse; she was AMAZING. I wish I could make these letters bigger so you can understand how great she was. Solange paid attention to my pain areas and worked on them like they were her personal enemies. I feel so relaxed and will see her again, soon. A few things to keep in mind: - They charge in advance. - They are more of a medical/Chiropractic center. - They are a bit pricey (Among other things, I assume it's because of the location, awards received, and overall quality of service, none of those things are bad btw, just an observation!) - They have a 24-hours cancellation policy. - If you drive, make sure to bring quarters or your Boston transit card. There are meters everywhere but, it may be difficult to find parking. After all, it is Boston. (Alternatively, you can schedule the appointment at 7:30am like I did, and you will most likely find parking right upfront. Yeah!) I noticed the awards and have made a research on this place (reason why I bought the coupon), so I scheduled an appointment with a chiropractor. I will update my review once I've seen him, For now, I'm a happy and relaxed client! Also, because I bought a coupon, they let me purchase another hour at a lower rate. I began seeing Dr. Beneski this past summer. He had me coming in for visits 2-3+ times a week for adjustments. After about a week or two of my visits, I started noticing a new neck pain that I had never experienced before. I expressed my concern to Dr. Beneski, and he told me that the pain was normal and to be expected. I continued seeing him multiple times a week for about 2-3 months, and the pain continued to persist. At that time, I decided to stop seeing him, because it was quite clear that this was the cause of my neck pain. 7 months after my initial visit, I am still experiencing the neck pain that started when I began visiting Dr. Beneski. I have tried regular massages, physical therapy, craniosacral therapy, Temperpedic pillows, different topical treatments, and warm neck wraps, and nothing has helped. Looking back, I wish I never went to see Dr. Beneski, because my visits resulted in a new and persisting type of pain that I had never experienced prior to my visit. read more

I had a 9am appt which I planned my whole day around and made a 10am appt for work down the street thinking I would have plenty of time to get there after a 9am Chiro appt. unfortunately I wanted until 9:35 when I told the receptionist I would have to leave in 10 mins to get to my 10am appt. she told me i would be cutting it close and so I had to reschedule. The best massage I've received in Boston. I went to Dr. Beneski for a chiropractic massage. This massage was unlike any other I had every had.. on cruise ships, on Newbury, at different boutiques across town, etc. Dr. Beneski has a very good knowledge of anatomy and muscle physiology, far better than any other massage therapist I have encountered. Instead of focusing on relaxation with scented candles and such, he focused on kneading my muscles and working out all the little aches and pains. After massages elsewhere I typically feel muscle relief for 1-2 days, after seeing Dr. Beneski I could feel the positive effects of the massage 1 week later. I went to Dr. Beneski after injuring my neck and he did a great job decreasing my pain and helping me better understand my injury. After my first treatment, Dr. Beneski asked me to sign up for a follow up appointment four days later. At this appointment I felt much better and Dr. Beneski gave me a brief neck massage and then had me lie down in the room for 15 minutes. After that, I was told to sign up for four more follow up appointments. Needless to say, I felt like he was pushing me to sign up for more and more appointments even though this was supposed to heal within two weeks and I already felt much better. My advice: He is a great chiropractor, but be aware that he will try to sell you additional products and push/sell you into booking additional appointments that may or may not be necessary. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Beneski's off and on for 4 years. I went initially when I was pregnant and experiencing random aches and pains. I started going again three years later when my neck seized up. I must counter other reviews that have stated that he is always marketing products. I have found that that is absolutely not the case (in fact, he once mentioned a special foot cushion for treating back pain and his office did not carry it, to my frustration!) He treats the source of the pain and tries to figure out what is really causing it. My adjustments with him have been quick and effective (i.e., I have experienced pain relief) within 24 hours. During both periods in the last four years when I have come to him for treatment, he has treated me until I feel no more pain, a few months at a time. Then when the pain stops, I discontinue treatment and his office is very understanding. read more

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, but it makes me angry. I guess everyone have different experience. As for me, I used to work close by their office and a lot of people from my work went there and had a great experience. In fact I got there myself by referral. Let's start with receptionist. I see people have bad experience in this area, however, in my case it's different. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of my receptionist, but she was extremely nice, always followed up on my appointments, called me for reminders, was always reachable by phone and never made me wait for long in a waiting room. Dr. Beneski is great. I had a neck trauma couple of years ago, a herniated disk that was pressing on my nerve thus causing numbness and poor responses from my right arm. I was barely able to lift it, couldn't even hold a cup. I was told by the doctors that I'd need a surgery, which I had later on. Meanwhile, prior and after surgery I was going to Dr. Beneski for treatment. He is very knowledgably and professional guy who first evaluated my xrays and gave me lots of valuable advices. He was treating me prior to the surgery helping with the pain as well as with emotional stress which was driving me crazy at the time, I was scared and paranoid. After the surgery, I kept going there for more therapy to help me heal faster, and faster I did. Now my arm restored to about 90% and I am able to do pull-ups again. Dr. Beneski also made sure that the surgery went well, by looking at my xrays and MRI's. The bottom line is that he helped me a lot and I don't know what I'd do if it wasn't for him. Dr. Beneski is the first chiropractor whose services I have ever received. I have been going regularly for six weeks, and am pleased so far. He is very professional and personable, and is quite knowledgeable about his practice and attentive to my specific pains and problems. As mine are extensive and nagging, and largely due to long-existing arthritis, the progress is slow in some areas, but I am hopeful I will continue to see improvement. Some back pains have eased quite a bit, but other areas are slower in improving. He seems to be the first health professional I have seen who has shown genuine interest in my overall health and well-being, and has noticed problems with my feet and other areas which may be contributing to my pains, and which no one before has noticed. I like the overall view of my health and the individual approach, as opposed to the pills and tests which can be common in many aspects of health care. I am giving five stars even though I'm not 100% better as I continue to go and think he has the right approach for my problems. It is certainly preferable to back surgery.
