I had double jaw surgery with genioplasty in May 2019 with Dr. Walline to correct my underbite. Out of work for 2 weeks, on a soft food/non chew diet for 8 weeks, and did Invisalign for pre/post op rather than braces. Experience was fantastic. Recovery went smoothly and I'm very happy with the results. Really glad I went with LACOMS and Walline. Jacquie, the doctor's treatment coordinator, is really great as well. I was so nervous before going in. Right now, it has only been less than 16hrs after surgery. So far so good. Heavy Bleeding stopped within 8hrs. I had 2 wisdom teeth removed , and 2 impacted k9 all at once. I chose to go to sleep while the procedure is in process. Good decision. I don't wanna know anything. I believe I was out by 9am the procedure started at roughly 8.30am. Well done. I could have just parked at the building if I know it would be this quick lol. Amazing physician and surgeon. Went with our niece to all the appointments (she is from Europe) and cared for her post-surgery. Dr Walline made her so gorgeous that it's unbelievable. It took a lot of effort on her part - wearing braces for a while, going for checkups, etc, not to mention the tough recovery - but he was there for her. His digital software during the exam helped her decide exactly the angle of her jaw and chin. Dr. Walline is a fantastic surgeon at the forefront of his craft. I was referred to him by my orthodontist (I also visited a couple other surgeons just to get more opinions) for some elective procedures. After speaking to a few oral surgeons I could easily see that Dr. Walline stood out from the pack, not only for his gracious bedside manner but his deep experience in newer procedures. First I had two impacted wisdom teeth removed under general anesthesia. Everyone gave me their nightmare stories about having wisdom teeth taken out and I braced myself for swelling and days of pain and numbness. But none of it came to pass. Dr. Walline is so skilled that I had basically zero swelling and I was pretty much back to normal within 24 hours. This is even more remarkable given that both of the wisdom teeth were at strange angles and needed some doing to be removed. I returned to Dr. Walline for an elective procedure called micro-osteoperforations, which help to speed up treatment time for orthodontics. Dr. Walline was experienced in both this procedure and a similar (but more invasive) procedure called Wilckodontics, which had been recommended to me by a few other doctors. Very few surgeons have experience with either procedure, but Dr. Walline has done both, so his unique perspective and experience not only meant I was in good hands, but it also meant that I went with the simpler and less invasive micro-osteoperforations option. Ultimately, I'm convinced that this saved me money, time and a lot of potential for pain and negative side-effects. I was referred by my husband's co-worker to Dr. Walline. I researched his professional background and was happy that he was UCLA educated, in addition to his glowing referral. I had an infected wisdom tooth that needed OUT ASAP along with the other three. I have avoided the dentist for 12 years because of this and had developed a large fear. The office was very neat and clean with a friendly receptionist and business manager. The techs were also friendly and professional. When Dr. Walline entered the room, I was instantly put at ease. He was very kind and soft spoken. He actually told me how my wisdom teeth had progressed since 12 years ago and the future problems I would have if I didn't have them all out. But he didn't bully me into doing all four at once. His intelligence appealed to my logic and I decided to have all my wisdom teeth removed after our discussion, which shocked my husband as I had been crying in the lobby over having one tooth out. I was totally freaked out when I found out I had to get an impacted wisdom tooth removed - but enter Dr. Walline. My dentist highly recommended him and I finally got my troublesome tooth out this past November. And I have to say my experience was A+! I was a bit of a nervous wreck even though I was only getting 1 tooth removed, but Dr. Walline was really nice, informative, and made me feel confident going into the procedure. I decided to stay awake (local anesthesia) and the actual surgery only took a couple minutes (and this included cutting into the gum, breaking the tooth in half and then removing it). The offices are pretty swanky - and he even plugged my iphone into a speaker dock so that I had surround sound of my music during the surgery. Although apparently it only works on iphones before the iphone 5. Parking is $9 (the 2nd hour is free - so yes, it's century city and they bite you on the parking) but for the peace of mind I had going to see someone top notch about my problem tooth it was worth it. Lastly - I don't have dental insurance so the office was really nice about working with me to make the consultation + procedure affordable and advising me of all of the costs. It was very unfortunate news considering the many issues I have had with this particular tooth over the years, which happens to be one of my top front teeth. I was referred to Dr. Walline, at LACOMS for a failed root canal and aged crowns which gave way to decay with no chance for survival . . . the option I chose was to have extractions and implants with local anesthetics. I had double jaw surgery back in June of 2015. I never thought I would have the confidence to follow through with such a large surgery. However, fate intervened and the most frightening situation turned out to be one of the very best things that ever could have happened. Drs. Walline DDS, MD and Relle DDS were my surgeons. They are the most thoughtful and the kindest people I have ever met. The planning and care that went into my procedure was perfect. They used high tech equipment including study models and a in office ConeBeam CT scan to cephalometric measurements which are then analyzed and submitted to insurance who then decides whether the procedure is medically necessary and weather the planned correction is warranted. My financial contribution was extremely reasonable. My bite was not the best and my jaw alignment was off just enough to cause a lot of wear and trauma to my teeth. This was despite two rounds of orthodontia with competent orthodontists and placement of dental crowns. This surgery aligned my jaw, improved my aesthetics and brought my teeth to an occlusion that greatly minimized and eliminated much of the dental trauma I had experienced from my skeletal based malocclusion. But most importantly, it allowed my teeth to become aligned and brought the maxillary and mandibular jaw configurations close enough so that prosthodontic work (equilibration and some crown replacements) would actually achieve a functional occlusion. I had my procedure at the onsite surgical suite but I know that LACOMS contracts with some of the best hospitals in Los Angeles if you prefer and your insurance company requests that. My aftercare was at a lovely facility, Serenity Surgical Recovery in Santa Monica. The rooms are beautiful, the staff is warm and lovely and the food was tailored to my needs. My husband stayed with me there and was also treated with the highest caliber of care. This surgery was three years ago. I have stayed in touch with Jacquie, Dr. Walline's Treatment Coordinator. I consider her one of my best friends now. Yes, we live at a distance but I am that comfortable with her and trust her and everyone else in this office completely. This goes for the entire staff. Jacquie, Ruth (Dr. Kupferman's Treatment Coordinator) and everyone else who works the front and back offices. Everyone is friendly, warm and approachable. There is no judgement. Everyone works with an attitude of service and grace. In addition, Dr. Steven Kupferman DMD, MD, another principle at LACOMS, placed two dental implants in my upper jaw. That was approximately two years ago. They are solid, they feel like my natural teeth and I am so very grateful for receiving the best care from him. He used surgical guides to ensure that the implants were placed correctly and that they did not impact the nerves or adjoining teeth or their roots adversely. He also uses as ConeBeam CT scan prior to placement to ensure bone health and success. Prior to placing temporary restorations, he ensures that the implants are solid and ready to withstand biting force. He used Nobel BioCare implants, one of the best products there is. I am sure I will be requiring additional implant restoration in the future and would not think of letting anyone else touch me. I have had zero pain with either procedure (jaw surgery or implant placement), required no postoperative pain medications and my sensation following the orthognathic surgery is 100% normal. I look great (at least I think so), my mouth functions much better and I don't feel like I am going to crack my front teeth out of my mouth anymore. I had double jaw surgery in November, which Dr. Walline and his team make me feel at ease and did an amazing job! I am the type to worry a lot about big procedures, research negative outcomes and what can go wrong but I felt completely safe and confident in Dr. Walline and his team. After a lengthy procedure, I was only in the hospital overnight and part of the next day. It was a rather easy recovery for such a serious surgery. I was currently still in school and was able to go back to school after two weeks (I was also able to work on homework, turn it in, and study for my finals during those two weeks). Dr. Walline's bedside manners were wonderful, but I cannot get a return phone call about a biopsy. I had soft tissue removed on November 26, and it is now December 18, and I still haven't heard a word. I called three days ago and was told by a receptionist that results are in and he would call. I called again yesterday, December 16, and I received the same response. Whether the biopsy came back normal or with results I need to be concerned about (cancer?), it strikes me as really important information to share with a patient. read more

I got all four wisdom teeth removed back in November 2015. I was in and out in less than a half hour since I was awake for my procedure. It took me longer to park and check in than to sit for the procedure. And it probably took longer than normal since he had to break one of them because it was coming in at an angle. Dr. Walline is awesome! I can't say enough nice things about him. He performed orthognathic surgery on my upper and lower jaw. The results are amazing! I can breath and don't need my CPAP machine anymore. I used to have a constant runny nose and he fixed that too. I always had to carry a Kleenex with me because of the constant dripping; I haven't had to wipe my nose since the surgery. I feel much better, and of course look better. Dr. Walline was super gentle with me after my surgery and always considerate of what I was going through. He even gave me his cell phone number after my surgery. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Walline. His office staff was absolutely delightful. As someone in her mid-30s, I am definitely not the ideal candidate for wisdom teeth removal. However, they made the entire experience an absolute breeze. I chose IV sedation and would recommend it to everyone! As such, I do not recall most of the effective and efficient procedure. But based on my quick recovery, I know that he and his staff did an phenomenal job. I followed their after-care directions and healed so well that my dentist commended me (and Dr. Walline) two weeks later!
