The situation was dire, parts everywhere, a failed attempt by another refinish/rebuilder...they were willing to step in and fix what felt to be a hopeless situation. 10 years later we live 50 miles away and still use Benke...why? My movers on a cross country moved screwed up various things on my piano during my move. I called Benke to do a repair, move and tune. I saw them quickly diagnose the problem and fix it like a work of art. They were very familiar with my piano and they were able to quickly take apart the keys and get to the problem. It was clear they were very familiar with my piano. They were able to fix the piano and move it to my new home without a hitch. Price was very reasonable. Will use them again. read more

I had heard great things about Benke Piano from a couple of people, but unfortunately I did not have an overall great experience. Benke Piano was good in working with a disorganized storage place where my piano had been - Unicorn Moving & Storage. The authorization email allowing Benke to pick up the piano was emailed to a gentleman who just so happened to not be at work the day Benke was scheduled to pick up the piano. We had to reschedule a pick-up date at a later time - definitely inconvenient for me and for Dan at Benke who had planned on moving my piano that day. On the rescheduled date, Dan and his mover ended up showing up at 3:05pm - I had needed to be on the road at 3:15. Originally I was told an arrival time around 1pm. There seemed to be a miscommunication between their office and the movers because the office hadn't told the movers I was on the second floor - which I clearly stated to the lady on the phone in the office because the price she quoted me was for a second floor move. Thankfully, they moved quickly and efficiently. I was more than ready to write a good review and give them four or five stars at this point - I'm too laid back to get upset about a late arrival time...there are bigger things in life to get stressed out about! What made my experience frustrating was something they did *not* tell me up front. I decided to pay the extra $100 to get my piano tuned after the move. I ended up playing it for the last few weeks and realized the tuning wasn't necessary. I called them this morning to tell them I don't need to schedule a tuning and that I'd like my $100 back for the tuning since I won't be scheduling it. They told me that it is their policy to not refund tunings. No one in the office or in the moving crew communicated this to me. No one! I recognize it a business' right to determine what is refundable and not refundable, but to not tell a customer before they purchase something that they will not be able to get their money back is NOT a transparent way of conducting business. This tuning is good for 6 months, but their poor communication has left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. If I would have already had the piano tuned, I would have recognized that getting my money back for services performed would be an entirely different discussion. But no services have been provided and no one told me that once they cashed my check I wouldn't be able to get that money back if I decided not to make use of their services. I hope they start telling customers up front about their non-refundable policy. And I would hope even more that they would seriously consider returning my money for services I did not even use. read more

My piano was put back together incorrectly after a move and was incompletely repaired by a piano tuner who did what he thought would be a quick fix, but the piano wound up needing more extensive repair. I explained the situation to Benke Piano and they were able to accommodate a technician visit the next day! My piano is 100% back to pre-move playable and sounds amazing. Hired these guys to move a baby grand, delayed the move a week and a half because they knew they would need three guys to get it down stairs. Finally we show up on the move day and the little owner guy shows up with one big mover guy and look at it and say they can't move it. This is after dimensions and pictures were handed off for a week and a half. Very disappointing. read more
