Joy Monument has the worst service I have ever seen of any business. In October 2025 (ordered July…read more2025) they placed my Mother's monument incorrectly and admitted to such. I was promised that they would contact me in a few weeks (after a 2 month wait for a response) to fix the stone but they never did. Several months later I contacted them and they apologized for it not getting done. (because they can't work a calendar). Here we are almost a full year since I ordered the stone and it is still not correct. They went to the site and just lifted the stone up for a picture to show me they were doing something, but they made absolutely no attempt to fix the issue, instead suggesting that it was Cave Hill Cemetery's fault even after admitting the job was incorrect. So basically they just went out there to disturb my mother's grave. I know Joy has been around forever, my own family has always used them but they are not operating on the same level anymore. I don't know if they just count on the younger generation to not visit their dead or what but they don't care about you or your family. My family will be going elsewhere from now on, I encourage you to do the same. I will be seeking a civil case.

Joy Monument worked with me to design a spectacular headstone for my mother. David L. managed our…read moreaccount and the details of our design and execution. I cannot explain how much this company, their work ethic, and their flexibility was life affirming in a time that we were dealing with such an intense grief. My review is a few years coming, but every time I look at my mothers headstone I see a work of art that really reminds me of her and is so very unique. Our budget was not extravagant, but our taste was. David began the conversation saying he wanted to do something different, since it sounded like my mom was a vibrant woman. She was and her favorite color was orange. We ended up using orange cut glass as a way to mimic sunshine and the cut of the stone was also not run of the mill. The design was amazing! I worried that they would not fully execute it well but I needn't have. They did exceptional, on time work. Any questions were answered quickly and efficiently. I'm so happy with our headstone. The pride David took in designing a fairly low-budget piece and the enthusiasm he had for serving our family really did not go unnoticed. I hope he is still with he company because he delivered top notch service and quality. So glad I chose this company. For the record, my mother passed 2014, we had her headstone installed the week of her one year anniversary of her passing in 2015. It's been 3 years but her headstone is simply timeless.

As I was departing the nearby Wendy's, I noticed the historical marker and made a quick turn to see…read moremore. The historical marker is in front of a strip mall that contains a veterinarian office and some other professionals. Between that and the fast food restaurant, you'll see a tall mound and at the top, a low stone wall. The marker is on two sides. On one, it reads, "This Hardin County native was one of Kentucky's most celebrated lawyers. In legislature 17 yrs.; rose to House Speaker. Elected lt. gov., he became governor when John J. Crittenden resigned, 1850. Pres. of L&N R.R., 1854-60, when railroad completed. A harsh critic of Presideny Lincoln, Helm favored neutrality for Kentucky in the Civil War. Elected governor 1867. Died after five days in office." And on the other, "This pioneer cemetery includes the graves of John LaRue Helm, who served two incomplete terms as Governor of Kentucky, and his son, Confederate Gen. Ben Hardin Helm, who fell at battle of Chickamauga, September 20, 1863. Gen. Helm and Abraham Lincoln married half-sisters, Emilie and Mary Todd, the daughters of Robert S. Todd of Lexington, Kentucky." The cemetery is at the top of the wall and the gate was open when I stopped by. This family cemetery is definitely well-maintained and contains a number of aged headstones and markers for the Helm family. For those interested in the Civil War and Kentucky history, it is worth a stop. [Review 13602 overall, 921 of 2020, number 112 in Kentucky.]
