I know there are barely Asians in Washington Heights and I was amazed at this liquor store that is owned by Asians. I was just very happy that I'm not the only Asian. I know there are some few Asian dry cleaners and restaurants around in this area but this liquor store is owned by Asians. I came here a couple of times to get Culitos Merlot for a party because of the picture of the wine. It was very cute. A picture of 3 naked people and their butts! It was very cute but then nobody really liked the wine when we opened it so I just bought it for the picture. Also this place got the Bartenura Moscato, which is my favorite drink! Could drink this all day! Very affordable price for 1 bottle! Tastes like apple or white grape juice! Alcohol content is very low so you can drink a lot without getting tipsy! This place also did not check my ID when I was back in college. They just accept your credit card without asking your age so it's good! read more

The more and more I frequent Bennett, the more I fall in love. The guys here, as my roommate puts it, "actually create a sense of community in their store." By far one of the best liquor stores I've ever been to in NYC. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The store itself offers a great variety of decent wines, vodkas, and new things that I've never heard of and best of all, at a reasonable price. Before moving to Washington Heights from Elmhurst, I was pretty much convinced that every liquor store anywhere was the same, ie, a--hole judgmental employees, bad old wines (as most wines below the 20$ price point go bad within 3-5 years after bottling), and stupid prices. But Bennett is different. I visited Bennett the first time about 8 months ago and I've been coming back ever since. The staff, as mentioned, is knowledgeable, friendly and definitely not pushy. I like that. I don't want to be pushed into buying something I don't want. The prices are very reasonable for the city, as I've notice the pricing similarity of other boroughs known to be cheap. The customer conscious and dedicated way of doing business can be observed on the variety of products they sell; all the way from cheap wines and spirits (for when I feel ratchet) to mid and high end products for special occasions. Over all I love this liquor store. I feel welcomed and a sense of belonging to the neighborhood. Bennett will definitely have my business for as long as I live here. I have to say this place is absolutely fantastic. They have a huge selection of whiskeys and spirits, & a more than adequate selection of wine. Alex really knows how to help and reccomend wine and spirits for any budget. I have been to many places in Manhattan and I used to exclusively shop at the huge Pj's wine warehouse because I thought they had the best prices... I was s wrong, go experience this for yourself. Bennett wine and liquor is where it's at. Last time I checked they had Michters small batch whiskey for $5 less than any other place in Manhattan. I used to live in the building so this was my local place. If there was something they didn't have they would order it for me right away and have it with in a day or two. My friend lives in the area and on my way to her apartment I came across this wine shop, with a wide selection. I decided to go in and get a bottle and I must say what a GREAT decision, this is my new go to wine shop when in the area. Friendly and professional staff, the manager in particular is very knowledgeable and was very helpful in getting me exactly what I was looking for and for a great LOW price. I also lucked out because they were having a tasting. Went in for 1 bottle ended up purchasing 4 delicious and distinct wines, 3 of which I had never tasted before. Convenient for when I lived in the heights, new, and full of options unlike their competition. I also liked that they hosted tastings every weeks for both wines and liquors, this helped me try new things (and some old that I never got around to trying) that I'd never even bother with otherwise.
