Bennett's Masonic Hall or also known as the "Metropolitan Bath" was designed and built by an leading Sacramento architect by the name "Albert A. Bennett in 1854. Mr. Bennett was instrumental in designing many public buildings through-out California and also helped in the construction of the State Capital.
The three story brick building was admired by many for it's architectural beauty. The first floor housed the "Metropolitan Baths/Barber Shops/other businesses. Offices occupied the entire second floor. The third floor was primarily used by the "Mason's" for their meetings.
During the "California Gold Rush of 1849", thousands of settlers descended upon Sacramento California in search of riches ! Many of these men were "Mason's", bringing along with them their Masonic values & traditions. A large number of Masonic Halls were first established in mining towns throughout California.
