I went to a concert here last night and had a great time. The venue is intimate, pretty, and has a cool balcony if you want to sit down and enjoy the concert rather than stand on the floor in front of the stage. There are restrooms scattered around the building, which is nice so that there isn't a herd of people going to 1 restroom. The staff was great and the floor is a beautiful hardwood, everything is clean and you have a great view of the stage no matter where you are! I had never been here before but I'd come back. Obviously if you're planning any big event, one of the first things to consider is your venue. And while there are many options in the Sacramento area, many of which I considered as well, I will always recommend The Sacramento Masonic temple. The venue itself is gorgeous. A big stone staircase greets you and serves as a beautiful backdrop for pictures. The huge ballroom is lined with balconies and is spacious and has an amazing high ceiling. We held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Masonic Labor Day 2019. It was wonderful! I can't say enough nice things about Francisco and the rest of the staff at the Masonic Temple! We planned everything from NYC where we live. They answered all of our questions super promptly via email and were so great to work with, planning wise. They were flexible about when we could drop stuff off and assisted us with carts for loading, unloading etc. They even had someone come in on a holiday (Labor Day) to open the place and let us clean up, because it would have been difficult for us to do it on the day we had previously arranged. A+ for service! We held our ceremony in the smaller of the two big rooms and the reception in the larger. We had a massive curtain made that was pinned up between the two rooms, to divide the space. This worked ok, though we could have executed it a little better. (Did I mention we planned the wedding from NYC and had friends and family set everything up? LOL). This historic building is in a great location in the heart of downtown Sacramento. It has great big ballroom on the 3rd floor, where I am the most familiar with... I've been there many times over the years for Christmas parties and union meetings. I believe they have a full kitchen available, but all the events I have attended the food was always catered. It would be a great place for a wedding reception or retirement party or family reunion example. For some people, walking up the stairs might be an issue, but they do have an elevator available for those who would need to use. read more

Goooooor. geousssss. Just spent the entire weekend here for the California Spirit Festival. So happy I can finally put a face (or image) to the old, rustic "Masonic Temple" sign sticking out of what looks like a hole in the wall, every time I drive down J Street. The owners and employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. Ask them questions, they love to talk! When you walk in you don't really know what to think because all you see is a stair case.. but once you see the temple rooms, you'll fall in love! AND when you see the grand ballroom, you'll drop dead because it's overwhelmingly beautiful. The details in this 95 year old temple are ridiculous. Love the light fixtures & the different themes for each temple. Anyway, if you ever get the chance to check this place out, do it. Or if you ever get invited to a wedding that's happening here, you better go. read more

The building has so much character and the property manager, Phil, made sure everything went smoothly as far as the venue went. He was always so kind and helpful to us throughout the whole process. I too recently held my wedding reception at Masonic Temple and give it an A+ for price, quality, and service. Although it is more work to plan a wedding where you bring in your own caterer I found that it was way cheaper and I was able to provide my guests with a lot more entertainment options (ie: photo booth, caricaturists, live music, etc) and a full OPEN BAR! I really liked the fact that the staff is matter of fact about the price and what they can and can't do. I feel like a lot of other venues try to capitalize on the whole "fairytale" wedding thing and here they just give you straight answers. Phil and Allen were super helpful and allowed me to make multiple visits to the site to show my vendors how I wanted things set up, to measure space, take pictures, etc. I really shopped around and this place was a great deal. It also has that vintage feel and the ceilings are stunning so you don't have to spend a fortune on lighting, although I did use lighting to brighten up the space. Although it's a huge venue I used up all space with guests tables, caterer tables, guest book tables, and other misellaneous items. If you search online you can find a lot of pictures of how other parties have set up the room for maximum use. I recommend Vallejo's for Mexican food (very affordable); Zebra Bar Service (we provided our own alcohol and paid them a flat fee for service, drinkware, and ice); and the Elk Grove Wedding Center for linens ( I paid half for table linens and chair covers/sashes compared to what most places quoted me). The bottom line is that this is way cheaper than a hotel and you can personalize things to your vision and taste. For my entire wedding (everything top to bottom) I paid the same amount I would have paid at a hotel for just food and alcohol. I definitely recommend this route if you are an organized and detailed kind of person. If you plan everything last second this option is likely to cause you a great deal of stress so it might be a better option to go for an all inclusive venue. read more

The Sacramento Masonic Temple is a fabulous venue for events. I've used their large ballroom for three annual charity fundraising dinners. Ken, the person in charge of venue reservations, is great to work with. They have quite a few rooms and they are all beautiful. The ballroom has bathrooms and a kitchen (caterers loves this) alongside, making it easy for guests. Rental prices are reasonable (especially compared to Library Galleria, Grand Ballroom and other Downtown venues) and you can use any caterer you want. read more

In just a few square blocks of downtown you'll find some fantastic event spaces - The Citizen, the Elk's Tower, the Sheraton Grand. Add to that list the Sacramento Masonic Temple, a beautiful ballroom/general use space that is lesser known to the general public than its competitors. I came here for the first time for a Fairytale Town fundraiser. The event space in particular is a grand open room with a lot of original decor from way back when. It's perfect for a large gathering like the one I attended, although the style and layout of the room would only lend itself to particular kinds of large scale events with a max of probably 300 people. The building has other rooms and levels I didn't get to see. While I love the space, I was a little disappointed by the fees they charge to rent it and their unwillingness to consider marketing trade options. Otherwise, it seems like a spot you must consider if you're in the market to throw a party. read more

Phil was very attentive to all our wants and needs, he made us feel special throughout the planning process! The staff was amazing in helping us with suggestions and options throughout the venue. This venue is a brides dream, the lighting, the details, the freedom to choose your vendors, what else could one want? If the calendar allows, the staff can accommodate you in many ways to make sure that all your setup needs and extra details are set for the wedding. Our wedding was on 8/6/2016 and we can not be happier with this venue! Everyone was amazing and really made our day very special. John actually stayed til 11pm the night before our wedding just so we can set up all our tables and bar. He was working just as hard as the rest of our family to set things up. I couldn't believe how amazing he was. The night was beautiful and we had everything we needed to make sure everything went as planned. The staff even opened up separate rooms for us to be able to take photos in. My family has had 3 weddings at this location and we will definitely recommend this venue for all future weddings! Great venue to book! Not only is it a beautiful space but it can be easily enhanced and pull off many themes. As an event designer, decorator, & florist, I can definitely say that this venue is very accommodating to their clients needs. If you need the venue early in the morning to set-up then they try to be as flexible as they can to make sure your vendors have enough time to setup. They also have a large elevator for all vendors to easily load their stuff! Thank you friendly staff at Masonic Temple! Francisco took great care of us! We had a large, traditional Mexican wedding reception that went from 3pm-11pm. The hall was affordable and very flexible with outside vendors. The staff was friendly, supportive, and even a little flexible with some rules (especially Francisco who even stopped by to check on us at the reception when it was his son's birthday and day off!) As an event planner (both corporate and private), it is extremely important to find an excellent venue that both works and works with you. The Masonic Temple on J Street between 11th and 12th is absolutely that. I planned a wedding at this location last Friday and it went off without a hitch - people are still talking about how it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. The building is gorgeous and easy to get to with a parking lot directly adjacent on the side (which is pretty cheap for all day usage). The size is plenty for most any event, but it's the architecture and design elements that truly set this location apart from others who might otherwise be comparable. It transports you to another world, a more elegant and regal time where the quality was in the details and beautiful details they are. Now onto the staff. We started dealing with Phil who was always available and informative, allowing the booking process to be stress free, clearly identifying the "dos" and "don'ts" of the venue itself. When the big day actually got here, Alan (Al) was the best. He went out of his way to help carry stuff in and move things around (which is not required of their job), and even went as far as to hang up some lights for me on the banister the day before - such a nice surprise with my crazy schedule and time frame! They were extremely pleasant, funny, and super helpful the whole time and if nothing else (although there was a lot else) they made it all worth it. From the set up to the support during the event to the last bit of clean-up, I appreciate this venue and it's employees and will definitely be back and will tell my friends/clients. This was such a gorgeous place to have our wedding. We had our ceremony in one of the lodge rooms and then had our reception upstairs in the ballroom. There were plenty of places to take wonderful pictures. It is a beautiful old building with a ballroom that can fit about 450 or so people. We had 200 people and were able to come the day before and set everything up. I choose this vender because it allowed me to bring in an outside caterer and accommodate the amount of guests we had. It was also beautiful and affordable compared to other places in Sacramento. read more

If you like buildings from a different era THEN, you will love this building. It has parking right next door too, on a limited basis, but I am sure there is more parking close by. It is immaculate. I was attending The California Spirit festival here over the weekend. It is a 2 day Yoga event with a variety of instructors and vendors from around the state. The Grand Ballroom is beautiful. Very large with a huge lighting fixture overhead. There are stained glass windows surrounding this space Lots of light flowing in thru the windows.. the acoustics were right on too. I am not sure how many different rooms they have but most of them seemed to be full with classes going on. Various stages in the different rooms, which are all a good size. They do have at least one kitchen, maybe more. . Bathrooms were clean as well, but for this event we could have used a couple more. Nothing is perfect though. We took the stairs to get up and down to the different levels. I am not sure either if there in an elevator but my assumption is yes? Maybe.? Its a very versatile building and I can see it being used for many different events. I also did not notice security lurking around correcting people on their behavior.. Very beautiful and it is quiet too, you cannot here noise from the outside. . read more

Absolutely beautiful historic Sacramento landmark. It was amazing doing yoga in the sacred space. I really got a work out going up and down the stairs. Women's bathrooms are limited and not all the ovens worked, but beyond those gripes, this place is an amazing place. The grand room has sun pouring in and feels like heaven on earth. read more

Just had my wedding reception here on 10/19/2013. The moment I walked into this building over a year ago I fell in love. The possibilities are endless. Glamorous, open spaced, and very well maintained. Our guests didn't need anything. The building manager was always quick to reply to any questions and they even allowed us to bring some of our wedding items to store days prior. The building and all the rooms are beautiful. The folks that give there time to the temple are exemplary. I have never rated anything on yelp, but this place deserves my gratitude. They set up tables chairs, brought us ice they had on hand, more chairs, and cleaned up after us. They where kind and caring...I could go on and on. These folks are the best. Last week we had a multi day corporate training event for over 100 people. It was delivered like a large production and included multiple room set ups and changes. It also included outside vendors who provided food & beverages. The venue is beautiful with the only negative being the tight parking. The staff at the Masonic Temple were fantastic. They were great to partner with, working through all of the details of our planning. During the event they delivered 110%! The nature of the event was stressful, but lessened due to the staff. They were wonderful. John and Francisco (aka Fernando) were extensions of our corporate team. I wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

My husband & I booked this venue for our wedding reception (May 10th) and couldn't be happier. My primary contact was Phil Hardiman and he was fantastic! The hall rental is for a 12 hour period (12p.m.-12a.m.) and they allowed us a four hour window to set up the day before. All the staff are friendly, helpful and especially patient as I had a lot of questions as the date grew near. Phil was also very helpful in recommending a variety of vendors that had worked at the Temple before and provided honest feedback on each. The building is a historic landmark and virtually every corner of it presents a great photo op, the stair case is AMAZING! The capacity in the ballroom is 500 so there was plenty of room for the guests, live entertainment, buffet and photo booth we had set up in different areas of the ballroom, which is so beautiful! We got away with keeping decorations to a minimum as the walls and ceiling in the ballroom are very ornate. I really liked the fact that we were allowed to bring in our own vendors for catering and alcohol. We weren't able to take everything with us after the party ended the night of the reception (center pieces, linens, china) and were allowed to store everything in the basement until the following Monday. Phil & Allen even helped clear everything out when we picked it up on Monday! This is an awesome venue for any type of event and we highly recommend it to anyone!
