I had zero idea these pizzas would be as big as they were until walked in and saw two people eating what looked like pepperoni and cheese covered kites. We ordered a cheese pizza and a half pineapple/bacon and pepperoni pizza. The pizza was decent, seemed a tad bland, but nothing a few chili flakes could help. The place has a very definite college vibe - straightforward and simple with 6 types of pizza (+make your own). We opted for two slices of pepperoni and two drinks - the bill was just shy of $20. Calling these "slices" is correct but also a misnomer- they are MASSIVE. The cheese, sauce, crust and pepperoni were on point; while I'm currently stuffed, I'm salivating at the memory or my slice. Low prices, large portions, good quality. You can never have all three and Benny Sorrentino's proves this. Yes, the slices are massive--each slice is easily the size of 2 slices anywhere else. Yes $6 for a slice of this size with pepperoni is a low price. The problem is it's just not very good. The quality is severely lacking. It's almost all crust with huge gobs of plain bread along the edges. These are reheated slices at the time of ordering and they end up being left in the oven too long resulting in a crust that seems faintly burned and too crisp. Cheese, sauce and pepperoni toppings are all sparse--I guess you have to dole the good stuff out stingily when you are trying to turn a profit at these prices. But if the thin traffic in and out of the store was any indicator, cutting corners on ingredients is not helping drive volume. What you end up is something kind of edible but not much more. The best I can say about it is that while it's lousy pizza, at least it's not greasy. Honestly I'd have given it 2 stars but the cooler had a wide variety of unusual soft drinks, many in diet versions. Someone here appreciates regional and specialty sodas in glass bottles. That shows good taste. If they applied that good taste to the pizza, they would have a place where I'd be a regular. Instead I don't think I'll be back. read more

I went to VA Tech where we have a Benny's and there is a new location in Manassas, VA where I live. The Harrisonburg location is not great. I ordered a full pizza to go for my family and friends on a recent weekend trip to Massanutten. Ordered on the phone, quick and easy, and the service was great. The people working there were very kind. Unfortunately, the pizza was just sooo bad. I think the novelty of a gigantic pizza is fun but in practice, it's hard to make it delish. The pizza was so thin and hard it was like eating cardboard. There wasn't really any sauce on the pizza and there were so many crust bubbles. Maybe it would have been different if we got individual slices but I won't be back to this location. read more

This is our family's go to pizza place. Unfortunately, I can't eat pizza. It doesn't agree with me so I end up eating soup at home. The kids and husband order a whole giant pizza and it feeds 3 teenage boys and a teenage girl plus my husband. There is usually left overs too. It's the kids' favorite place. Went here with my family since we where in town at Massanutten for a short family trip. My cousin who went to JMU told us about how huge the pizza slices where here and we couldn't head home w/o trying a slice first. We went with the traditional pepperoni slice and it did not disappoint. You order your food & drinks at the counter and then pick the slices up when they're ready. The service was quick as well as the pizza slices. You can also order alcohol beverages here as well so my husband and I tried out some VA made IPAs and I grabbed an Alani nu energy drink b/c I'm a mom lol The pizza was delicious and the vibes of the places where super neat with all the different rocky wall décor and the different pics of people eating the huge pizza slices on the wall as well as the American flag hug on n the ceiling next to the massive pizza sign. Went to massanutten for a quick outdoor summer getaway and decided to check out some of the bars in Harrisonburg. We left pretty late to head back to the resort but found this gem searching yelp, and it was right around the corner from the bar with late night hours. This place can't even handle a steady line of orders let alone any speciality pizza that you order. So don't even bother going during a time when there's even a slight chance of them being busy. Also, if you ask where your pizza is that you ordered OVER an hour ago the staff gives you nothing but attitude, which is interesting since they are the ones who messed up the orders (yeah, they said they forgot about us). We walked in and ordered at 5:50. The cashier said it'll be 20 minutes. We didn't get our two slices of pizza until 7:15. Would've walked out if we had known it would take that long. Also, every single customer in there was drunk and clearly acting like it. Oh, and to top it all off. The pizza was disgusting. Definitely avoid. Definitely 5 stars. If you love New York style pizza this is the way to go. A lot of people have commented on how large the slices are. I found their descriptions to be spot on. This will be the largest and best tasting NY style pizza. I'm including a photo in an effort to demonstrate the size of the slices. I can typically eat 3 slices of pizza without any trouble. Really good pizza! I'm not sure why people say it's expensive for one slice because it's one HUGE slice. They have monthly specials and this month they have the Mac n cheese and buffalo chicken. I got the buffalo chicken and it was so delicious. The buffalo sauce was fantastic. My friend got the Mac n cheese and she really enjoyed it. You can tell a business is well run when employees push the blame of their own ineptitude onto other departments that most likely don't exist, like a social media department for a hole in the wall pizza shop. My first and only time going to Benny's was piss poor to say the least, as they don't know how to manage their social media presence and therefore place the burden onto the shoulder of their customers. JMU won the national championship and so Benny's posted on social media, gaining local news coverage, that they would be selling their oversized slices of cheese pizza for 50% off, from 1/9-1/14 if wearing JMU gear (as per their social media posts). I went in to Benny's at 10:30pm on 1/14. I even called in advance to see if they were still doing the special to which I was told it went until midnight that night, so I was good, right? Wrong. I get there wearing a JMU hoodie and order a slice of cheese, which should have been $2 with discount. I'm told it's $4 and ask if they're still doing the special, to which I'm told it actually ended the day before and it was a mixup with the social media team. So because they don't know how to work social media and lied to the entire town I have to pay more money for their mediocre pizza? Makes sense...Now in my experience in the restaurant industry, the customer comes first, and when a company makes a mistake, they pay for it, not the customer. But at Benny's, however, the customer takes the burden so they can save a couple bucks due to their mistakes. Definitely not going back. read more

The pizza is sooooo good and so cheap. Some of the specials are super big hits and some of them (like broccoli cheddar) are total misses. It sucks that theres no veggie stable special because they pretty much always have pepperoni. I also don't like that their method of to-go slices is sticking their arms up a paper bag and flattening it out when the gloves only go up to their wrists. I don't need arm hair on my pizza.
