10/10 best BBQ in the 559!!! Hands down a new favorite spot locked in. My dad and daughter keep coming here talking about how good it is so now we all got to try it. Flavor 10/10 customer service 10/10 food 10/10. All around great place to either order in or take it to go. Most of us got combo plates I ordered Mac and cheese and macaroni salad both were delicious!! My favorite was the macaroni salad, lots of seasoning not over powered by salt. I love brisket so of course that's what I ordered, it didn't need bbq sauce but I did want to try them so I tried the spicy one and none spice, both were great. The portions are definitely worth the price tag, we did bring done of the sides home since everyone wad stuffed. They have plenty of seating inside for small groups, they don't have a soda fountain. You can get water, soda, jarritos, brisk, in cans or little liters. The owner is super nice and asked all the customers how the food was and if anyone needed anything. We have driven past here a few times but somehow haven't ate here until today, I really wish we had stopped in sooner. This is very clearly a family run operation, and everyone is extremely nice. We got the brisket combo with mac & cheese and coleslaw, we also got a small order of the tri-tip. The brisket was cooked well, it was tender and had good flavor, the tri-tip was good as well, though I personally am a brisket person! The mac & cheese was very good, maybe one of the best BBQ restaurant mac & cheeses we've had in the area. The coleslaw was also good, but at the end of the day its coleslaw, nothing to get too excited about. One of the really high notes was their out of this world mustard based BBQ sauce. While their regular BBQ sauce was very good, I am a sucker for a good mustard based BBQ sauce, and this stuff was the ticket for me. I love it so much that I bought a bottle to take home. 5 stars for customer service! Everyone was so nice and one of the owners came out and chatted with us! We were going to take the food to go because we had our dogs in the car but the owner mentioned they are dog friendly ! We had no idea ! He even brought them treats and a dog bowl they were so so nice and a plus they had the World Cup game playing on the TVs there so we didn't miss the game The food was good, I ordered the rib plate with mac and cheese and chili beans. The ribs were tender and the chili was flavorful. The barbecue sauces were all good! There was original, spicy (my fave), Carolina gold, hog sauce and the Alabama white sauce. Solid BBQ joint. I discovered it after antique shopping next door at Palm-Olive. The owner is attentive and friendly and the menu offerings are plentiful. For my first time, I opted for the tri tip combo which came with chili beans and potato salad. My dining partner ordered 1/2 lb brisket with Mac. The chili beans are hearty with chunks of tri tip and good flavor. Not too salty. Potato salad was good and the Mac n cheese was really cheesy and nostalgic, it tasted like a home made dish from your childhood. Definitely not from a box! I also enjoyed the brisket. None of the meats were dry or tough or laden with fat. They do sell out sometimes and close early. so I would call before heading out. Stopped by Ben's Smokin BBQ today for lunch and I'm definitely glad I did. I tried the brisket plate with collard greens, mac & cheese, and pilaf. The brisket was on point and I loved that they gave me a mix of lean and fatty pieces. Mac & cheese: 8.5/10 Collard greens: 8/10 Pilaf: 8/10 Brisket: 9.5/10 The service was exceptional. The food may be delicious, but the service is amazing. It's family owned and operated and they're great supporters of the local scene. You can tell they love their community. Everything is made in house so it's fresh and flavorful. I love their burritos, meat is always so tender and my favorite side is their 3 meat chili beans. There's indoor and outdoor seating. One of my favorite things is how many zero and diet options they have on canned drinks, being a T1 diabetic sometimes I get tired of having diet cola or water as my only drink options so this has always been a plus for me. Okok I finally have a great local bbq place in my neighborhood! Bensmokin is a welcome addition to Tower. Amazing staff, very helpful for first time diners. We had combos, tri tip, ribs, onion rings, mac n cheese, beans and cole slaw. Nothing but praise for all! My picky brother is a BIG bbq fan and a BIG man and he was so impressed and the servings were big enough that he was able to take some home for later! Visited Bensmokin on a Saturday. I was excited because I saw a TikTok review and I pass by here often. Their customer service was great, very nice family who runs the place. I believe the owner helped us, he was very kind. Unfortunately the foods flavor fell short. The Mac n cheese was bland and didn't taste seasoned. The beans tasted like they had flour in them, very tomato tasting and no salt. Not pictured was the candyman chicken which had a good smoked flavor. The cornbread wasn't great either. I do love supporting small businesses but the flavor was missing here. Their Carolina gold barbecue sauce and the original were good. After passing by this place for some time and promising myself that I would stop in "someday", that day finally came. One of my friends had just come back from lunch, and because I was out of the office, I didn't get invited. I asked where they all went, and he told me "that bbq place over on Palm and Olive". I knew exactly where they went. After hearing his rave review of the place, and what he had ordered, I beelined it over there for a late lunch to take home and eat with my wife. You have to try the "Luciano". It's a sandwich with brisket, tri-tip, bacon and onion rings. It was outstanding, but I think it could have used just a touch more "smoke" flavor. The mac and cheese looked like it came straight from the frozen aisle, and the fries? Old, burnt, and soggy, like they got evicted from someone else's plate. Portions? Tiny. Prices? High. Value? Nonexistent. Those 4 and 5-star reviews must be from family members or people who've never eaten real BBQ. First time here and definitely the last. Well first off the customer service is great. Bring your on beer is great as well as for the food. Well let me say it was ok. My tri tip and brisket was cold. The cheddar sausage was great. The Mac n cheese was grainy the beans were good. The Ribs St. Louis were ok very tender but lack seasoning in my opinion. As well with the other meats. I live close by, I've seen this new place and thought I would wait till it got established to try it out..the coleslaw was good, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection, needed marinade flavor, the brisket was flavorless and sooo over cooked (mush). Mac & cheese so dried out, flavorless. The beans, flavor was ok, but the bean has to come from a low grade pinto can bean. The corn bread wold have better if it was JIFFY. From nextdoor we could smell the BBQ and it smelled great. It's definitely a rugged place, but that comes with this type of food. The place was empty and that should have been my first clue about the experience. When we got up to the counter to order, I asked how much brisket came with the combo. The woman (short, brunette, 20ish) said 1/3 lb. I asked what that would look like visually...like the size of my fist? With attitude, she said "Smaller than a 1/2, larger than 1/4." I know math! I said VISUALLY!! I looked at my husband and about walked out (he later told me he was too). I said, "But, is that the size of my fist or a what is it visually." She said, "Our portions are created for someone to be full." First, that's not true; second, that's subjective. I should have walked out. The food wasn't worth the effort. We got our food quickly (by that time we were the only ones in there). The links (cheddar jalapeno & hot links) were VERY good. Juicy and full of flavor. The chili bean side was bland. How is that even possible. The coleslaw....now, I know everyone's coleslaw is different and I've eaten all over Texas. This was cabbage with a lot of mayonnaise. Absolutely terrible. The brisket was not smoked, pale and flavorless. My husband ordered a side of potato salad, but they were out. The woman said she would make more, give her 5 minutes. Well, if it were to take more, we would have gotten another side. 20 minutes later I got up to ask about it!!! We were done eating. We were going to just take it to leave, but my husband ate it. It was THE BEST potato salad I've ever had. Almost like a deviled egg with all the fix'ns. I'll give them that! It was expensive too, but what isn't. We knew Ben's was good because we've eaten his food at pop ups he's done. Now he has his own storefront and we finally made it over. Yes, it's good stuff! I got the Cloudship burrito with brisket, chili beans, Spanish rice and cheese - yummy. The smoke from the brisket was prominent. We also ordered the huge jalapeño poppers - a full jalapeño split and FILLED with cream cheese, cheese, meat and wrapped, enrobed, in bacon. They were delicious but too spicy for me :( We also got a sampler of meats - links, brisket, ribs and tri tip. All of it was good. We also got two sides: chili beans and Mac n cheese. The meat had sauce but wasn't drenched which I really appreciate. They do give you a container of sauce if you want to add more. The food and owners are amazing! We went for my birthday. Even though the dining room is small, they were able to accommodate 9 of us, and there were still tables available for other parties. I wish you could review in compilation. The first time I came here, I was so impressed. The owner read us tended to us and provided stellar customer service from A-to-Z. The food was tasty the prices or just and I was looking forward to coming back. I wish I could say the same today when I came back. The owner was there and did greet us but shortly disappeared. The cashier that took his place was neither friendly, helpful, informative, or customer service oriented at all in anyway. I would've gotten more information and friendlier and more personable service from a robot that I did with her. Thankfully, the food was OK. The meat seem a little tougher and not quite as flavorful, but we didn't appear to have the same cook. Either the cook that we had last time was friendly, greedy, personable, and referred to us as friends which made us feel like friends today's cook was very stoic All in all the food is good. The service is really what set it apart before and made me want to come back however, if I had service like today in service, I wouldn't have been back at all. . Well there is a variety of BBCUE meats Which is nice . However all the meats seemed a bit bland . The Brisket which I was really wanting was dry . I was very disappointed.
