I dropped my shoes off a couple of weeks ago to be polished and now have no way of getting them back. The shop is closed even though the hours of operation--according to its sign on the door--are Tuesday through Friday. I called the business line and there is no way to leave a message. if it ever opens again, I would avoid this place. read more

They "aren't taking any new customers" so don't bother calling or going over there. Also, "cash only" means old and out of touch.

I would NOT recommend this shop to anyone. I waited 5-6 months to get my shoes back. He was upset because I did not have my ticket after that amount of time. I had my soles reglued on two pair of shoes $30 plus for the two. I had tried calling and even stopped by several times, no answer and door locked everytime. I had frankly written my shoes off as lost, and was surprised to finally get the call that they were ready. First of all I want to thank you for taking time out of your busy day to write a review. I do wish you would have given complete and accurate information. The sign does not say the shop is not taking in any new customers! It does say--- Due to the extreme back log, the shop is temporarily not taking in new repairs. From January to December 2021 every shoe repair shop in a 60 mile radius closed down, except two! There are 487,000 people just in Omaha. That does not include Elkhorn, Ralston, Lavista, etc. This is a Mom and Pop neighborhood business that takes pride in every repair that goes out the front door. This is not like Walmart, when someone gets sick they just call someone to fill their shift. There are customers (old and new) that have been waiting for their repairs. I thank them for their patience and understanding. This shops' reputation is quality, not quantity and is determined to maintain that motto! If you would like to come in and help with the backlog, you are more than welcome to pitch in. Thank you for your time. P.S. The reasoning behind CASH ONLY is that the shop has a lot of elderly and less fortunate customers. To add credit and debit will increase overhead which would add to the cost of repairs. read more

There aren't a lot of quality shoe repair shops around, so there can be a wait to get your shoes back - it's worth it over buying a new pair though. Don't let the odd location and tiny shop fool you, Benson Shoe Repair is the place to go when you need your favorite pair of fancy kicks fixed. The service is prompt, friendly and even a little silly. I've had various shoes fixed here over the years and have always had great results. Same goes for my wife -- her latest trip here had the soles and heels of several shoes and boots repaired and looking like new. Prices vary depending on what needs to be fixed, but by and large most repairs are $10 and under. Hard to beat that! Cash only and 20% or so down is required during drop off. Did a great job sewing a new heavy duty zipper into my leather(ish) bomber jacket that came with a cheapo zipper. Cost $53. It took a bit over a week since he had to order the zipper, but he told me that before he took the job- so that was OK. Workmanship was superb! It looked completely original! As others have mentioned- cash only, 50% deposit. Small place, a little awkward location where Maple and the Radial merge. Excellent experience with Benson Shoe Repair! I had a pair of suede shoes that I thought would be out of commission for good with significant amounts of dirt and grime across the board. The owner here took a look at them for a minute, tried a bit of spray and recognized the issue. He told me that he would've charged me $25 for the repair. Instead of repairing them himself, he let me know that it was actually an easy fix with materials that I could buy from the Dollar Tree around the corner! First time having my ankle boots repaired by a cobbler and my experience with this one was superb. When you walk in and meet the guy, one might find the owner a little intimidating but let him talk and advice you on the shoe and you'll be fine. i think he's done a beautiful job on my Hudson brown ankle boots. They were torn on the out sole and some rips here and there but he fixed them to my taste and the result? A brand new rustic looking boots. A satisfied customer. Highly recommended. read more

I took my boots to Mike after a failed repair elsewhere, and he did an outstanding job. They look brand new. The leather around the heel was torn from wear and tear, and I'm not sure what he did but you can hardly see it now. He did the work really quick and the price was very reasonable. He doesn't take credit cards which caught me off guard because I never carry cash/checks, and he said "no problem just drop off the cash sometime". and I did 2 days later! I love Max too (his dog). This shop is awesome! I'm was so impressed with the service and the price I was charged for such great service. I took in one of my expensive handbags to get the strap fixed. I hesitated so long because I honestly didn't think this cobbler could fix it. I waited until a few days until I was to go out of town. I really wanted to carry this bag which is my favorite! Needless to say I regret that I procrastinated for so long because he fixed it while I waited. I took him only 5 minutes! highly overrated. i took a pair of side zip motorcycle boots in for zipper repair. shoddy construction at best. before i left a "shine" was offered. the boots were removed to the back room, upon which i heard the rattle of a spray can. boots reemerged with black over spray on the red racing stripe. it may appear a quaint, old school neighborhood joint but i'll taken skill and craftsmanship over quaint any day. only the presence of a lovable house dog takes the one star rating to a two star. read more

Being a recent transplant from Venice Beach, I needed some boots repaired and found this place. Everything I own has sentimental value to me. I had an old pair of Frye Harness boots that I wore to Woodstock...the real one, not the yuppie version decades later. Needless to say, these boots have history. I also gave him a pair of Harley motorcycle boots. Both pairs needed heels and were in desperate need of conditioning. I was told they'd be ready in 2 days. Before end of business that day, they were done. Both pairs were like new. I could not have been more pleased. I think in this day & age of people trying to do as little as possible, and trying to get as much as they can for it, finding this place was a score. Mike's attention to detail, trade craft, and passion for his work are nothing less than remarkable in this day and age. The work was perfect, and the price was, in my opinion, ridiculously low. I'd have felt guilty not paying more. The ONLY problem I could find was MAX, the 5 year old Akita. If you love dogs, allocate an extra few minutes. He's worth it too.
