    The Fern Room

This was our third time here. There is just something special about this place. It's almost a fairy tale setting in the forest on a hill, trees all around. Just this quaint lodge not too far from town. That's just the outside of it. The inside is just as spectacular. It's homie, comfortable, warm, and really an escape from stress at home. This time we stayed in the fern room which is on the lower level and was full of all those good touches. From wireless device charging to a Jacuzzi bathtub, it was much better than home. I believe every room has its own door to the outside patio and ours was just outside of some swinging benches and rocking chairs. The main floor has a wonderful living room setting with plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas with plenty of books to read and plenty of games to play. There are plenty of snacks to choose from and soda is free during your stay. Wine and beer costs and is on the honor system and freely available. There are plenty of information brochures about local touristy hot spots. The best part about this place is the service. Randy the owner has really gone all out to make sure that everyone is impressed and wants to come back! The breakfast service has always been so great. The food has been pretty much gourmet and you are so getting what you paid for in the room with all of this stuff included. Maybe the best part is just the attitude here. It's always with a smile and always concluded with them asking if there's anything else they can do to help out. It's genuine and it's real. These days, customer service is different and a lot of us miss what it used to be. My family took a trip to a foreign country last year and we were caught a bit off guard by how friendly the customer service was. Bent Creek Lodge reminded me of that and it's a reason why this place deserves every praise and accolade it can get. Thank you to Randy, Alma, and Ashley for making our stay wonderful. Did I forget to mention that we had our wedding here on this trip? Yes, they perform weddings and it was just a small eloping ceremony with our parents as witnesses. But it was special and romantic and something I will never forget. To finish out, my mother-in-law originally didn't want to stay here because it was a bit expensive for her. I covered her because we had a wedding fund and frankly I just wanted her to stay here and experience what we have experienced over the years. Afterwards she reimbursed me saying that it was such a great experience and completely worth all of the money we paid. That just goes to show you that this place is damn special! Looking forward to going back soon.

The Bent Creek Lodge is a perfect destination for romantic getaways!

My husband and I have really enjoyed our stays at the Bent Creek Lodge! It is our destination of choice when treating ourselves to a staycation, as we live, only 5 miles away. Randy and his team take excellent care of our needs and the service is exceptional. The food is also delightful! We really enjoyed this past weekend's bourbon six-course dinner pairing event.

4.5/5 stars. We had a wonderful time at Bent Creek Lodge in October 2022. Service was fantastic, and the accommodations exceeded my expectations. We chose Bent Creek Lodge because its price was reasonable for a peak leaf change weekend. The lodge was half the price of the hotels we usually stay at (which were $700-800/night due to the season). Randy and his staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts were excellent! Views on the property were beautiful, and it was centrally located. We didn't stay around the lodge much, but there would have been plenty to relax and do while there. Their internet was strong enough to stream a football game to our laptop one evening, as they do not have tvs. My main concern with the lodge was its lack of soundproofing. Our neighbor guests were quiet, but every quiet sound was heard loudly in our room. I slept with earplugs and a white noise app from my phone, but loud snoring could still be heard through that at night. All words of conversations could clearly be heard during the day. I noticed that showering during peak time in the morning had its issues; our water fluctuated between hot and cold during one shower. This did not occur in the evenings. I dislike microfiber sheets due to their heat retention and lack of breathability, but I know this is a personal preference. I would stay at Bent Creek Lodge again.

What a great find! This lodge is nestled about a mile down a narrow road in a wooded area that feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, yet is only 20 minutes from downtown Asheville. The owner, Randy, who bought the inn in late 2019, is a charm. He will bend over backward to make sure all guests are happy with their stay. The inn is absolutely impeccable in every way. I tried to find something that wasn't perfect during our 3 night stay, and failed. It is super clean, and the bedding makes you not want to get up in the morning. Our room had a good size balcony facing the woods and landscapes garden. All the staff wore masks and were very conscientious of the pandemic, and they required guests to wear masks as well when not in their room or dining. The included breakfasts were different each day and were huge and delicious (see photos). The property has acres of hiking trails, and a winding, well landscaped path that leads down to a fire pit complete with chopped wood and bug spray for guests to use. There's a grill that can be used although we didn't get around to it. The lodge doesn't have a restaurant per se (other than breakfast) but there are a couple restaurants 5 minutes down the road if you don't want to drive into Asheville. We got carry out one day and brought it back to the hotel. There is a long terrace on all 3 levels of the lodge with Adirondack chairs and swings, which we sat out on every afternoon and had cocktails. There is a river across the street where you can fish or go tubing, and a pool table in the main room, but we just wanted to hang at the lodge given how nice it was.

Stayed at Bent Creek Lodge for a weekend get away with my husband and we are so glad we stumbled across this gem in our search for lodging. It was super clean, beautifully decorated for Christmas, had friendly staff, and delicious breakfasts that set you up for a day of adventure/fun! I would highly recommend this place and we plan to come back and stay again!

Our second stay at the Bent Creek Lodge. First time was in September of 2017. Beautiful fall colors at the time. New ownership now and the quality has only improved. Same welcoming atmosphere, great breakfast of course, clean comfortable room, we stayed in the same room as 2017. It seems to me that the staff is friendlier and eager to help this visit. The grounds are quiet and restful. There's easy access to area activities by car. It's close but the location makes it seem remote.

Absolutely gorgeous property in a serene wooded area and just steps from the Blue Ridge! There are hiking trails everywhere and Randy is an amazingly knowledgeable and gracious host. We stayed in the Luhn House, which is next door to the main lodge and also managed by the team. It was a great way for us to bring our young son and stay with another couple while enjoying the woods, a full kitchen, amazing fireplace, and hot tub on the deck! The property is also very convenient to downtown, plenty of local restaurants, and breweries. We will definitely return!

So many fun finds along the pathway

We spent the day traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and wanted to find something a bit different for the evening to celebrate the hubby's birthday. The Bent Creek Lodge was the perfect answer. We were greeted warmly upon arrival and offered a beverage and snacks, including melt-in-your-mouth homemade cookies. We put our things down and took two steps out the back door and the adventure began. The trees were changing colors with the approach of winter. We sat in side by side rocking chairs and simply absorbed the beauty hidden from the rest of the world. A garden filled with artistic pieces, a gateway made of wood and a trail leading to a fire pit was just the beginning. The house is filled with comforting touches to feed the weary traveling soul. With three levels it felt spacious but cozy. There were TV's, magazines and comfy couches available in common areas, along with coolers filled with various soda, wine and beer. There was plenty of seating on the main level near the kitchen area and outside on the decks for sharing a meal without being confined to our room. We stayed in the Fern Room which included a wonderful tub for two and direct access to the back porch. The bed and bedding is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and we both slept like babes. You even have the option of purchasing a set of sheets while at the lodge. The room is bright and beautiful during the day but dark and peaceful in the evening. There is even a porch light outside the room for those late night moments in the rocking chairs or swings as you contemplate your existence or just decide what tomorrows agenda may hold. The breakfast was not exceptional but very good. If you are a fan of yogurt and granola you don't want to miss this first course. The coffee was phenomenal served in mugs you can also purchase during your visit. While it was already getting a bit chilly out, we still chose to sit outside overlooking the garden area to eat. Two young ladies took exceptionally good care of us and were attentive to all the needs of the guests. The Santa Fe eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was thick and crispy, the potatoes cooked nicely and the biscuit was light and flaky. Did I mention how good the coffee was? We did venture down the trail to the fire pit area and discovered yet another personal touch. A box near the fire pit contained lighters to start the fire, flashlights to guide you back up to the property and bug spray. It's clear they have their guest's comfort in mind at Bent Creek Lodge. My only complaint is we couldn't stay longer. It felt like leaving home when we pulled away. I recommend taking at least a couple days and go spend some time away from the hustle and bustle. Once you walk through these doors, it feels as if you have transported to another time.

From the moment we walked in and met Son, James, we knew we had made the right choice. With so many options in the immediate area, this should be your first, last and only choice. James was sweet and professional upon check in. We were the only guests at the time staying in house so he made our social hour items for us to enjoy while we unpacked in our room. James is the Chef of the house and curated two outstanding breakfasts for us during our stay. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 20 years and I would hire him in my kitchen in a heartbeat. Our room was clean, gorgeous and spacious. The fireplace was my favorite part. Each staff member we came into contact with was friendly and happy. They all loved their jobs and treated us with such a high level of hospitality. I hated saying goodbye after two nights. We can't wait to book again... and again.... and again... I will admit I was concerned about the bathroom being located outside the room. It turned out just fine, the bathroom is not shared with other guests and had a lock. We were also supplied with robes and slippers to wear to walk from the bath to the bedroom. The second room we had was on the second floor by the 3rd entry. Both rooms were very comfortable, the linens were soft, everything smelled very fresh and clean. Breakfast was amazing every day and included a sweet item and a savory item. The inn keeper worked to address our dietary needs, making gluten free and dairy free options for our family. The inn is conveniently located about 1 mile from downtown and about 10 minutes from the Biltmore, making it a perfect quiet location for a full Ashville experience.

It was such a great experience that I would recommend traveling to Hendersonville just to stay at the Elizabeth Leigh and eat at the restaurants on Main St. It's a very relaxing and classy small town. Main St. is a short 10 minute walk from the inn. When I walked into the inn, I was blown away by the elegant antique decor. The pictures online just don't do it justice. I stayed in the Blue Room. It had a large comfortable bed, two chairs, loveseat, wardrobe, and a few other various decor items. All the colors and patterns went together flawlessly. The bathroom was incredible. It had gold and white accents, but still went really well with the blue theme. There were plenty of fresh high quality thick white towels neatly rolled in a basket. The shower had an adjustable head. Water stayed warm the whole time despite showering at the same time as other guests. Breakfast was southern, filling, elegantly served, and tasted amazing. The first breakfast was eggs, bacon, and thick French toast. The next was a cream cheese, berries, and French toast casserole or 'hot dish' depending on where you're from. There was complimentary bottled water, wine, ice cream, homemade white chocolate macadamia cookies, homemade pound cake (which was wonderful), and beer. Now possibly the most enjoyable part, the rest of the property. The inn has a wraparound porch with big white rocking chairs that overlook the yard and the little street in front of the house. The backyard has a fountain, swing in front of a little waterfall pond, and corner area with seating. There are multiple places to have private conversations with your loved one(s). If you get the opportunity, getting to know the owner Cindy and her husband Mike will be the best part of your stay. The inn is an expression of Cindy and her dream to give guests a relaxing, but high quality environment to experience genuine southern hospitality in the gorgeous mountains of western North Carolina.

Here are a few of my chief complaints: 1) There was no one to check me in when I arrived late after a long flight from California. After standing in the empty front room for a while, I saw a small sign saying to call a number to check in. I called twice before an insolent teen in sweatpants finally showed up to give me my key. 2) The inn adds a daily "tip" for room cleaning on top of an already high bill. (This is one of the more splurgey places to stay in the Black Mountain area.) If that wasn't rude enough, no one ever came by during my three-night stay to clean/tidy the room. The toilet bowl had dirt marks all over it when I showed up and there they stayed for the duration of my visit. No one made the bed. 3) Internet did not work. 4) Breakfast begins late -- at 8.30am -- because the chef has to take his five children to school. Seriously. So if you're staying there for work, as I was, you have to get breakfast elsewhere. That being said, after a lengthy argument with aforementioned insolent teen, the chef prepped me some breakfast items before he left for the night and left them in the fridge. That was very sweet of him.
