The best dry cleaners we've ever used. Prompt, friendly and very reasonably priced. Even though we've moved we still travel back to Bentleigh for our dry cleaning! 5 stars. read more

I recently dropped three suits off here for dry cleaning. When I picked them up, the male owner…read morementioned that two of the suits had ended up with some bubbling on the jackets. He went on and on about how suits are bad quality these days and that, often, poor bonding causes bubbling with dry cleaning. I was not very happy about this, but accepted it could be the quality of the bonding. However, when I returned home and tried them on, one of the suits had shrunk so drastically that I could not even put on the pants or jacket. I am well aware that dry cleaning should never cause shrinkage, unless there is a mistake in the process or malfunction with the heating in the machine. I returned to the store to politely let him know what had happened and ask for an explanation. He immediately became extremely defensive and started shouting at me, saying it was impossible that it was the dry cleaning's fault and I could take him to VCAT (that's not even who you would complain to, it is Victorian Consumer Affairs) but that he would win. I told him to lower his voice and calm down, and eventually, he begrudgingly refunded me the $20 for the shrunken suit. When I then had to urgently purchase a new suit for an event, I asked the suit shop about the incident. They said it was almost certainly the dry cleaner's fault and this is, sadly, very common. The staff said they recommend dry cleaning no more than once a year (the suits had only been dry cleaned once before, about 18 months ago), but shrinking should never happen if the dry cleaning is done correctly. Avoid this place like the plague, even if only for the extremely rude and aggressive owner.

Also some chairs and stools to hang out on with several copies of the Melbourne visitors guide book and some maps to peruse while waiting for my clothes to dry. There were plenty of washers and dryers. The employee also let me know that my cloths would fit into a smaller washer just fine. She also loaned me the key to a nearby bathroom for customers only. I went in the middle of the day and had no issues waiting for machines. Great little place right by Spencer Outlet so I shopped while I waited for the washing machine to be done. I would recommend this laundromat!

Otherwise, possibly the best in the area.
A review on a laundromat? You bet your bottom dollar!…read more This isn't one of these new-aged, fandangled laundromats with chai lattes and toasted sandwiches available. Nope. It's a bloody laundromat and that's it. I end up coming to the Carlton Laundromat at least once a week in the winter when my house is so cold I am unable to dry my clothes. Their dryers run on seven minute cycles but you'll definitely need at least two of those to get everything dry (for some reason they're just not hot enough?) This is an unmanned laundromat so it's best your BYO change (a couple of bucks per spin). Thankfully the North Carlton Canteen is directly next door. They are generally pretty good at giving you change if you need but why not grab a coffee and read a book while you're waiting?

I decided to take my clothes elsewhere but that they might still be ok to clean doonas... nope... they lose them and try to give you someone else's shabby doona, then refuse to offer any solutions or admit fault. I think I know my own doona!!! Have lodged a complaint with consumer affairs. Full story below Dropped a wool doona off at Blackburn drycleaners on 29 April. I was told it wouldnt be ready for at least two weeks Went to pick it up on 29 May, but the doona they tried to give me was not mine. My doona is a queen bed Australian wool quilt from Harris scarfe, has a satin sash across one corner and has quilting over the edges What I received was a poor quality old doona, with no satin sash and an old faded tag with no writing left on it, that's how old it was. The edging on the doona was raw edging. Straight away I said this is not my doona, the man named Jerry kept saying "I have no comment to make, we are very careful not to mix up the labels/receipts". Jerry continued to offer no solution, and continued to say no comment. However at one point he did say "humans make mistakes". I told Jerry "I have a similar doona at home from the same store, I will send you photos, and then you use those photos to please try and find my doona". Jerry didn't like that idea saying "we have so many doonas here, and repeating again and again we just go off the receipt /label we attach to the doona". I persisted that what they were trying to give me was not my doona, and finally Jerry agreed to receive a photo of my similar second doona (spare bed doona) at home. Jerry told me to leave the doona that was not mine there, which was fine as I did not want to take someone else's doona home anyway. I sent the photos of my similar doona to Jerry the same afternoon 2 June Jerry sends me cctv photo of me bringing in my doona, with a message saying "I hope this photo will help you recall something" which again depicts a doona with neat edging, not raw poor quality edging like the doona Jerry tried to give me. I then asked for compensation, which has been ignored. I've then asked for Jerry to send me a photo of the doona they tried to give me, including the raw edging, faded tag, the receipts and labels they stuck to the doona after washing. Unfortunately I am being ignored still So I have paid $50 to get a doona cleaned, and now I have no doona.
