I had heard of Reiki (see first sentence), and a friend "did it on me" when I was grieving a loss about two decades ago. "That's cool. I'm open. After all, it's ancient and Japanese and involves working with one's life force energy - I'm in! Who couldn't use a life force energy tuning!" I've known Heather as a friend for a couple of years, so I was definitely comfortable with her. What I didn't anticipate was the level at which I would feel relaxed and restored. I came out of our session feeling so positive and energized and yet relaxed. She has an amazing way of setting the intention in the room and intuiting exactly what I needed. This July 2015, I visited BPI's location in Santa Rosa as I was in the area, and saw on their…read morewebsite that they had a free evening aura cleaning clinic from 7-7:30pm. The staff were friendly, but not pushy, and I never felt I was going to be pressured or abducted, they just asked me to sign in on a computer and one guy gave me a session that lasted about 7 minutes. (A week later I've received only one email from them). There was no touching or personal space invasion involved, it involved me sitting in a folding chair and him doing work in the air immediately around me. It was a free clinic and they did not give any indication that they wanted me to donate, tip or pay anyone or buy anything. I had only had one experience with BPI before, it was 20 years ago at the Berkeley location, and though I had an experience on a single visit that made me change my skeptical attitude towards them (I went there to support a friend), I moved to the East Coast and had not been there since. I think it's important to say that I am not a New Age fanatic. I grew up in Northern California but have a skeptic's mind, and I adhere to scientific principals when they are established. I do, however, accept that modern western science is incomplete and not well rounded in all fields. My aura cleaning had a transformational effect. The guy, Tony, who did my session was casual, without any mystical pretensions, and this helped me stay relaxed and receptive. On being asked, I told him I wanted to specifically work on anxiety, both generally and related to family issues. As my session progressed, he said some very perceptive things about the condition of my aura, and explained what he was doing to remove others' energies that had manifested onto it. Toward the end, I felt an enormous bubble of pressure rise from my abdomen through my body and pop, like a soap bubble at my head, accompanied by a large, involuntary exhale. I then realized tears were streaming down my face. It's been several days, and my anxiety level is very noticeably lower. I was with two friends who didn't have an immediate visceral experience as I did, so I can't say everyone's will be the same. It probably did help that I was seeking this out during a moment of self-reflection and self-improvement. But I can assure you that these are not conjurers or con-men/women. Whether or not you give credence to what they are doing, they are being methodical, disciplined and are certainly taking their pursuit not only seriously, but with good intentions, as far as I can see.
