Cozy hotel with a nice bar. The menu looked nice but we had dinner plans elsewhere. Limited beer selection, but a few local brews that tickled our fancy. read more

Chateau St. Gerlach located just outside of Valkenburg in the Netherlands is absolutely amazing…read more The grounds are breathtaking beautiful. The have several style rooms within the compound. From 2 story apartments to rooms that make you feel like your in a castle back in the 1400's. The pool at the spa here is very nice and relaxing. They have a running trail that takes you thru a field and Into the woods. Very beautiful and when your deep in the woods on the running trail you will find a bar that looks like Robin Hood and his merry men built. Lol. I could go on and on about this place. Put it on your bucket list cause this place is awesome!!!

The Château, as well as its surroundings are mesmerizing. I honestly think I would live here year round if I could afford it!!! Wonderful bistro, as well as a bar and chique restaurant are just a few steps away from the spacious, romantic, quiet, beautiful rooms. The swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms are definitely my favorite hangout spots besides the bistro. I recommend you book your massages or facials before you arrive, since they are popular "activities" over here. I can spend three nights in a row here without ever leaving the property and be as happy as.... a princess! Pro tip: Breakfast buffet with a view on the palace gardens. Worth every penny!!

Everything is extremely well maintained, and there is a nice bike path that is connected to the property which is awesome if you are a runner like me. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our dinner was amazing, and they had a nice modest selection of beers. We were a large group (14) and the staff handled us awesomely, everything was timed well and the food was fantastic. We ordered off a fixed menu and I loved every item. I would look for any and every opportunity to stay here again.

I was 99% sure so of course I went through all my bags to doublecheck and sure enough I didn't have it. Went right back to the hotel and they had cleaned the room and swore up and down they did not find it. I have not been anywhere else and there is no other explanation. When I called back to speak to the manager and explain what had happened, she was very indignant, as opposed to being helpful or offering to investigate more.. so, I would avoid this place.

It is not the best ever but if traveling and don't need super fancy then it will suit your needs very well. The Spa is surprisingly good but the service is less than to be desired. They have a gym that is for use but there is consistently classes scheduled throughout the day that is not mentioned on the website or in handbook. One must first check with front desk to see what time classes are for the day so you can plan a workout around the random classes, very frustrating to go downstairs for a workout only to find you must wait until class is finished. They have a massage therapist, that doesn't take clients. Not for nothing, what kind of spa has a massage therapist that doesn't take clients? The room service is fine, but when I asked the maids to come back in 5 minutes as I was leaving for workout expecting to come back to a clean room, they conveniently decided to not come back to room and not clean it at all. Would have loved to give this 5 starts but the maids and spa took away a point each.

My wife had trouble although butte had just arrived so her location clock and jet lag might have contributed. I had been here for two nithghts already. The restaurant is nice and the food tastes very fresh. Locals came in to eat as well. On one night, I enjoyed the French onion soup, pasta with truffle sauce and then a coffee. A modern style hotel at the edge of the pedestrian center if Aachen…read more On the four star scale: the hotel service was very good and all staff we interacted with were pleasant and professional. The parking was also good, underground and included in our room rate. Breakfast was excellent with many diverse choices. Those with smaller appetites though may wish to skip the 14 euro charge and just get a coffee on the square. A major disappointment was no air conditioning anywhere. While we understand this is a northern climate, it can and does get quite hot in Germany. Indeed it was 31 C the day we stayed. City areas are noisy with people leaving bars between 12-2 am (we've found this to be true all over Western Europe), and even with ear plugs it can be noisy. Other hotels in Aachen, I e the Novotel , are air conditioned so I think this would also be a good addition. The other weird thing was no ice. The person at the desk gave me a glass and said there are no ice machines anywhere in Germany, something I find difficult to believe. The internet charge is 5 euro, which is not so bad. But, only one device can be logged in at the same time. A second person logging in to the same room kicks off the first, and one has to re-enter all the information about the room and check out date, etc. Quite annoying, and very fixable I think. All in all the aquis grana would be ok for a visit in fall or winter, but in summer I'd recommend getting a hotel with a/c of which there are several to choose from in Aachen.

The location was further enhanced by several eating establishments nearby. The exterior suggested a vintage feel and the interior confirmed it. The lobby was cozy and the front desk service was efficient and polite. I was assigned a room on the fourth level and found it to be clean and surprisingly spacious. The work area was adequate and the bathroom was sufficiently roomy to allow maneuverability. The WiFi was free of charge and worked well during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the environs were adequately quiet to allow me to get good sleep. The view from the room looked over a construction lot; as such, it was nothing special. The breakfast was quite good as it featured the hot and cold choices one would expect. In addition to eggs and meat, there were also good bread options with yogurt, cereals, cold meats, cheese and fruit. The dining room was adequately spacious such that one did not feel cramped. My room rate was 140 euros. I thought this was reasonable and represented a decent value. In general, I was happy with my stay here. If I need a hotel in Liege again, I would certainly consider coming back to this hotel.
