Zero stars DO NOT USE THIS FIRM for your probate needs. My husband committed suicide without a will he was a lawyer with an LLC, 3 small children. The estate started out in the negative the attorney was aware of this. Never gave me an idea on how much probate would cost, would never give me updates. This attorney failed to put charging liens on my husband's active law cases and let another attorney who took over the cases keep money belnging to the estate. I was billed over $60k, probate hasn't been finished, was demanding more money, the attorney lost money for the estate and I'm at risk of losing the family home with my children to creditors as the estate was drained to attorneys fees and I cannot afford another attorney. I'm so thankful to have found & worked with this wonderful firm. I consulted them after losing my home & all my belongings in the Pearl Street fire, then again to assist me in a lease separation. Nothing like moving into a new apt after a fire to realize you've been duped (carbon monoxide leak, hazardous mold, water leaks, wobbly toilet, etc.) All the staff I encountered and worked with were courteous, friendly, professional and responsive. I came to this to prepare a real estate contract. It was a simple transaction and I was a reasonable price. They prepared the contract for me after which I received a bill for almost 5 times the amount quoted. I have reached out to them anbout the bill multiple times and have not received any response. Nothing about the contract was unusual. this seems to be simply inflated billing and bait and switch. I strongly courage anyone looking for an attorney to look elsewhere. read more

I wish words could express how thankful I am for Justin Berg and his work as my attorney on my construction defect case.  If I could give him more stars, I would. I highly, highly recommend Justin Berg. I built a house that had numerous and significant construction defects, and I have had the extreme good fortune to work with Justin for about four years to get my house repaired and hold the builder accountable.  Among other things, Justin is an expert on construction contracts, construction defect cases and insurance coverage, so he was able to help me in all three areas. When the defects in my house started appearing, Justin knew exactly what to do. Justin is incredibly knowledgeable about the law in general and business litigation, insurance coverage, construction defect and construction contract cases specifically, so he guides us down the path that is the most legally effective and financially responsible.  He is strategic, patient, honest and ethical. He is very smart, and he is great at explaining complex legal issues.  He always has his clients' best interests in mind.  I know attorneys are expensive, and Justin is worth every penny and so much more. Justin will assess your case and create the most effective strategy given the facts of your situation just as he did with mine. Justin has cared as much about my case as I do. He earned my trust with his extensive knowledge about the law, his willingness and ability to explain it to me, the fact that he was very conscientious about what the lawsuit was costing me, and by genuinely having my best interests at heart. I have to agree with these other reviewers. This firm needs to have a hard look at some of their behaviors. I was their client for 5 years. I formed my opinion based on some of the issues I experienced and observed such as what I deemed as: Overbilling. Bullying. Subpar partners. Numerous mistakes. They made numerous mistakes but one of those mistakes opened me to legal action in another state. I actually had a contempt filing against me having nothing to do with me personally but actually due to a mistake made by Giovanni Ruscitti and his team (they say it wasn't a "mistake" but other lawyers disagree). Originally, Giovanni said he would fix it but that case is still outstanding and now Giovanni does not seem to be taking responsibility. I feel scared and overwhelmed as it was something my attorneys did and not me but since I'm the client, I got named on the complaint. I am hopeful he will protect me and pay whatever it costs to defend this issue. I think they have a serious problem of overbilling and were accused by others of overbilling me. Although the issues were varied, one is example is on multiple occasions I was given estimates and then the attorneys billed me for time that exceeded the estimate. In at least one case, this was by a large amount. Billing issues made for a very uncomfortable environment for me, one where trust was an ongoing issue. To be clear, this issue was related to billing from other lawyers in the firm, not Giovanni. The firm hires at least some of the children of the founding partners. All I'll say is you might want to check into the dynamic of accountability at the firm before hiring them. I felt the Managing Partner in particular, Giovanni Ruscitti, was bullying to me in multiple settings. It was difficult on me emotionally. Overall, I would say there are serious issues that need to be addressed. I often considered leaving but felt it was not in my best interest and that it would prejudice my cases given the nature of the stalking and level of invasion into my private life. read more

This is not a review of the law firm, but it is a review of Geoffrey Gardner, now an associate of BHGR. While at Jorgenson, Brownell and Pepin, Gardner was assigned to my real estate litigation in early 2019. He failed to prepare us for a rather hastened mediation in March 2019. Gardner attended the mediation but did not follow up with our concerns on release language needed to finalize settlement. Instead, Gardner concealed the mediator's follow-up email from us, which kept us from learning of the mediator's proposed terms. Gardner went silent for 24 days, after which he misrepresented to us that the other parties had signed off, and we would be compelled to sign a "final" settlement agreement. Gardner had previously informed the opposing parties that we had agreed to their terms and would sign the draft settlement. Gardner later testified in a hearing against us, alleging we had settled. Gardner's negligence and misrepresentation resulted in a botched mediation and 4 unnecessary years of costly litigation. IFor more information, refer to the 8th District Court's case: 2021CV30214. I do not know why Gardner would treat his clients so poorly. I do not recommend Gardner for legal counsel. read more

Berg Hill Greenleaf & Ruscitti was a disappointment. I hired a partner after a few short talks on the phone. She was impressive, smart, articulate and an expert in real estate law. I felt she understand my goals and would deliver a great outcome. Sadly, I never spoke to her again after my retainer check was cashed. Instead, she sent a junior attorney who did not know what I needed, spent time on low value tasks, and was unable to answer some of my questions about real estate law - her area of expertise. She eagerly volunteered to perform research for an additional fee though. I notified the firm to stop performing work indicating I was not satisfied with their service. They never asked why I was unhappy. It didn't seem to matter. I bet the partner I hired is terrific. If only she had stayed with me and performed the task I hired her to do. read more

I worked for a year and a half with Tasha Power on a 3rd party insurance claim. I found her to be a very kind person but the legal work was ineffective. Now I have a deeper understanding that often an insurance company will not give at all (in my case they paid out less after Tasha started working on the claim). I would have liked that advise upfront before paying out out exorbitant fees for work that was detailed, but not strategic. Fifteen thousand dollars later, it was only detrimental and costly to hire this firm to fight an insurance company. read more
