The absolute worst experience from start to "finish". The entire staff, including the owners son "little John" is disgustingly immature and unprofessional. They do not even greet you when you walk in. They make the experience uncomfortable and ruin the excitement. They sell boats out from under you. They make promises they cannot keep. NEVER deal with Pete in "sales" because the only thing he sells is BS. As a woman, I have a firmer handshake than that "man" who cannot even look you in the eyes while "shaking" your hand. I have NEVER dealt with a worse basin. We roamed and looked at the boats ourselves. They do NOT care and it shows. When I called to speak with "little john" he did not care at all to hear nor listen to my concerns. This place is a joke. Do not waste your time nor money. For you little John. This place is absurd. I got a slip there $2,600 for the season. When i got there they offered to do my bottom paint for a great price. I left a $300 deposit. Later found out that they didn't realize my boat was new and had not been painted yet and wanted to charge several thousand dollars more than anyone else. Was told id get money back and it never happened. Fast forward its time for my 20 hour service. Place i bought it told me 6 or 700 but they couldn't get to it right away. I speak with Brian about having them do it (especially with a $300 credit) and he told me he would be around that ballpark and call me when they pull boat out to finalize everything. I get a call whens its DONE saying it came out to $1,200 bucks. The way they operate is subpar. Now that the seasons started and half the slips are empty i understand why. If i had any confidence in getting my money back id leave and go bring my boat elsewhere. Beware of how these guys operate. read more

Stay away from this company! The owner is VERY unprofessional. I asked the owner how much to bottem paint my yacht and he could not give me a straight price. He said it depends on how much paint we use. It is always based on price per square foot. Then I had them install a port side engine and the mechanic didn't realize that the engine wasn't a standered rotation engine before he installed it! I was told that I needed a new transmission which was a lie. The transmittion didn't work because the engine was rotating the wrong dirrection! Just a compleat disaster, lost the entire boating season over it. Had to redue the entire job! Don't walk away, RUN away from them! The owner is a retired cop with a big chip on his shoulder. He is arrogant, unprofessional, and did NOTHING to rectify the mistake! read more

Bought a boat from this marina a few months ago and paid for a tune up that they never did which they refunded us for because they tried to scam us. The day after we got the boat it wouldn't start which we had to pay to fix. A week later it broke down again and we called them to tell them they sold us a boat that didn't work and they were very rude and basically said it wasn't their problem anymore. Over all I would not recommend getting a boat from here because they will sell you a boat for 30,000 that doesn't work and not care about it. read more

Warning - think twice on dealing with this Boat yard for sales or service! My husband and I bought our 26' boat new through Bergan Point Yacht Basin 20 years ago and have been a loyal customer, only to dealt recently with a a situation that leaves us feeling betrayed. BPYB maintained, repaired, winterized, and stored our boat, costing on average of about $6-8k per year for 20 years' time - I'd say we were pretty good customers. Of these services, I have no complaint. My complaint is that upon authorizing Bergan Point Yacht Basin to sell our boat last month, the dealings with their sales person was less than stellar, he was not upfront on the value of our boat, I found out (he apparently did not want us to know) he inflated the price of the boat to the buyer 4k above what he told us the price of the boat would be -telling the buyer these were "service charges" (which included taking them for a trial spin...shouldn't that be part of the sales pitch or what we pay a commission for?). The 4k would then not be part of the "sales" price, thus BPYB would get the commission plus the whole 4k, perhaps this is a typical practice to boost revenue but to the seller this seems like a way to shake more money out of the deal and something the seller (we) should be made aware of. The buyer (who I also found btw) refused to pay these extra charges, BPYB then charged our credit card an extra 1k in addition to their commission. BPYB said this was charged for "prep" work needed to sell our boat, which they never mentioned would be charged to sell the boat (we probably would have agreed to this sum had they informed us up front). My husband called our BPYB salesman Peter to disagree on the issue, and was met with belligerence. Then I decided to call BPYB myself to discuss this charge with the owner, JOHN, all he kept repeating was "just look at the bill" (yeah, we were looking at it) ...The only "bill" sent was for a 1k deposit as a down payment for winter storage should we not sell the boat, but the boat was sold before the winter and we do not feel that we should have to pay for winter storage. John's conversation with me was conducted in condescending tones, saying he was "shocked" at us for stopping this credit card charge, saying "after all we did for you over the last 20 years" (excuse me John, but we paid for "all" you did for us, your service was not a gift, and we never disputed any of your charges, and continued purchasing your services for 20 years, who should be thanking who?). Further rationalizing he said, "You know, we only charged you only 5% commission and we usually charge 10%" (hey, John- not my problem). Finally, John said in a raised voice, "I will not discuss this further with you" and "you do not know what you are talking about" (as a woman I certainly did not feel comfortable with the dismissive tactics of this man). As I tried to state my concerns, this rude man became angrier at me, talking over me as I spoke, and would not even make an appointment to discuss this further. The credit card company is now investigating. The dispute may be for a mere $1000, but the entire handling of the issue speaks to good will and honesty and this is not the way to conduct ethical business. In retrospect, considering the owner John and his salesman Peter's belligerent attitudes and poor customer service, one can certainly call into question now all our past dealings, severely tainting this 20 year experience with Bergan Point Yacht Basin. read more

These guys are the worst. They sold me a boat that they said was in mint condition and has been nothing but a headache since the day we bought it. They promised everything and did nothing. Literally the day after they dropped it off the engine died, ignition switch stopped working and so many things went wrong. Just bad guys.The worst part was I used one of their mechanics on the side-- Ron -- and he turned to be the biggest scum bag of them all. I don't care that I'm ratting him out. I paid him a ton of money to winterize my boat -- in advance -- and he showed up once, said he'd be back and I didn't see him until the spring. I paid to have it winterized, have my I/o removed/serviced and he was there for an hour. Paid him another $700 and he never showed again. When it came time to commission the boat in The spring , he talked a big game. Came for about an hour, told me all the great stuff he did, what a great deal he was giving me and I-- like an idiot gave him a other $600. He said he'd be back to replace parts (engine plugs) and do a bunch of other important stuff. He was also going to paint my boat bottom. After cancelling 3 times he finally showed up at around 8 at night. He did a shitty job painting my bottom within the hour of day light he had, asked for more money and said he'd come with me when we transported the boat to the harbor. He said "it's part of the service I offer " I coordinated the timing with him to make sure he'd be there. Waited 2 extra weeks just so he could make it. The morning the hauler came (after trying to contact him for days before) he bailed on me an hour before . Also turns out he never put my plug back in. If the hauler didn't notice, the boat would have sank. He also screwed up my fresh water pump when he re-routed around hot water heater and when I hired a new mechanic to fix it he said "whoever" worked on your boat was terrible, he left the engine plugs out. And here's the best part. At the end of last season he replaced my primary and secondary fuel pumps and this past weekend my boat stopped working and the mechanic said the fuel pumps are shot. Overall this guy is a scumbag and he works for this company and it's clearly the type of folks they have working there. Stay away from these guys. They're scum and they know it. Even their own mechanics say they suck. There's so much more to this story but I'm done. read more
