He quoted me one price at the consult & then wen I came back after saving up that amount, he denied he ever quoted me that price & nearly tripled the price.He claimed to "must have lost" the notes & my file from my initial consult. With time running out & my home about to go up for sheriff sale he knew I had little options & took advantage of it. He decided to put the bulk of his fees into my bankruptcy & just take every penny I could come up with. He had all of my info. My home was scheduled for sheriff sale on exact court date & time. I had to file for bankruptcy BEFORE my house was sold at the sheriff sale. That was the whole point I hired this jerk! I trusted him. He told me he would file my bankruptcy & that was that. Come to find out he filed my bankruptcy at 6pm THE DAY OF my court date for sheriff sale! So obviously that was TOO LATE & my home was sold at sheriff sale! It was a nightmare dealing with this man. He is unorganized & unethical! Long story short- my bankruptcy monthly payments along with my regular mortgage & bills were just too much & I lost my home:( Once I lost my house my bankruptcy was closed/dismissed. The trustee refunded ALL of my bankruptcy payments that I did make. When I didnt get that check in the mail I called the trustee. He said the refunds are sent to the lawyers to give to clients because with people loosing their homes, checks were always coming back & trustee didnt have forwarding addresses & assumed lawyers did. So I called Mr. Averett & asked about my refund check & he claimed he had no knowledge of it. LONG STORY SHORT- HE LIED & HE KEPT MY REFUND CHECK. Months went by & the trustee assured me the check was sent to me C/o my lawyer months ago. This was at Christmas time, Im losing my house & I had 3 kids, I really needed that money. Finally he admitted he KEPT MY FUCKING REFUND CHECK to cover his fees!!!!!! This is 100% UNETHICAL! Plus he never even told me he was doing it. He never tried to set up payment arrangements, he never ever even billed me. Then when I was vacating my house, the mortgage company sent me a check in exchange for me vacating. Again it was sent made out to me but c/o Mr. Averett. He tried keeping THAT TOO. By the time I picked it up from his office it was dated over a month earlier- he had it & denied having it for 6 weeks. I reported him to the PA bar! THIS GUY IS A THIEF, and a LAIR! STAY AWAY!!!!!
