My favorite roll is the Geniessen. The other rolls are a little crustier on the outside, which tends to cut into the roof of my mouth. Eating bread should never be painful. The eggs are absolutely delicious. The reason they are so delicious is because they use a flavoring called Fondor, which is full of MSG. If you don't mind the MSG, order the eggs. They're great. Cappuccino is also tasty. No MSG in there. They make a wonderful Zitronenrolle, which is a rolled light fluffy cake with a light whip cream and lemon flavor. So good! You must order this a day or two in advance.

In this part of town, there are 3 bakeries next to each other, but one seemed to have gone out of business and the other one was closed, so I ended up at Bäckerei Hoenen. They have the usual: Different breads and rolls, pastries and cake as well as coffee specialties although it's more a take-out place than a cafe where you would like to sit down and hang out. The cake prices were a pleasant surprise: 2.00 - 2.15 € per slice - and those are big. You can easily share a slice with 2 people. In the end I bought 3 slices of cake (1 cheesecake, 1 cherry cake, 1 peach cake), 2 multigrain rolls as well as a small ball shaped pastry for the kiddo and everything rang in at 7.85 €. The service was very friendly & quick. I was in & out within 5 minutes. We had afternoon coffee at my in-law's house half an hour later and everything turned out to be quite good. The cheesecake was pleasantly light and my MIL/FIL enjoyed the fruit cakes as well. This is definitely a good place to hit if you need to buy the essentials for a proper German sit-in with "Kaffee und Kuchen".

You can get individual scoops in either a waffle cone or paper bowl (which is convenient if you stop by for some take-out ice cream) or you can order some of their special ice cream bowl creations. For the latter they have three categories: Kids, Non-Alcohol and Alcohol. The kiddie specials are smaller bowls containing 2 varying scoops of ice cream, whipped cream and some choco drizzle. You can choose between "Pinocchio", "Biene Maja" and the "Kinderbecher". I used to love the "Biene Maja" when I was a kid. The non-alcoholic specials are bowls of varying flavors of 3 scoops of ice cream, drizzles, whipped cream and some also feature fresh fruits. My favorite here is the "Caramel Becher". The alcoholic specials are exactly that. They are similar to the previous ones, but also contain different liquors. I love the "Amarena Becher". So yummy. The service here is always friendly and quick. Good to know: After October they close for the winter and re-open in spring.
