A team of doctors was assigned to his care and leading the treatment was Dr. Joseph Walsh, the cardiologist. Once my dad was stabilized, he was moved to ICU. For the next four days, I saw Dr. Walsh visit my dad frequently. He took the time to sit with my dad and evaluate him thoroughly and monitored his progress with keen interest. He made sure my dad got the prescribed medications, diet, exercise and directed the attending nurse meticulously. All along, he discussed the diagnosis and plan with me with great patience. I truly feel that the Dr. Walsh saved my dad that day. Once my dad was discharged, Dr. Walsh proactively followed up with us and offered a comprehensive plan of action, which included placing a high-tech heart monitor, several relevant and revealing tests, and coordinated with other specialists, including GI specialist. It can be overwhelming for the patient/family to tackle so many specialists, but Dr. Walsh personally spoke with other doctors on the team and became our single point of contact. Dr. Walsh not only demonstrated his expertise in cardiology, but he did it with the warmest, most caring attitude. It felt like he was treating his own dad. My dad was comforted by his mere presence. This is profound and rare in today's medical experience. My family and I are eternally grateful to Dr. Walsh - thank you!

He was very abrupt, didn't even bother to introduce himself and acted like he couldn't be bothered to talk to us. The whole appointment had to have been about five whole minutes -- for a new patient exam! WTF? We were both really offended by his beside manner. He didn't even introduce himself. He was just like, "So what are you here for?" Well, excuse us for taking up your time! We explained when we scheduled the appointment that my husband is a new patient, needs a general physical and we'd just like to establish a relationship with a primary care doctor. Obviously the front desk hadn't communicated that to the doctor before he came in to meet with us! The guy had the warmth and personality of a block of ice. For a first time patient, he also didn't ask a whole lot of questions that you think would be relevant to assess someone's health! He was supposed to give my husband a physical, but barely did anything beyond check his blood pressure and order some blood tests -- several of which we had to specifically ask for. He kept asking us what we wanted...um, we want you to do your job and be our doctor! I personally like a doctor that asks relevant questions about diet, lifestyle, stress factors, etc., and he totally dropped the ball on that one. Ultimately, his lack of personality or caring attitude really turned both of us off. Beyond that, we're not even sure how good of a doctor he is because he didn't ask some fairly important, standard questions you would ask a new patient. We will continue to search for a better doctor. This guy just didn't give us a sense of confidence that we would be in good hands.
