Over the course of our time together, Tammy helped me to shift the way I thought about food, promoting simple but effective steps to take after each phone call together. She listened to my concerns and prior frustrations from working with apps and coaches in the past and never once nudged any boundaries I set down. There was no such thing as a stupid question and Tammy made sure I had all the resources, answers, links, and videos I needed to be successful in forming better habits. I really appreciated that she worked with what was functional and accessible for me--on a budget, without a car, limited freezer space, etc. Instead of reminding me to scoop out my morning bagel like prior coaches have, Tammy asked each call what worked for me, what didn't, and what helped me to feel satisfied at each meal. Then we'd find one thing to improve--adding more color to each meal or adding a "sprinkle" like sunflower seeds or olive oil to help a meal reach its full nutritional potential. I also never felt like I was on my own in anything Tammy suggested I try. Gotta make my own broth this week to cook with? Here are great places to get bones, here is a recipe to do it, here are instructions for your instantpot, etc. Want to start incorporating more fish into my diet? Here are 3 brands for tinned fish, a local catch market for seasonal choices, and recipes. I was able to develop sustainable, long-lasting healthy habits by working with Tammy and I find myself continuing to grow with her guidance even though our sessions together are over. After absolutely refusing to put chia seeds in anything for our 15 weeks together, the other day I ate them willingly because I thought "Tammy said these are good for me and I haven't had them yet." This was the shift I was looking for and I'm so thankful for Tammy's warmth, knowledge, and support. I'd recommend her in a heartbeat.

Second, you have to download an app to communicate with her Third, be prepared to spend ALOT of time taking pictures of the food you eat Fourth, She is expensive ($1500!) . Has an air-tight policy for getting paid monthly. So don't even think about skipping or changing payment terms. (Please note that I am not saying businesses shouldn't be paid and have clear policies, but tere was something about the focus which was "unsettling" to me.) Fifth, A lot of her advice was also referenced in the book she wrotereplicated (which comes with the $1500 when you sign-up with her!). After I got the book and read it, I then wondered why was I paying $1,500 ? I think you have to sign a contract. SO BE THOUGHTFUL BEFORE SIGNING IT !!!!!! Overall I was uninspired and never warmed to her or the process. In the end, I recommend that anyone selecting this type of service be fully committed. And if any of the points I have raised, resonant with you - think whether the benefits outweigh the price tag for them. BTW: Her book is great. Hence the three stars as it encapulates a lot of solid information.

For about half the month, I was deep in brain fog, exhausted, overwhelmed, and disconnected. Nothing really brought me joy, and my nervous system felt like it was constantly buzzing on high. The other half of the month, when I started to feel a bit better, I was mostly just recovering from how depleted I had been. It was an awful cycle. Working with Dr. Jenn has been truly life changing. She didn't just help me understand and regulate my hormones, she supported me through the full experience of perimenopause in a way that felt deeply holistic. She took the time to talk through the psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical shifts I was going through, which made me feel seen and understood in a way I hadn't before. Now, I feel like I have my brain back. I have energy again. I can work out at the level I want, which is incredibly important to me as a dance teacher, and I feel happy and present with my child. Most importantly, I feel hopeful about my future again. I truly don't think I would have been able to make some of the big life changes I've been navigating without Dr. Jenn's support. She helped me get to a place where I have the energy, resilience, and clarity to show up for my life. I'm so grateful for her care and would highly recommend her to anyone navigating perimenopause.

Dr. Lutrin was very highly professional in her time with me asking appropriate questions, but not wasting my time. While I was sad to learn that she retired just recently, I'm delighted with my initial appointment with Dr. Deskin. I received the same kind of high-quality care, with appropriate questions, and no time wasted. Overall, my experience with Tara Natural Medicine has been the most positive experience I've had of naturopathic medicine to date! My experience with Dr. Korza was mixed, and unfortunately, disappointing in several critical ways…read more Dr. Korza was kind and attentive during appointments, and it was clear she wanted to support me. However, there were significant issues with timeliness and accuracy that made my fertility journey far more stressful than necessary. Firstly, Dr. Korza recommended that I take evening primrose oil from ovulation to menses, a protocol that I later discovered was incorrect. After consulting another doctor--and doing a basic Google search--I found that it's typically recommended to take evening primrose oil from the first day of menses to ovulation, not the other way around. This incorrect advice could have negatively impacted my progress. Dr. Korza also suggested that I start progesterone but never ordered the prescription. I had to call and email repeatedly before anything was finally arranged. Adding to the frustration, the clinic's email system, "Charm," limits the number of emails a client can send, even if you're following up because you haven't received a response. I ended up having to share personal details with a receptionist just to get answers. While Dr. Korza was friendly and attentive in our video meeting, the lack of follow-through was unacceptable, especially at the rate of $300 per hour for 45 minutes on video and the remaining time spent typing up my treatment plan. For something as time-sensitive as fertility, where timing can be everything, I expected more responsive support. If you're trying to get pregnant and need timely, accurate guidance, I would not recommend Dr. Korza.

Though I had several years of self-taught herbal experience and a few informal apprenticeships under my belt before taking this course, this was my first time participating in a more structured program. The class was made up of about 14-16 students from many different walks of life and with varying degrees of herbal experience--both elements that greatly added to the depth and richness of the classroom environment. Because Ancestral Apothecary is dedicated to helping folks connect their ancestral healing traditions, each person brought with them their own personal and cultural gifts. It was so incredible to watch my fellow students re-establish connection with their family/ancestral lines through the power and wisdom of plants As a white person of European descent I am always concerned with making sure I am not appropriating the healing traditions of other cultures and/or taking healing practices out of their cultural/spiritual/political/historical contexts (things that I see a lot of in white herbalism). It was extremely important for me to find ways to discover and connect to my own ancient ancestral lines and to resist the all too common pull towards colonizing the traditions of people of color. Ancestral apothecary gave me the space and support to connect to plants in a deeply meaningful way that has ended up informing so much of my world view. Ancestral Apothecary is the only herbal program that I know of that so powerfully connects herbalism and healing to the movement towards social and political liberation of all people--a connection that is, in itself, ancient. I have since moved away from California and taken a break from my herbalism training but I often think about moving back to the Bay Area so that I can take more classes here. I am particularly excited about the Cecemmana clinical herbalism program and have said many times that if I ever decided to become a clinical herbalist this is the only program for me!
