I booked my appointment with Berketex by sending an online enquiry. I received a call back the next day and the person on the phone was friendly and efficient. The day before my appointment someone called to confirm again and was lovely on the phone. When I went to the appointment at the flagship store in London the sales assistant sat me down and asked what I was looking for and when my wedding was. When I told her it was in three months time she said 'oh you've left it a little late, haven't you'. I said 'well not really as I only got engaged last weekend'. The rest of the encounter got worse from here. After discussing what I was looking for, the sales assistant suggested that I select some dresses off the rack. The store was tiny and I was sure that the row of 100 or so dresses couldn't be all that was on offer but it was. I received no help in finding dresses, and no suggestions of dresses that I might like based on my needs or my body shape. The dresses were dirty and in poor repair. After trying on the first 5 dresses I'd selected I went to look for some more based on the suggestions of a friend who had been looking on my behaldf while I was in the dressing room. It was only then that I was told I'd only be allowed to try one more as each bride is only permitted to try 6 dresses in total as brides tend to become 'confused' when they try more than 6. This is after haveing spoken to someone from the shop on 2 occassions priot to arriving and having a sit down with the assistant before starting. There was one dress I liked but I was told that the day I was there was not only the last day of a 20% off sale, but that the offer to waive the rush order fee and reduce the alteration fee would only stand that day and if I left the store without choosing a dress I would not get any similar offers in the future. I found this hard sell tactic very off putting and even if I found my dream dress there, I would never have bought it from that sales assistant as I found her pushy and rude. In fact, I would never buy anything from Berketex and I would not reccomend any of their stores to anyone I know. The range of styles shown online is not representative of what is available in-store, the dresses available to try are dirty and some are torn and missing beads or crystals. And to top it all off, the sales staff and customer service are apalling. read more
