I just got fired as a client. They said I was rude. You bet. When you charge me 127.29 for clavamo. It is augmentin. Had she given me a script, it would have been 18.00. I specifically asked if there was human equivalent. I have a witness to the conversation. Response I am a vet. If you don't know what augmentin is, should you be a vet? Dr. Wolhfhrt is the only vet I can't stand. She lied. My dog was sick. I would have eaten it. Perhaps it is the way she tossed my hand aside when I put down a beloved pet. I spent 941.29 and got nailed for exta 100.00. Be prepared to lose your savings. They ask about money before what is wrong with your pet. Brace yourself it will hurt. Ps. My dog had a reaction and had to pay another 100 plus. They wanted to charge me for an emergency visit, too. I hadn't planned on going back. read more

Do not purchase any medication from them. They suggest an online pharmacy on their site. I just got meds directly from the office today and one medication was $28.56 more from them and the other was $24 more! I called them to question huge price difference and the girl who answered was so rude! "the online pharmacy is a corporation and we can't match them!". I asked to speak to office manager and she said "we don't have one!". very rude. I just spent $380 for a physical and vaccinations a month ago and this is how they speak to clients?! Won't euthanize a cat with cancer. None of the local vets will take on new clients but i thought that with this, they would give in. I called and they said, if we absolutely have to but we recommend you go to your regular vet. My regular vet is 50 minutes away because no one will take on new clients here, I had to travel! All of this should be illegal. The same way a hospital cannot refuse a sick person, a vet should not be able to refuse a sick cat! read more

HORRIBLE place of business my sister brought her dog in when he had a seizure in the middle of the night and ended up needing oxygen, they told her that he would most likely need to be put down... here he is alive almost a year later. For my own experience, my cat had been diagnosed with cancer and was having labored breathing so I called the only "emergency vet" in town and was told that they couldn't see her because she hadn't been seen previously. Everyone needs to know that this place should NOT be able to call themselves an emergency vet unless this is your regular vet. The women on the phone was horrendous, lacked knowledge and no compassion, if you love your animal please go to Latham upstate veterinary specialties instead. This veterinary hospital was recommended when my husband saw a dog get hit by a car. We were helping the owners of the dog find an emergency hospital to bring their sweet 2 year old Jack Russell. Berkshire Veterinary Hospital says they take emergencies but when I called they seemed to be most concerned about their $200 fee. I was put on hold 3 times before they even said they would see the dog. While this place may be good to their "regulars"... they were not at all welcoming in an emergency. After moving back to the Berkshires, I took my two dogs to BVH last summer for annual exams and shots. My elderly Lab did fine (very mellow demeanor), but my younger rescue was freaked out and they told me she would have to be tranquilized for future visits. Well, that was a red flag. Yesterday, a refill request was sent to BVH from Ch--y for my Lab's heartworm/flea combo med which is due tomorrow. BVH will not refill it as my Lab is due in a week for her annual. Of course, they are booking two weeks out. I will not compromise on the timeliness of her meds. Even with an appointment scheduled, they will not approve the refill. The gals I spoke to were abrasive, uncaring, and frankly told me to just go elsewhere. I am stunned at the complete lack of care and concern for the welfare of my dog. Go elsewhere. read more

I started taking my pets here at the beginning of the pandemic and was immediately suspicious by how they ran the business, but against my best instincts I stayed. Through over a thousand dollars of unnecessary up-charges, gaslighting and out-and-out insults by the so-called vets when I asked questions, I believe this place runs on greed and LIES. Once my cat went in with all of her teeth and came out with one of her fangs snapped off. I gave them an opportunity to make it right, but instead they gaslight me and tried to distract me by racking up unnecessary charges. Another time they told me my cat was about to die if they didn't take her and charge me several thousand dollars to keep her in a facility I was not allowed to enter. I declined and she somehow made a miraculous recovery in a week. But they needed to charge me a grand for the tests to tell me that. They upcharge hundreds for services they say they provide but do not and they have no problem pretending to do work they aren't. They should be shut down as they are a blight on the community and probably killing and torturing our beloved pets so they can bank another 100 or 200 bucks. Oh, and I'm the vet's neighbor. I drove 34 miles to only find out the incompetence of this vet clinic. Not only in the fall of 2020 did they butcher my dogs face, but today they cancelled an appointment without notifying me. Last month my dog was seen for nail trim and his rabies shot with no problems. Today I was told he was on a "NO SEE LIST." WHY I ASKED ? Answer...because of what happened in the fall. Because they do not like being told they screwed up. What happened in the fall, caused myself and my dog a lot of grief, but we forgave them, looked past it all, I even made another appointment with them, most people would changed veterinarians, after what happened, but I know people make mistakes, so I gave them a second chance. I thought everything was fine. What happened today was unprofessional, unethical & hostile ! It was because of what happened in the fall when they were negligent and offered no remorse for the hack job they did on my purebred. It took 5 weeks of waiting for a refund. After going thru several channels. This veterinarian practice is a joke. Yes I said it...a joke ! They have displayed immense immaturity, have no morals, lack professionalism, and quite frankly show a unsuitable aptitude of total discrimination. read more

First I do not work for BVH however for years did wildlife rehab and have had many pets with various Vets. BVH takes care of my two rare white siamese and I have experienced only kind professional help. I have been in the room with all my animals exams. These vets are extremely good and calming at handling cats of dogs. Once while in latin America one of mine got a critical case of) UTI (blood everywhere and they took the cat on emergency from the pet sitter, basically saved him. During that work they were upfront on cost and we even canceled some visits to same money. Now about Vets and money. When you get people medical help the offices all say they take Medicare, humana or whatever which often gets denied and you are builded for hundreds, if not thousand afterwords with the threat of collections. Vets clearly understand that many of the people are fixed income, or poor. So they explain fees up front. When some can't pay a child's hospital bill they don't abandon them This is not the case for vets people often drop off a dog or cat to be euthanized and then never return. You would be stunned how common this is. People also drop off animals with a problem and when the bill get high they abandon them at the vets. Unlike a human child they must know if you will pay for your pets care. The people at the front desk struggle with pain of loosing a pet and then finances every day. It is an emotional job so cut them some slack. They do it because they love animals. If we compare vet prices to human they are tiny. Yet I understand tiny is a lot when you don't have it. But is not greed for them to ask costs up front. The behavior of pet owner have forced this issue and it being fair and open on their part. In one trip we passed on an xray because I knew how to monitor my cat at home. Many vets would have just tacked the costs on to the bill. BVH does care about the cost of pet health. For my two cats I need a CD diet, very expensive, however they charge me way below Amazon, Petco and Chewy. My heart goes to you when you loose a friend I have stayed home and had them go in arms and held them at vets office to put them down more than i care to remember. This proves the animals they care for is honestly up front in pricing more than any vet I have worked with. So give them a break, some times the days are hard to handle for staff and vets. Berkshire Animal Hospital was there when we needed help! We were camping in the Berkshires last week when our Yorkie pretty much ripped her nail off on a loosely knitted blanket. Just our luck, it was minutes before 5pm. We called 2 vets prior with no luck. Berkshire Animal Hospital answered and told us to come right in. With Covid it was a curbside drop off. Handing her over, knowing she was confused and in pain was extremely difficult. The vet tech was reassuring and compassionate. The vet called us within 20 minutes, explained everything to us, prescribed our pup with what she needed, bandaged her up and within 10 minutes after the chat with the doc she was back in my lap. 9 days later she is back to her normal self, with 1 less nail! I had a very traumatic experience that left me feeling helpless and alone during a very difficult time. First, I was shocked to be told by an emergency vet that they can not help my dog because they don't know him even after giving them a detailed rundown of the previous 48 hours. As my dog passed away on the way there, I was told not to bring him because they would charge me 200 dollars to tell me he was gone. Needing confirmation, I brought him there anyway and after I was locked in the breeze way while crying and saying my goodbyes to my dog, I just asked if they would make sure my baby was taken care of and to help him get to where he needed to be for cremation... their response was "not until you pay us". To care for an animal is to care for a human and nobody should ever be made to feel the way that the staff at Berkshire vet made me feel that night. read more

Berkshire Veterinary Hospital displayed their true colors. Instead of red, white and blue - or insert your favorite color - it is shades of incompetence and greed. Recently Berkshire Veterinary Hospital canceled my dog's follow-up appointment without informing me or attempting to reschedule. I needed the appointment... scratch that, my dog needed this appointment to get his medication refilled and his bladder drained while waiting for his swollen prostrate to reduce in size. Herein lies the incompetence, on Wednesday they referred us to a specialty care emergency room veterinarian to run tests and check if he can safely take a special medication. After the emergency room visit, a follow-up appointment was booked with Berkshire Vet to continue treatment and care. Lo and behold, when I showed up to his appointment, and to my surprise learning that it was cancelled, they acted very callous about the situation knowing full well the veterinarian they referred us to only does emergency room style work ups and not long-term care. Putting it in perspective, imagine booking a follow-up appointment with your primary care doctor after they referred you to a specialist and then they arbitrarily cancel it without informing you and then proceed to turn you away. That means no medication refills, prescribed by them, and not draining your bladder to give some relief while waiting for the inflammation to go down. I mentioned greed earlier. Here is the kicker; they subsequently offered to see him on an emergency case basis, which naturally would incur increased costs and an emergency service fee of $200. With me so far? Berkshire Veterinary Hospital canceled an appointment vital for my dog's health, and then tried to upsell an emergency visit during the exact time that I had a scheduled appointment. What happens when a customer becomes upset over the whole mishandled situation and after the staff hangs up the phone on a customer multiple times? Naturally they call the police and make false statements. Berkshire Veterinary Hospital you screwed up. Your actions, the actions of your staff and doctors, created this problem. No empty gestures of sorrow. Make some serious changes. Train your staff better. Don't hang up on patients and don't cancel appointments without informing them. People depend on your care for their animals. Do better. read more

BEWARE OF DR HUSSEY I have been going here for about 20 years all and all have been happy they have worked with me and helped me out a lot TERRIBLE I called her awhile ago on my senior dog left multiple calls for over a month she never returned my call then another occasion I had my dog in prior for emergency visit saw a different vet I was supposed to keep my dog bed rested well he wasn't having it so I called to talk to vet who saw him on emergency to ask if I could have him admitted in the meantime dr hussey was on got word of my request called me and lied and said couldn't admit him the next morning the dr I had called called me and said she had no problem admitting him so she lied to me she is a terrible vet I also have been able to put an emergency on my bill if needed which I pay on every month my baby needed to go in she was on she refused to let me put anything on my bill even after being told by staff I am very trustworthy and pay on it monthly so just a warning dr hussey should not be in this field she is terrible and does not care about animals at all read more

This was by far the worst and most incompetent vet experience I have ever had. They don't even care to make sure your pet is up to date on vaccines even when you bring them in for their annual check up. To make matters worse, the vet found a mass on our dog and didn't even tell us about it. I only found out about it after the fact when I called to ask about vaccine records because our groomer informed us she was overdue. This was a surprise, as we had brought her in to the vet for her check up only a few weeks prior. And then when it is brought to their attention that they completely messed up and didn't give the proper vaccine, they are too busy to do anything to remedy it. As for the mass, the person on the phone couldn't tell me anything more than the vet noting a mass in the records. No location, no follow up. Nothing. I should have listened to the bad reviews I heard about them. Hopefully you can learn from my mistake. read more

Horrible - no empathy at all. My 18 year old dog was an emergency visit - had to be put down- $500 - all they were concerned about was payment. I was not prepared for this happening and offered 1/2 now and 1/2 at pick up. Demanded I call with Credit Card when I got home- emotional mess - continued to call for next three days - threatening to not continue with cremation until payment was made. Ran in with payment - we're closing in a few minutes until they realized payment was coming- NO compassion whatsoever. Glad they don't care for humans. read more

I have been bringing my dogs there for years but lately they seem to be less concerned about my animals. I brought my Molly and explained how she is acting the same as when she had Lyme. I said she is in pain and needs an antibiotic like last year. She was 100% better within 2 days last year. Simple request. They said they would give her pain meds and wait until her Lyme test C6 or something like that ,for a whopping 140.00 dollars. Not to mention they did her anal glands which I didn't ask for them to do. They did other blood work and called me with the price. I nearly died when they told me it would cost 509.00 buck for 30 mins of work. . WTH. So I waited in my car (which other vet places) are open for you to go in with your dog. I think this is there way of doing stuff that your unaware of and don't want done. Then call you on your cell phone and tell you the amt you owe. I am so angry. read more

We have used Berkshire Vet for many years with our pets. Unfortunately, the level of care has changed. You can't speak to anyone unless an appointment is made, and all appointments are emergency cost appointments ($200 just to be seen) during normal business hours, unless you want to wait weeks. The front desk staff are rude and unhelpful. We have loved the doctors, but this new way of costly service, and lack of compassion and concern for pet owners has us looking elsewhere. read more

Berkshire Veterinary Hospital is excellent! We took our dog there from another Vet Clinic in the area for a second opinion on a double tooth extraction. Not only did they get him in quickly, they were very thorough and in the end stated he did not, in fact, need those 2 teeth removed at this time, and may not ever need them removed. They removed a small "slab" of tooth instead, saving our dog anesthetic, an overnight stay and the pain of extraction, as well as saving us over $850.00. I have used this vet for many, many years. They have seen all of my pets, including my dogs and guinea pigs. I trust them and know they truly care about my animals. They do their very best for their clients, though I know sometimes it isn't easy to diagnose non-verbal creatures, and it can get costly, but if you love your animals the way I love mine, its worth getting the best treatment. read more

When my dog got very sick when we were visiting in the Berkshires we needed a veterinarian in a hurry. We brought him in as an emergency at the facility that was closest, and were told that they couldn't see him. We then found Berkshire Veterinary Hospital, and they fit him right in. Unfortunately he needed to be hospitalized for 5 days. During that time we spoke to several of the doctors on call. Each one took time to answer all of our questions and concerns. Our dog received wonderful care the entire time that he was in the hospital, and through his recuperation after he was released.
