If you're looking at their pictures, STOP and move on! We booked this hotel under Costco and we were Very disappointed. Guess what! AC doesn't work! Upon our arrival, we called the front desk about the AC and informed us that "someone will be at our room to check." We waited for at least 45 minutes and no one showed up. We tried calling the front desk again, but the phone just kept ringing. We eventually went down to the front desk and found out that the whole hotel had NO AC. I questioned them on why they tried to hide it , not being transparent and telling us that someone will come to our room to check when the whole building had no AC. Keep in mind that we just arrived coming from a long flight. The Manager, kevin? helped us and tried to do the right thing. He showed us another room, but the room was blowing hot air. They offered fan, but I didn't go on vacation expecting multiple fan blowing air to our face to combat the heat. We informed him that this was unacceptable for us and we will try to book another hotel with AC. Evidently, he managed to booked us into a different hotel, Melia Kensington which was a "sister" hotel and is much better than the White House. He also prepared transportation for transfer to Kensington. In short, we will NEVER booked into this hotel. The hotel was old, dark and the hallway carpet was dirty. Don't be fooled with the attached pictures on their website. The main lobby is ok, but your path to your room was dark and dingy. Moreover, their elevators were weird; Not all can be used to go up to your room. I informed and wrote to Costco about this matter. Our intention is to educate and informed the public on what to expect if they decided to booked on this property. I felt they were dishonest, non-transparent and their practice was unethical. I wish I had taken some pictures before leaving this place, but we were so frustrated and exhausted of the situation that we couldn't wait to leave the place. Good morning London! First time here. I didn't know what to expect. I'm glad I didn't have high expectations or low expectations. Booked through Costco (not sponsored) I know Costco wouldn't do you like that. Received daily breakfast buffet and daily tapas. Staff is extremely nice! Hotel is basically centralized from everything. Every sight you want to see is about 2miles away. Walking distance from everything. But if you wanted to Uber, you can... it will get costly. A bike is the way to go also. Near a Starbucks, Amazon fresh store for little groceries. All in all. My experience was amazing. I would stay here again! But don't take my word for it. Thanks London! Given some of the negative reviews, especially about theft, we were bracing for the worst. We, however, had a great stay! The rooms were clean, so were the sheets (my pet peeve is when the sheets are stained or don't look clean). The room was also thoughtfully laid out with plenty of hangers, shelves, they even had toothbrushes and toothpaste. We stayed at a family "Level" room, and it was really nice that the third bed was actually a very firm couch/bed for our son instead of a lumpy pull out or a rollaway bed. The service is excellent. From housekeeping to the front desk, everyone was so nice and tried to help us, even with a slightly early check-in. The neighborhood is safe and it's right near several Tube station. We used Great Portland Street the most. Maybe we got lucky with our room, it was on the 8th floor and a corner room. We didn't have any noise from the street or neighbors. We were most surprised with the complimentary "Level" breakfast and tapas (from 5:30-7:30 pm). I was expecting the standard Best Western type of fare, but it is several notches about that. It was really good food! The wine selection during tapas hours, as well as the hard liquor, was wide ranging and the tapas themselves were fantastic. There's a restaurant attached to this hotel and it shows. Everything was tasty. On the days we had a late lunch, tapas was enough for us to skip dinner, which is nice when you just don't want to go out after a long day of sight seeing with kids. This is my second time staying here. First time was a year ago and the cleaning crew stole my ear buds when I had to switch rooms due to AC not working, we tracked them and the front desk and manager did nothing about it. Now I'm back here because a friend likes this place and what I forgot about from the first trip was the DOOR SLAMMING FROM THE CLEANING CREW. All they do is slam doors all morning long and the walls are paper thin. It is absolutely absurd. I'm never staying here again. read more

I came to London with a colleague before we flew home. I was excited to be in a highly rated hotel in Regency Park. Close to all the places I wanted to go for a short weekend in London. But what I found, was NOT a 4 star experience. 1. after a day of touring, I went to the bar to get a glass of wine to take to my room. The next three minutes made me think I was in a three stooges movie. Two waiters plus a bartender could not understand I wanted a glass of white wine. One thought I wanted a glass. Another thought I wanted to buy a bottle. The third just stared at me then started laughing. 2. My colleague went to the elevator to go to his room. To get to your room, you have to push the room floor on a touch pad then it tells you which elevator (A, B, C, or D) is the one you get on. Here is what played out for him "I pushed the "3" on the touch screen and it told me to go to elevator C. I went to C and it told me to go to B. I went back to B and it told me to go back to C again. I played this game four or five times before the elevator opened. Then I got on and the door closed. But rather than going up, the door opened again. This happened about six times before I bailed and took the stairs. Not worth getting stuck in an elevator." 3. My colleague and I were in end rooms (341 and 541) and we had 0-1 bar of wifi. My text messages wouldn't even to thru to hit so we could coordinate. I had to go out into the hall to send a simple text. And forget having a phone call through What's App. At one point one of my daughters really needed to talk to me so I had to sit in the hall by the elevators (many odd looks ensued) so I could get enough wifi to talk to her. 4. My colleague wasn't feeling well so he wanted to order room service which had to be done via scanning a QR code. Guess what, couldn't scan--No wifi. He went down to the front desk and the hotel staff told him to look at his phone and "see you have 4 bars". "But not in my room!" They finally let him order something from the main menu for his inconvenience. 5. Then there was my room service challenge. I walked into the hall to get WiFi and scanned the QR code. I couldn't eat anything on the menu due to food allergies, primarily gluten. So I called room service and was told that I had to order off that menu. I said "you can not accommodate people with food allergies?" Them: "You have to order off the menu." Me: "all I want is a salad or chicken or something simple. Can you please just ask the chef?" Them: "I have to ask my supervisor who then will need to talk to the manager then we have to talk to the chef." Fifteen minutes later I get a call back saying they can accommodate that. -- I should not have had to go through that much effort to get a plain salad with chicken. THEN the food arrives and the man who delivered was very sweet and I asked him to charge it to my room. He said they couldn't do that because they didn't have my credit card on file (yet I paid for the room with my credit card). So I got my credit card and paid. As he handed me the receipt he said "hold onto this incase they charge your room bill." What?!? "I said no, you make sure they don't charge my room. (They didn't.) This hotel has a lot of work to do and it was just one frustration after another for us for two nights. At $256 euros a night, I expected a MUCH better experience. I won't be back read more

Decent rooms, terrible service, items stolen, would not return. We checked in to a room that had clearly not been cleaned from the last guest. I called housekeeping. Housekeeping asked me to call the front desk for a new room. Front desk asked me to call housekeeping. Housekeeping sent a person and finally told us to go to the front desk for a new room. We were jetlagged and tired -- none of this should have been facilitated by the guest. Further, we left several bags with the concierge after check out. When we collected them several hours later, we noticed some small items were missing -- some food items and vitamins. Minor issue in value but major issue in principle. Concierge was dismissive when we called to ask about it and frequently interrupted me on the phone. We left it alone. Good walkability in the area and the rooms are nice when cleaned. But I don't trust the staff and would not return. read more

Location of this hotel wasn't bad! In a quiet street with not too much car traffic or foot traffic. It was super close to the Great Portland Underground station so made getting around the city very easy! There are also a number of places to eat in the surrounding area to give you lots of choices if you don't want to travel too far for food or drinks. The only thing that was disappointing was that the hotel was going through some major renovations which made some of the amenities not available. The main entrance wasn't open, which wasn't so much of a big deal, the walk to the other side wasn't that far. I just wish we were either notified of all this construction or at least given a discount on the room or something. Also, the elevators were super slow! The room was oddly shaped, and I'm not sure if it's because we were a corner room, but it seemed like we were given a tiny room for the price that we paid. I know I've read that rooms in Europe are a lot smaller, but the bed basically took up all of the room. The bathroom was a nice size, so no complaints with that. All in all, room was average with nothing special about it tho. The pillows were super flat, we needed to use 2 pillows which was still flat! Another odd thing was the A/C heater unit was wonky. It either blew air that was too hot or too cold. Nothing comfortable in between so you just had to pick and choose if you just wanted to be hot or cold. The other reason for the hotel losing stars was upon us checking out, we noticed we had an extra charge for room service that we did not use. It took almost an hour to get this fixed as they had charged us and we had already paid. But good thing my husband checked the invoice to correct them. They tried to explain that the guy helping us was new.. but why did it take so long? The people trying to fix it basically disappeared on us and told us they'd be back. Well we waited for over half an hour.. with no word. We had a train to catch to go to Paris and I had to call the manager to get everything situated. But that took me trying to talk to somebody 2 times before I got the manager involved. All in all, we will not be staying here again. For the price, it definitely was not worth it. read more

I almost exclusively stay at Marriott hotels so I wasn't sure what to expect from the Melia White House. I was pleasantly surprised though because my boyfriend and I had the most amazing stay here during our weekend in London. The room was beautiful and clean, and the whole hotel was just really chic. The breakfast. We have to talk about how this breakfast was so amazing that we both ate enough for a family of 4. They even had an entire separate table for gluten free pastries!! If Hotels were boxers then The Melia White House is punching well above its weight. I will always try and get a room here first before any other London hotel and every stay in the last 4 years has been a pleasure. It ticks nearly all the boxes for me. I see only one area where they could improve and that would be the food. It is average to good and on par with most other London Hotels of this class but the breakfast is in need of some help. Props to the designers of the White House. It has a modern contemporary feel yet still keeps a classy vibe starting from right outside the door with the Top hatted doorman in his well cut greatcoat and then on inside with the courteous well groomed staff who are always keen to assist. There are some well thought out add ons too such as the lifts which you call by entering your floor number. Once you hit the button the unit responds by indicating which of the four lifts (A,B,C or D) to proceed to. When it arrives you step in and it will automatically deliver you to the correct floor with no more button pushing required. Love it. Some nice touches in the swish rooms also. They provide their own 'Melia' customised toiletries but the bit I like best is the electrical socket outlets and, for all the outrageously swanky & ludicrously expensive hotels i have stayed in all over the world, this is a first!! Forgot your outlet adaptor again you doof? No worries, they have three variations of socket outlet in a wallplate. UK, European & North American. How thoughtful is that!! I can safely say that in this 'handy for everything' part of town, you will get more than your money's worth when compared to the VFM from the other overpriced, under resourced Hotels supposedly in the same class. The Melia knocks their blocks off. If you should choose to stay here then you are a few minutes walking distance to beautiful Regents Park but what may also interest you is on the opposite side of the road from the entrance to the Melia is a famous London landmark. I really wanted to love this hotel bc it's the same chain as the one we stay at in Cabo (ME by Melia) but there were just too many little things that were bothersome. For the price we paid, we just expected a little more. The hotel itself is very clean, nicely updated trendy hotel centrally located to most sites. You're walking distance to most restaurants and just a tube ride away from lots of site seeing. The issues? Well for one I specifically picked this hotel bc of the gym, but they were remodeling so I had to pay to go to a gym. Gym was a 20-min walk and 25 gsp per person per day. Bc of this i asked for a comp so they claimed to have 'upgraded' my room. To what? I paid for my two single bed room you put me in. I asked for a view. Negative on that. In fact, they put us right above the remodel of the lobby so at 8am, I hear pounding and drilling noises. Walls are thin and was able to hear crying baby two nights in a row. Bar was happenin' and drinks are good, but it takes 20 min to order and 20 min to get your cocktail. We went three nights in a row and in terms of service, the first night was fine. Second night ok. Third night horrible. We didn't come back on our last night. The hotel and room itself was fine. I just the services were lacking. Room is spacious for two. Bathrooms not big but better than most bathrooms Im use to traveling internationally. Front desk was nice and concierge helpful when we asked questions. Amenities were lacking though.... Some helpful hints: Keys must be plugged into unit at wall in order for sockets and lights to work in the room; no one told us that. If you ask for no cleaning via door sign, they clean anyway. Happened two of four nights we stayed there. Hotel is very safe. In order to use elevator you have to use your room key. Room is dark. Open curtains as it's still dark with all the lights on. Not sure how AC works so we just left window open. Was nice most days here in May but with the remodel we had to close at times and room was hot. read more

We had a wonderful stay here recently and had no issues whatsoever. We were in London for our honeymoon and stayed here for a few days. The staff we've encountered throughout our stay have all been great! They had surprised us after leaving shortly after checking in with a dessert and champagne bottle complimentary. The hotel itself is very clean with some chic styling. It does certainly look smaller than it is from the outside, and also looks better inside than out. We stayed in a standard room and it was plenty big for us 2 with our 3 pieces of luggage. The bathroom had a tub, although which we didn't use, looked clearly big enough to comfortably use. Of course this along with a shower. The A/C worked great. The bed itself was comfy with not complaints from either of us. There is a 40ish inch flat panel TV, but why would we stay in the room to use it? Internet is complimentary, and it worked, but could have worked better, but for basic usage it does/did the job. There is also a fitness center not limited to just cardio machines, but actual weights are available for use. Now breakfast is included and it is above the average compared to other free affairs. The have several different types of pastries, omelettes cooked to order, eggs cooked to order, crepes, sausages, bacons, cereal, English breakfast with those marmalades, and thin cuts of fish/meat, etc. there were croissants, GLUTEN FREE BREADS, coffee, tea, etc (NO SODA--at least not free--which seems common in Europe), basically something for everybody. We almost feel bad for missing the last day because we had to leave early to get to the airport. Location is great too! Being sooooooo close to Great Portland station, it was absolutely no problem exploring London through this part. Surroundings were also very safe and had no problems walking here during any part of the day/night. It is also walking distance to OXFORD Street shopping. Overall I would not hesitate to stay here again. London is a beautiful place and Melia White House helped us experience that. read more

A bit disappointed coming back to my room tonight to find these dirty sheets on my bed...upon my arrival, the room looked spotless and the bed was made. However, once the quilt was removed, discovering this repulsive mess was not how I wanted to end my evening in London. The overall stay at the hotel had been fine up until this moment. When I called housekeeping, they were extremely apologetic and said they'd swap the sheets ASAP. After 30 minutes of waiting, I called again for an ETA. They said they were investigating the problem. Ended up sleeping on the floor. Not great for someone with a history of back and neck injuries. Seriously disgusted. Would not recommend if you are looking for a clean bed. read more

If you like things like modern bathrooms, tempurpedic mattresses, feather pillows, an extensive tv channel selection with on demand movies, consistent service, and friendly hotel guests - - then this isn't the place for you. This hotel is managed by a Spanish company and so be prepared for an onslaught of Spanish hotel guests. There were a lot of tour groups staying here with busses pulling up or leaving every other day. The bath/showers were old school European meaning it's a bathtub raised off the floor with a glass semi door/barrier that swings out and offers no safety from falling. The bathroom fixtures were old and had crudge on the spout. One bath towel and one hand towel per guest, I know because I asked for an extra one and had to explain it was for my hair. They looked at me weird and gave me one begrudgingly. Tv only had news channels and those that worked were in English Spanish Russian German and Chinese. Everything was just very dated. I don't fault the people that work here because they did try to accommodate us when we needed to switch rooms. The elevator was working and there are 4 so you aren't waiting long. The rooms have air conditioning which is good and the windows open as well. They provide you with slippers and bath lotions and gels from Loewe which is nice. I just wouldn't stay here again because it's just not kept up to date and there are other options for this price and location. read more

Cleaning staff enters your room regardless of do not disturb signs or conversations with staff members. Still under a remodeling process that they didn't warn visitors about. Lovely hotel, very traditional style and very opulent! Weirdest lift ever. You have to key in the floor outside in the lift lobby before getting in the lift, otherwise you are stuck. Nice big TV, rooms have baths as well as showers, minibar, tea and coffee. read more

I usually dont spend any time in the hotel besides sleeping and showering when im out travelling,so this was little over what i would use to spend on a hotel,but its perfect for a first time traveller to London.Location,location,location!! Its perfect if you`re going to se the attractions and shopping.The Great Portland Street Station tube is 2 min walk and from there you can go to all the big attractions. Its walking distance to oxford street (10-15min) and the madamme tussauds (15min). The hotelrooms have good beds,tv,hairdryer and the interior is modern and beautiful.It also has a bar and two restaurants.Cabs are right outside the door.The staff are very helpful.The breakfast was good,but they had problems with seating.They should big a bigger breakfast area.I can also recommmed it to spansh speaking people.The menus are all in spanish and alot of the staff is spanish speaking.It would also be good for handicapped people. I had booked our trip through European Destinations, so we did not actually pick this hotel, as they picked for us. This is a great location, located in Regents Park area, and it was close to a couple tube stations and a Tesco. Hotel was clean, it had a restaurant located inside the and a hotel bar and a gym. We arrived from our 12 hour journey around 11:30 am, and we attempted to check in early, the only way that we could check in early was if we decided to upgrade (for another $150/night) how convinient. We were supposed to have a room with two beds but ended up with a king size (good think I like my friend). The room was tiny, literally fit the bed and a useless desk. Two people could not walk next to each other in the room, we had to squeeze up against the wall to let the other person pass. The coffee maker was in the closet, and they charged you if you wanted to use the fridge in the room. What was nice about the room was they had a US plug in the wall, so no need for a converter and adaptor. My major issue with this place was, the first night I showered, the tub filled with standing water up to my ankles. This is one of my biggest pet peeves. It gives me the heeby jeebies to be standing in dirty bath water. I notified the front desk and they assured me it would be taken care of, A full day went by and nothing was fixed, fast forward 4 days and me telling the front desk EVERYDAY. On our last night there at 11PM they sent someone to our room with Drano. Really? First of all 11PM is unacceptable to be sending someone into a room, and Drano isn't going to be fixing standing water. I'm not even a maintenance man and I know this! They didn't offer any kind of apology. I don't think I would use this hotel chain if I had the option to choose. read more

Outstanding location, property, service, and amenities. When my colleagues and I walked into the lobby, I was flabbergasted by the décor - marble, brass, uniformed personnel - I felt underdressed in my travel clothes as I thought I should have been dressed in a tuxedo! The rooms are a bit small compared to American standards, but with European standards and elegance and class. Much like the lobby, the room is elegantly furnished and the décor unbelievable - marble in the bathroom (so be careful because the floor gets slippery when wet), firm bedding, iron and board in the room, small safe. The international staff (fluent in many languages) is outstanding - from the doormen opening the doors, concierges (Mark Kris was especially outstanding in his helpfulness and knowledge), to the wait staff in the dining room for breakfast and bar. PLUSSES - too many to list, but in no particular order: - Staff - property is impeccable, but the staff makes it an even better stay; unfailingly proper, courteous, professional, and efficient; - Gym - clean, has all the items I need: dumb bells (2kg (5lbs) to 22.5kg (~50lbs)); Life Cycle threadmills (3), Elliptical (1); recumbent and spinning bike; rowing machine; benches - the only thing missing is a pull down machine/pull up bar. - Location - within minutes to two Tube Stations (different lines); close to many great pubs, walking distance to many of London's spots; - Breakfast - a great selection to include a gentleman making omelets to order. He stated that he uses from 500 to 700 eggs a day! Be aware, if you step away from your table to get more food, when you return, your plate and silverware may be cleaned up - when its busy, the quick and efficient staff quickly clean up your table for the next person; - Plugs - next to the small desk in your room, there are three outlets - (1) 220v UK (three prong); (2) 220v German (two prong); (3) 110v US outlet. So you will require an adapter/converter for UK to US plugs, but there is one 110v US outlet. MINUSES: - The only issue I had was with WIFI - my room was at the end of the hall so I had minimal WIFI. Not a problem, I just walked closer to the center of the property, close to the elevator where there was a table and chair where I could access the WIFI - No radio clock - when you call for a "wake up call," instead of the typical telephone call, you will receive a personalized ring at your room (door bell) - Based on my stay here, all other properties will be sorely lacking As with typical European properties, you need to insert your room key (card) into a slot when you enter the room to activate the electricity in the room - note, the AC will not work without the key. The fan control for the AC is located next to the bed. When you call the elevators, you have to identify your floor on a console - the console will then identify elevator A, B, C, or D that will stop at the floor. There are no floor buttons in the elevators. So, if in London and location is not too much of a factor, Melia White House is a great property. Located right next to Regent's Park (great for a three mile loop if following the outer loop - be careful because traffic is the opposite to the states. Before crossing a street, you will see writing on the road stating, "LOOK RIGHT." London drivers are not too "user friendly," cabs seem not to know where the brakes are located.) So, Melia White House - yes, great place to stay. read more

I'm going to preface this review with being very open about the fact that I'm American. If you're an American looking to vacation in London I suspect you will likely find this much more useful than your average European since Americans and Europeans tend to look for different things in their hotels/accommodations. Disclaimer. Check. Now onto the reviewing... The location was actually very convenient as it was situated next to Regent's Park and very near Oxford Street & Piccadilly Circus. There were also a few underground stations nearby and an original tour bus line stop right outside the hotel. Generally the hotel was very clean and nicely decorated but considering the cost, I would expect nothing less. We opted out of the breakfast offer so I can't really say much about that other than comments I found on trip advisor weren't the most positive. The staff in the bar/restaurant downstairs were incredibly helpful, polite, and provided wonderful service as did the person at the concierge desk. Dealing with the front desk, however, was a challenge as, even as a person who was once an aspiring linguist, I had trouble with them understanding my American accent and me understanding their Italian(?). Either way, the hotel was nice but the rooms were MUCH tinier than expected (and yes, I expected small rooms). I really don't know how they fit the oversized desk in there with the two twin beds but it didn't leave much room for our 2 suitcases (and as international travelers who were on the continent for about 2 weeks, we each had 1 decent but not oversized suitcase). Was also shocked by the fact that there was a steep fee for using their tiny mini-fridge.... even to store items you purchased yourself. I can't remember what it was exactly.... I think it was definitely above £10 but less than £20 a day which seemed ridiculously overpriced for a fridge that could have fit in my carry-on suitcase. All in all, the hotel was all right though I wasn't so overly impressed that I would opt to stay here on any future trips. My main gripes are mostly the room size / poor use of the small space, odd fees, and the difficulties I had with the front desk. This is a very nice hotel located near the center of London. The tube station is only a block away, and public transportation in London is outstanding. If you stick to Marriott or Hyatt properties you might miss this gem. The rooms are very nice, service is superb, and the breakfast buffet is outstanding. There are several pubs within a short walking distance (although I think the same can be said about any hotel in London :) so finding a nice place for dinner without needing a cab is not hard. I've stayed here twice, and if I return to London I'll definitely be staying here again if I can. read more

Stay was 7 days. First thought: why are there steps leading from the entrance to the reception when everyone traveling through will have luggage? Breakfast: First day of breakfast was chaotic. The staff were uncoordinated, there seemed to be little communication amongst them, and little desire to help each other out. Of the 7 days, only on one of those days was my coffee ever refilled without my prompting (tiny cup, few people, idle staff). I'm also curious as to why the staff almost always fill the coffee only 3/5 of the way full - one or two gulps and it's gone. The coffee itself is not very strong, so drink a lot of it! Room I liked the room, except, as others have mentioned, the lack of proper lighting. At night, it's rather dark even with all the lights on. read more

My husband and I booked this hotel through AAA as part of our honeymoon trip. It was on the pricier side, but we figured, what the heck, its our honeymoon. Plus, its right next to a tube station, a bus station, a big and fancy park, and you get free breakfast. All of the people working here were nice and helpful (especially those at the front desk and concierge) , and that is why I'm rating this as three stars instead of one or two. The hotel looks very nice, but my husband and I were the least swanky people we saw. We were wearing jeans and t-shirts and everyone else wore fancy dresses and suits, so we felt kinda out of place here. Our room was also nice looking, but everything seemed dusty (I couldn't stop sneezing). It's also very dim, there's not a lot of lights, and what few lights they have are not bright. My last complaint is the bed. I don't like that there are no sheets and only a comforter, but the mattress itself is one of the most uncomfortable I think I've ever slept on. Both my husband's and my backs are sore and we've slept here for only three days. I would recommend trying a different hotel, unless you like staying at fancy, uncomfortable ones. read more

If zero stars were an option I'd select that for this awful place. It looks super fancy when you walk in but from the moment you check in, it's all downhill from there. We had booked one night here months ago through Travelocity, so we were all prepaid. You'd think that would make the check in process a breeze. The receptionist was so cold and unfriendly. He asked us questions like "you need a room for one night?" "what size bed?" and "did you want to add breakfast?" all of which were clearly answered/stated in my booking printout I had presented to him. He asked if we were British then he went silent for about 5 minutes while clicking around on his computer when we said we were visiting from Chicago. He finally handed us room keycards. Never told us check out time, never explained where to go, didn't mention any of the hotel amenities. He clearly had no concept of customer service. I wonder what sort of treatment he'd give a British guest. After struggling with our bags up to the top floor without any help offered, it was disappointment after disappointment. The air conditioning didn't work. Room smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Half the outlets didn't work. The bed was as hard as a rock. I had requested extra pillows and those weren't there. Both side tables were coming off the wall and slanted so you couldn't confidently place anything on them without them sliding off. No toiletries were in the tiny bathroom whatsoever. No shampoo or soap. The towel holder fell out of the wall. Towel heater didn't work. TV channels didn't come in and were scrambled. As if all that wasn't enough disappointment, this was the one morning we had to sleep in and we were rudely woken by several different staff knocking on our door asking if they could check our drink and bar supply! Wtf!! We were so livid at this point we told them instead of waking up guests, they should do their job correctly and stock the supplies when guests checkout. We reiterated that our bathroom was missing all of its supplies when we checked in. Upon checking out, we recapped to the receptionist how awful our experience was and she thanked us for our feedback. Unreal. This really made us think differently about London. That's for sure. The hotel is fine but the bar probably had the worst service I frankly have ever experienced. My wife and I came to the bar for 2 nights and although not very busy it took 20 minutes to make 2 drinks both nights while other patrons who came in well after us were served beer on tap. Three other patrons were served mixed drinks when the went to the manager Steve Zeyznec The manager continued to talk to patrons around the bar filling drink orders while we sat both nights. It was unclear who operated as a bartender and we were only served when we politely mentioned several times where the drinks were. The manager claimed they were short staffed and this was the problem which clearly wasn't the case since he served 3 other patrons while we waited patiently. read more

First off, I am an American, so if you are an American looking for a review, this one might be helpful, I know European and American standards are different for hotels and such. It is Spanish run, and smells like man cologne when you walk in. Very clean, nice staff, but we had a bad run in with the room, of which the vent needed to be cleaned and eventually, we moved to a new room. Would have appreciated an upgrade, but this is London, not the states. Very close to bus stop and walking distance to many eateries and such. Food is overpriced, for portions, you could go out in town and get more for your money...although the shower is nice a hot, clean bathroom, just a small room for 2 people, but as an American, everything in Europe is smaller than the states. Overall it was a good stay, but I would stay somewhere else next time. read more

Again another 4-5 start hotel in name only.. Room was worn out, WiFi was spotty at best.. But the worst was the Bed. HARD AS A ROCK and springs poked you in the back. Complained and they tried to fix it with a topper and told us our room wasnt one of the ones with a "new" bed and they were booked up and couldn't do anything with it. Location though was fantastic and being next to the Great Portland Station made access to the tube easy. That said access to the Tube is great no matter where you are as that is a given in London, so find another hotel. For the price it is overrated, and nothing more than a cheap hotel in 1980s 5 star clothing. Think of this as a worn out 1980s Ferrari, it was 5 star at one time, and cost a lot. But its way past its prime and way out of date. read more

The room they have advertised on Booking.com is not the room given. It was completely misrepresented. Even the hotel staff onsite agreed. When this was disputed, showing proof, the hotel "agreed" to refund 3/4 nights. Taking the 4th night as a fee though we did not stay at the hotel at all. Not to mention this hotel is very old and dirty. The rooms smell like mold and aren't even big enough to unfold a suitcase. Don't spend your money here. read more
