Not all whites are the same... Dr. Singer was not only the much-needed aesthetic-perfectionist-prosthodontist that I needed, but also a phenomenal "General Contractor" of my entire dental makeover plan. (He oversaw the work of my general dentist and periodotist.) My entire journey was about two years long, during which time my trips to Bernardo Center Dentistry were a delight. Pure prostodontists, NOT cosmetic dentists are hard to find. I am so glad he is here surving the greater San Diego area. I noticed a review of teeth not being white and want to address that directly from 40 years of experience with 4 different iterations of my teeth. There is much to consider when adding artificial teeth to existing teeth. Depth, opacity, shape, indentations, angle, and more can all affect the LOOK of teeth in natural lighting, fluorescent/LED lighting, shade, stage lights, and more. The only way to get a completely NATURAL and BEAUTIFUL look is to have teeth that have a uniform appearance with EXISTING teeth. The mistake so many dentists make is creating teeth that do not look consistent when moving from natural to artificial. In this, Dr. Singer's skill is UNMATCHED. I poured through the before/after photos at his office before making the decision to go with him. I lived with the dental drama from a childhood bike accident for 40 years. I don't think about it any more. You would NEVER know anything happened because of Dr. Singer's work. I could not be more pleased. He is the BEST. You can pay for an inexpensive "Cadillac Smile" from a cosmetic dentist, but if you want a "Mercedes Smile", find a prosthedontist who really knows what they are doing. I was referred to Dr Singer for an implant screw that broke. He was able to remove the screw without too much effort. Considering not every dentist wants to deal with broken screws; I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised at his abilities. His staff is friendly and welcoming. I needed an upper partial denture and 2 crowns in my mouth. My regular dentist said she could not do this but there was a much younger dentist in the office who was familiar with partial dentures and the work that Dr. Michael Singer does. They sent me to his office. I just finished with all of the dental work, and I am completely pleased with how it turned out. Dr. Singer is probably a perfectionist which means that your dental work will come out great. I went back to his office with my upper partial denture with no rubbings or pinchings. Be careful of these people. They intentionally mislead you into thinking that they are in network for your dental insurance when they are not. They ask that you pay the entire charge upfront and then you are basically out of luck when your dental insurance hardly pays anything because they are not in network. Also, I have never seen a dental office where only one person can schedule an appointment. read more

They take expensive patients only! I contacted Bernardo Center for Dentistry and was turned away via phone. I needed two teeth looked at, one to get fitted for a crown and one to consult to fix or redo an existing one. The front desk receptionist Andrea was nice, respectful and had a sweet tone. She discussed having me in on March 9 at 9am and quoted me $2,400. Before we ended the call, I provided the doctor's name I was requesting. She said he doesn't do crowns anymore. So I was to see Dr. Singer. She was nice enough to inquire about it and see if he would make an exception. When she called back she said, I was not able to request that doctor. So I assumed I would see the doctor she was originally making me an appt for and I asked to set it up and add the need for the second crown. Now she is telling me a different story - I can't see the other doctor either. What? What just happened? Why? We had a tentative appt set, why would that change all of a sudden. She said, "We are a prosthodontist office and you don't need us. You need just a general dentist." I understood and said, "I still would like to see the best and was referred to them by my Endodontist." She stated that they aren't open or willing to do single crowns and they only will take patients that need more work done. I am frustrated because why have that full phone call and appt set up for my tooth when he won't take patients unless they are expensive patients. I dodged a bullet. Thank you for turning me away. My wife and I have both been patients in Dr. Carpenter's office for many years and would not go anywhere else. The office is clean and modern, and the staff are friendly and experienced. My wife and I each have a long history of difficult dental work and bad dentist experiences, and have both had just about every kind of dental work you could think of. I have had no problems with any of the work that Dr. Carpenter's office has done. The quality is impeccable. For example, over 10 years ago my wife needed to have a front crown from another dentist replaced because it looked so unnatural. The replacement made by Dr. Carpenter's office was truly a work of art - perfectly matched to her other teeth, and it still looks great today after all these years. Very expensive and unhelpful dentist. Had some bonding replaced on a front tooth which was originally done 20 years ago. Did not match the length of my other tooth so I asked for it to be fixed and more bonding was added but at a very high cost. It chipped twice in a six month period. Went back to have it fixed and was greeted with "Well, what do you want me to do about it". (Very unprofessional) Left extremely unsatisfied. Only option was a crown costing over $2000, most of which is out of pocket since they no longer accept my insurance. read more

I have always been very particular about my teeth. Forced to wear full dentures from a very young age, I have had lower implants for many years. Dr. Carpenter made a replacement lower bridge and a new full set of top teeth that are drop-dead beautiful. He takes a tremendous amount of care to ensure that the teeth not only look beautiful, but that the fit is perfect and fantastic. I had to travel from Riverside County to Rancho Bernardo to have him make my new teeth, but he is worth every mile. Dr. Carpenter is the best dentist I have ever had in my 77 years. He was referred to me by another dentist in Rancho Bernardo who after reviewing everything that needed to be done said I was a much more difficult job than he would want to do. He said "there is only one dentist in his opinion who could tackle this, 'that man was Dr. R. Carpenter" whose office was in Rancho Bernardo. As I needed 6 implants each one involving extensive bone and tissue replacement Dr. Carpenter referred me to a surgeon whose job was strictly implants and getting the bone in good shape for the new teeth. They worked very closely coordinating every step of the dental procedures I was about to embark on. Today I have a complete mouth full of new teeth, all permanently in place, and I am very happy with the final result. Recently my dentist retired. a friend recommended this office. I have had my teeth clean several times then I was told I needed two implants. After the cleaning I was told to stay in my chair and Dr. Carpenter would be right in to explain everything. I waited 35 minutes, and when he didn't show up I started to walk out. He immediately came I needed 2 implants. I made an appointment and never was told of the cost, what to expect etc. I wrote a letter to him and his staff a couple of months later and apparently he sent a letter to my summer address about the cost, even though I asked in the letter he send it to my winter home. When I called the office to see what to expect with the procedure,. I was immediately transferred to Dr. Carpenter. It was then he told me the price was sent to the wrong address. He then said another doctor in his office would be doing the operation and he would have him call me that afternoon to explain costs, proceedures etc. I never heard from the other doctor. This is a follow-up After choosing another dentist to do my implants, the new dentist's office called to have my X-xrays transferred to their office. Upon meeting with the new dentist, he seemed confused as to what I said was wrong and what the X-rays showed. Soon he discovered they had sent the new doctor someone else's X-rays, and consequently I had to wait to have the correct set of X-rays sent to the new dentist's office. read more
