On another recent trip from our home in Nashville Tennessee to London on 10/15/25 we were delighted to have a chance to visit Berners for our third time and have never been disappointed and actually always wowed but this last visit exceeded even the others.Why? Well, for starters we always sit at the bar and marvel at the pretty view and receive fabulous service, this time we had the extra pleasure of Anuj's (ADeokante) five star service!WOW what a shining star he is to this establishment!I hope y'all know what a treasured employee you have in him.His bar skills are top notch to be certain, in addition his professionalism,care to EVERY detail, his care about our experience and ensuring it was outstanding, along with his wonderful warm engaging personality which added to our experience, just so welcoming! He gave excellent service,in this day it can be the rare exception to receive such so we were incredibly impressed and grateful to experience. We asked about Indian fare tips and he gave a great suggestion we took him up on. Our food (DELICIOUS) and cocktails (DIVINE) at Berners were once again enjoyed in one of if not the most stunning restaurants in London. Thank you Berners for being a stand out and for a lovely evening out and memory made,we can't to return as y'all are our favorite spot when in London. Very good place for both breakfast or dinner. I had a solo breakfast and loved my truffle scrambled eggs. And then the dinner was a group dinner for 12 of us and it was very good overall. Small details were missed. I don't know how you don't have any menu to go with a group dinner. Guests want to know what they are eating esp if it's family style. I had to ask for them for the table, which should have been a given. The food was very well portioned, we had PLENTY for our dinner. It was a lovely evening and one where next time in London I would to come back to this super moody and cozy spot. read more

Come for the ambiance, stay for the food. I came here with a large group of people for a corporate event, and everyone had great things to say about the experience. First, the space is very ornate and classy, with thoughtful decor that captures your attention as soon as you enter. The service was generally good, though certain drink orders took a very long time, and it also took a while for us to get more water. Whenever napkins were left on the table, even if we were sitting there, someone would grab them and fold them neatly, which I thought was a nice touch. Now, the food and drinks. We had a prix fixe menu. I really enjoyed the shrimp salad as a starter and the bread was fine. Of the main dishes, I liked the beef pasta and the cauliflower the best. The steak was okay, the potatos were nice too. The fish didn't have as much flavor/seasoning as I had hoped. The ice cream was okay, but I didn't love it. I did enjoy my espresso martini to cap it off! Overall, if you're looking for upscale dining, with an upscale vibe and upscale price, this is a good spot for you. read more

What an awful experience! Ordered the signature cote de beef and it was inedible! Every bite had a massive piece of sinewy gristle that I could not even eat it. This place said it serves the best beef, you'd get a better steak at Angus and save 500 quid! Sent half the steak back and told the server to tell the chef to try it and see for himself. Also ordered a dirty martini that came and tasted like it had no olive juice in it. Cannot believe this place has a Michelin star. Now I question if Michelin knows what they are doing! read more

Impressive meal in an impressive tavern in London! One of my colleagues in our London office planned a dinner for us while on business in September and he is quite the foody and this was a great example of how he didn't steer us wrong! Berners is not the typical 'tavern' as it is a much higher class version of one. Artwork covers all of the available wall space much like you see in old movies where they have a drawing room. The restaurant has high ceilings and feels very elegant though maybe a bit louder than I would have liked it to be. Service was excellent and we had a number of servers helping us throughout the evening as well as a sommelier. The wine was hit and miss. The first bottle was okay, but then we tried another and it was really good. The salad I had and the macaroni and cheese I ordered were both sensational. I suppose the idea is that it's upscale pub food and they pull it off very well! I have no idea what the prices are since it was a business dinner and I didn't really look, but I imagine it's pretty pricey. Not sure how touristy this, but if I was British, I'd take people here to show off how great dining in London can be! read more

Every meal was delicious with impeccable service. We enjoyed breakfast daily and were pleased with every dish. The dinner menu was excellent with beautiful presentation. Berners Tavern is attached to the London Edition hotel, just north of Oxford Street. If you are in the area, fancy yourself as fancy, and are in London, you must visit Berners. The London Edition is a very swanky place. Berners is no different. It is a well dressed, well kept crowd. The food is spectacular, the service is very good, and the decor is very ornate. Okay, you're in Europe, so don't expect super fast or responsive service, but it's good for Europe. I had the mushroom soup and the Lamb chops. Both were spectacular. The mushroom soup comes out with just the mushroom and a soft cooked egg. They then pour the broth in the bowl. Nice show. And it's also accompanied by mushroom toast...whatever that is, but it was good. The lamb chops were spectacular. Must be a lot of sheep in the neighborhood! Try this place. Get a gin and tonic and relax with the swanky people. read more

We came here for a work dinner and I found the food to be quite good with a very elegant decor. The only downside was that we found service a bit slow, especially as we tried to order drinks. But the food was tasty. I started with the hot smoked salmon. It was a bit pricey for an appetizer but so worth it as there was a ton of salmon and it was excellently prepared. The color was beautiful and the flavour was excellent - it somehow let shine both the salmon itself as well as the rest of the plate. Probably best to split this between two people to manage the cost, but I would definitely get this again. For my entree I got the pork chop with chimichurri. It was also well cooked and the flavour was excellent. I'm not sure I would get this again though was there was a lot more fat than I might've expected for such a cut, but was able to cut around a decent amount of the fat. A couple colleagues also got the mac and cheese which caused a bit of food envy, especially topped with braised beef. A massive amount of food though. Would return for a special occasion given the pretty, golden interior, quality of the food, offset by the price. read more

I wish the service was as good as the food. The sommelier was so rude and yelled at his fellow staff after we ordered wine. Every time we requested something, our waiter would gather the managers while they would point at us. Our poor waiter didn't even do anything wrong, but the managers yelled at him every time and it was right in front of us. I wouldn't recommend this place solely based on the rude staff. read more

Very impressive decor inside. We were very excited for our lunch at Berners Tavern and booked it well in advance to ensure we would get a chance to visit. We went with the set menu for lunch. The risotto with cauliflower cheese croquette came highly recommended so I decided to order that, my boyfriend had the steak. The croquette on top of my meal was delicious but the risotto was cold. I mentioned this to the waitress, once we finally got their attention, and she said she'd talk to the chef. Nothing seemed to come of that. We ordered dessert, which was delicious, probably the highlight of our visit. For such a nice establishment, I would expect much better customer service, considering I pretty much sent my entire meal back in full. Received the bill and we were charged for everything, I would have expected a least a drink comped considering my meal was cold and I didn't eat it, however I guess they did not care. Very taken aback that they do not seem to care about customer service. read more

For the price you pay. I expected a lot better and a big better portion. The risotto was slightly undercooked, the cod was slightly over and so was the lamb neck. Not it did not worth the £50 charged per person. Or around £25-30 for a main. If it was £15-20 for a main I would have been less annoyed. read more

What to do when you have an 8 hour layover at Heathrow airport? Make your way to a delicious meal, of course! Since there were no reservations available we had to walk in at 6pm right when they opened and snag a seat. Overall it was a great meal, but not a 5-star-blow-my-mind meal. Although I think the bar might have a separate yelp page and I would give the bar 5 stars. Great drinks and a very friendly bartender! We got the crispy pig head appetizer and though it had a lot of interesting flavors it isn't something I would order again. Also, the rotisserie chicken was rather dry for being so pricy and lacked any real flavor. Where the restaurant did shine, though, was the steak, the sauces (both the coq au vin for the chicken and the peppercorn for the steak), the massive french fries (more like golden delicious potato wedges), and the wine list! a 40 dollar bottle of stunning bordeaux? Don't mind if I do... drink that whole bottle right before my flight. All in all a worthwhile experience filled with good food and good service--1.5 hours well spent to end our layover in London. read more

I recently visited for a work dinner. As there was a large group of us and it was a late booking, we were put in the upstairs private dining room with a set menu - good in a sense but we felt a bit let down that we weren't able to eat in the gorgeous main room. I will preface by saying that when the food came it was in good time and absolutely delicious, however before this, we were probably sat down for at least an hour before any food orders were even taken. Maybe 40-45 mins before drink orders as well. There was no bread on the table until 5 minutes before starters were served, so we were absolutely ravenous by this point. We also ended up having to serve our own wine a few times as the waiting staff were nowhere to be seen for a lot of the time before the food was served. A few of us had some changes to the set menu and they were very accommodating to this. The food was also to a very high standard and I was highly impressed with what we had. The focaccia starter (I had mine without tomatoes) was delicious but a large portion. The steaks were very good, and the mac and cheese with braised beef was one of the best meals I've tried in a long time. Very rich and decadent, and also a very large portion, so atleast the cost is reflected in the size. The desserts were beautiful and I was impressed with the taste there too. As well as wine we ordered a round of cocktails. I was appreciative that we were given recommendations on these by the serving staff, however I was less appreciative when my choices were questioned. I'd initially picked a special cocktail and was told I shouldn't have it as it was 'too sweet'. I love sweet drinks and told him as much, but he told me I shouldn't have it unless it was with dessert and picked me out another one. This isn't the worst thing ever, but i do feel like he could've respected the fact that I said I like a sweet drink instead of insisting it wasn't right for me. I would love to give Berners Tavern a five but these little things just impacted my experience. I'd like to go in a different circumstance and see if the service is better, as I think otherwise it was fantastic. I landed in London and was extremely exhausted from the flight. I just wanted to sleep. I checked into my hotel at the London Edition (which I absolutely love love love!), and was feeling peckish and wanted to pass out. The staff recommended their restaurant Berners Tavern for lunch, which is under the guidance of Michelin Starred chef Jason Atherton. They made reservations for me and I went to take a long nap in my most comfortable bed ever (the bed reminds me of the Four Seasons). Upon arrival, the restaurant was packed. It looked like this is a common place for people to have lunch meetings. The décor is classic, like an old library with a bit of sophistication put to it. Photographs with beautiful frames line each wall with a beautiful chandelier set in the middle of the space.  The chairs were so comfortable. I wanted to order something small cause I knew I would be splurging and gorging on food later that evening at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. This is what I got: TRADITIONAL BRITISH PORK PIE SERVED TABLE SIDE (£17.00): English Piccalilli, Pickled Vegetables, Mustard. This was just ok for me. I prefer a flaky crust. I thought it was going to be warm, but it was cold. It was more like a thick pate. The pickled vegetables were good to cut through the fat. I got a bit of all the mustards. The traditional dijon was my favorite.  TRIPLE COOKED CHIPS (£5.00): I was quite disappointed with my chips. They weren't anything like Heston Blumenthal's triple cooked chips. They were a tad bit soggy.  COFFEE: It was delicious and creamy. I would order it again.  MY FAVORITE DISH. CHOCOLATE AND HAZELNUT FLAMNG ALASKA, SPECULOOS, AND COFFEE CRUMBLE, HAZELNUT CUSTARD (£18.00). This dish is freakin amazing. It totally made my lunch that much better. It arrives plain and then they add an alcohol and light it on fire and pour it over the ice cream and whipped cream. It starts to flame and it brulee's the top part of the baked alaska.  Overall, Berner's Tavern was good but not amazing. It took awhile for the staff to take my order. I almost felt they ignored me since I was dining solo. The food was good, but I think I expected much more. The saving grace was the baked alaska. It was one of the best baked alaska's I've had in a really long time. Sure it's boozy, but that's the fun of it. I loved that it was also conveniently located within my hotel. Would I come back? Possibly, but I would order something else other than the pie. read more

This is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've been to. The ceilings are so high and intricate. They have a beautiful collection of art on the walls and the whole vibe is elegant and grand without being overly stuffy. The food was also quite good, thankfully. I had the prawn cocktail and lamb rump and both were delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the flaming Alaska , though I appreciated the presentation. The service was fantastic and the evening was really fun. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in London. read more

All I can say is, "Wow!" During my holiday visit to London, I decided on Berner's Tavern for my Christmas Day meal. And I was pleasantly surprised with the level of care and attention that went into every aspect of my meal. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by a friendly staff, who were easy to chat with and happy to indulge my in a bit of conversation before and after the meal. An army of servers ensured I was happy and well-fed, and the kitchen staff did a bang up job of preparing every one of my dishes with love. Not a single plate went back with any trace of my meal. I gobbled up every single morsel throughout the meal and would've happily unbuckled my belt and enjoyed 4 or 5 more courses. If you're in the area and looking for a complete and memorable dining experience, I can't recommend Berner's Tavern enough. From the freshly baked bread to the well-crafted desserts, I'm sure it will be easy for you to fall in love with it; much like I did. read more

Arguably the best Mac and cheese London has to offer. Four different cheeses, artfully blended to perfection and mixed with well cooked macaroni! I opted for the braised beef atop my Mac and it was delightful! If you're hungrier, I'd recommend you get the bbq pork chop as well. My oh my, every morsel was tasty AF and I ensured that I Sackitey every bite until the very end. I can't over emphasize the joy this place filled me with. It's seriously worth the visit and I'd encourage everyone to try it out! And seriously, don't forget to get the Mac and cheese when you visit!!!!! read more

Located inside the fashionable and retro-modern The London EDITION in Fitzrovia, Berner's Tavern is an architectural masterpiece, absolutely stunning in appearance. Walking into Berner's is like walking into a 17th century European salon-style gallery, with paintings hung floor-to-ceiling and on every available inch of space on the walls. I have to say, it's quite breathtaking. We didn't come to eat but rather just to enjoy a drink at the bar and take in the scenery. The cocktails here are quite unusual, and while they won't suit everyone's tastes, they will certainly introduce you to something new. First, we had a Late British Shake Off (£13.50) -- a combination of gin, elderflower liqueur, Kamm & Sons (ginseng liqueur), lemon, dandelion & burdoch bitters and "Union Jack." It came in a mini cocktail shaker with a straw and a British flag. Though a little hard to drink, it was a unique and refreshing drink. Then we had just a standard Pint of Beer (£6.50), which came in a heavy pewter mug. The food is by Michelin-starred chef Jason Atherton and looks quite promising.
