Just excellent. The food, cocktails, and ambience are amazing at this spot. Really enjoyed the ceremony and also how delicious the pork pie was. Schnitzel was delicious as well the Mac and cheese was the bomb. So rich and delicious. Service was excellent and matched the opulence of the spot. Really great.

The food was delicious;we had the best fish and chips ever,it was crispy also the fat fries were also good. The servers were very nice and attentive. They served the food at an appropriate pace and did not rush us.The environment was friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and comfortable. It had paintings and a sculpted ceiling, plus two chandeliers that were the main source of light. Candles were also lighting the room. The tables were neat and clean. It was an overall great experience. The End

The food is as good and the place is as gorgeous. The Mac and cheese with beef on top was like the greatest Mac and cheese I've ever had. The shrimp cocktail was unique and different but so so tasty I had a latte and great sourdough bread and I loved every bite!

The food is as good as ever at Berners Tavern, but the service was a bit of a disaster. They did not clear plates and glasses or pour the wine, just not very professional. The room is of course very impressive and a highlight. I'm hoping that it was just an off night and that the service will not be so bad in the future.

Impressive meal in an impressive tavern in London! One of my colleagues in our London office planned a dinner for us while on business in September and he is quite the foody and this was a great example of how he didn't steer us wrong! Berners is not the typical 'tavern' as it is a much higher class version of one. Artwork covers all of the available wall space much like you see in old movies where they have a drawing room. The restaurant has high ceilings and feels very elegant though maybe a bit louder than I would have liked it to be. Service was excellent and we had a number of servers helping us throughout the evening as well as a sommelier. The wine was hit and miss. The first bottle was okay, but then we tried another and it was really good. The salad I had and the macaroni and cheese I ordered were both sensational. I suppose the idea is that it's upscale pub food and they pull it off very well! I have no idea what the prices are since it was a business dinner and I didn't really look, but I imagine it's pretty pricey. Not sure how touristy this, but if I was British, I'd take people here to show off how great dining in London can be!

Met some friends for brunch at this gorgeous spot! So much art, decor and ambiance to enjoy your stay! I wouldn't recommend the fish and chips as it's a little pricey and there's better in other spots!!

Great atmosphere, food and drinks. Found the service to be above average as well regularly. The Alaskan presentation is fantastic.

My wife actually booked dinner reservations in advance for Ye Old Cheshire Cheese, it was one of a few we did that for rather than just popping in. For some of these, Cheshire included, it isn't a bad idea if you want a full meal to do so as it gives you a table in a dining area that is quieter than the More raucous areas of the pub and guarantees you plenty of elbow room to dine. Every pub has fish and chips, and we had our share of it during our 8+ day trek, but my wife swears by this place as having the absolute best. I'd likely agree with that--we both had the traditional fish, chips, peas platter and every bite was great. We had a few slices of sourdough to hold us over while waiting for those plates. My wife had a bit of wine, and I tried a lager, lower ABV ale, and a pour of scotch opting for their "house" scotch. The spirits/beer menu was the same I saw used at a couple of what I think must be "sister" pubs all using the same distilleries and brewers. We were too full to try dessert. Service was friendly. Not sure if it was the vintage of my scotch or her wine, but price-wise this was by far our priciest pub visit in the area and I can't quite point my fingers at why, but I don't regret our meal and time here. As for historic interest, you can find pictures and placards of many of the pubs famous patrons from history--Dickens, Mark Twain on visits to London, etc. A first edition of a Dickens' book adorned a post by our table.

Cool pub dating back to 1300s?…read more Fish and chips were great. Price was okay given its a popular and historic spot. Beer was excellent and prices reasonable Only complaint was the dining area was extremely quiet on a Friday afternoon. A little strange for a pub

The history alone makes it worth visiting, and the location is perfect if you're exploring the area. It feels very classic London in the best way. We stopped in for a pint and honestly... the whole after-work beer culture over there is something I really need to bring back with me to the States. The beer was great, the atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, and it just felt like one of those places where people naturally gather and stay awhile. Definitely worth stopping into if you're in the area.

Two story space - the ground floor feature the bar and handles walk in lunch; the upstairs is a dining room for those with reservations. Fun fact, as part of the history, the pub used to be the host of bare knuckle fights and had regulars like Charles Dickens. Wildfarmed sourdough - served with whipped salted butter and Guinness butter. Well toasted bread and the butters with salt were well made. Fuller's London Pride marinated steak and ale pie - served with seasonal veggies and red wine gravy, as well as either mash potatoes or triple cooked chips. If there is one dish London does really well, it's their pies. It was beautifully made and loaded with steak. The red wine gravy was decadent and added a perfect amount of moisture to the pie. Triple cooked chips were perfectly crispy but fluffy on the inside. Corn fed chicken breast - served with garlic and sage butter, mash potato, cavolo nero, and crispy onions. Only took a bite of this as it was my partner's dish but the bite of chicken I had was very juicy and well seasoned.
