We took our dogs there to go to a funeral. When we dropped them off they were scared, they didn't want to walk and the young girls dragged them back the hall by their leashes. When we picked them up they said they couldn't get the halters on and we asked them how they walked them. They said they just put the leash around their neck. Our one dog was panting and making coughing sounds for an hour after picking them up. This is very disturbing that the young girls didn't know how to put halters on the dogs and to think it was ok to wrap leash around their neck to walk them. Brought puppy for an exam. Vet was incompetent. I had to tell her to check his eyes and ears. No table in the room. Tried to sell me on more vaccines when I clearly brought records of his current vaccines. Called my male a her at least 15 times even after I corrected her. Like really, I'm paying for the vet's professional opinion and she can't even keep straight the sex of the animal! Took puppy out of the room for at least 15 mins. I had no idea what she was doing. Ended up giving me a $40 antibiotic bottle for a 2 lb dog. Just felt like she was trying to keep getting money... read more

just now To me, this place does not even deserve 1 star. 5 months ago we re-homed a sweet lab/shep mix who was only 2 and a half years old. She had been going to this vet since she was 4 months old. She had her yearly check up in August and we decided to drive the 45+ minutes to go to Bernville so that we could get her complete updated history. We had a great vet visit and after lab work and fecal tests were told our Daisy was perfectly healthy. We repeatedly stated we wanted to know her history. Asked if there were any ongoing issues. None we were told. Suddenly a week ago she started getting sick and not eating. A GI bug we thought until it didn't clear up after a day. A week spent doubting ourselves. We took her to the local vet close to home as she was too weak to travel. Imagine our shock at finding out our sweet girl was in complete kidney failure. Imagine our shock even more when they recieved her records from your vet showing she had known kidney issues since the age of 4 mo old. Imagine the pain we felt learning our bestest girl was at 75% kidney failure as a puppy only to have no treatment and nothing disclosed to her new family after repeated requests. Imagine the pain that family felt saying goodbye and watching their girl deteriorate in front of their eyes in a day. I will NEVER recommend this practice to anyone. I will never refer. Never return. The most upsetting fact is after a questioning email this practice didn't even have the dignity to return a an email questioning WHY the information wasn't disclosed. read more

If you live in Berks County look no further for a caring veterinarian. I highly recommend Dr. Stephan and his staff. My dog suffered for over a year with a chronic ear infection. I went to several vets in the area and no one helped. Finally, someone took the time to care enough to help. My dog is finally back to his old self. If I could give more stars I would. read more

On a trip through Pennsylvania with our 17 year old whippet, he took a turn for the worse and we had to find a vet asap. We feel so blessed to have found Bernville Veterinary Clinic. Unfortunately, we had to put our beloved boy to sleep and we could not have found a more compassionate place to go. From the moment we entered the clinic, Linda at the reception desk greeted us warmly and led us to a room. Jackie, the vet tech, had such a sweet, kind demeanor and was very understanding of our pain. Dr. Steve was also kind during this most grief stricken time in our lives. It is the most difficult decision a pet owner has to make and the care and kindness we received made us feel loved. We weren't regular customers and yet they took the time to make sure we were comfortable and made us feel like family. Dr. Steve even sent us a sympathy card with a paw print of our beloved Aubie. We have been coming here for the past 10yrs. Dr. Stephan, Dr. Westfall, and Dr. Troxell are compassionate, kind, and considerate as well as the staff. They were there for us and got us the treatment needed when our one great dane was very sick. They sent us a sympathy card along with a warm thoughtful note when our other great dane passed away.
