ABSOLUTELY a 5-Star restaurant! The quality of the food and staff (Shorbel served us and he was amazing!) is top notch. The top 5 restaurants in Montreal as far as I'm concerned (and I'm difficult to please.)

3.5 stars rating My boyfriend is a huge fan of Syrian food and has been talking about Beroya for quite some time. We finally made it here today. We had the hummus, mouhamara, fatouche, kibbeh mabromeh, Fokker Mozart. To end the meal, we had ghazal al banat which is ice cream with cotton candy. All were generous in portion but the meal didn't stand out for me or keep me wanting more. A huge turnoff, they put so much molasses on the mouhamara which ruined the taste and their hummus was bland. Unfortunately I have been to Damas and petit Alep but this it didn't quite meet the same standard. Quantities are generous and service is very attentive (or a bit too attentive with the waiter that kept passing by our table back and forth every 30 seconds)! If you're in Laval and craving middle eastern food (but not too picky) and have a family or a big group this could be a decent spot

Easy. Five stars. Really truly. My colleague wanted to grab a meal in Laval and this spot showed up strong on both Yelp and another online review platform that I consulted. The food sounded tasty and I have never tried Syrian food so I was intrigued. Coming in to the parking lot around 7pm on Friday the place was busy. It felt like a community spot with lots of families and large familial feeling groups. It gave the space an inviting ambiance. We sat down at a table that was both comfortably large for us and comfortably spaces from the others. Throughout the evening the diners were lively but not too loud. For food, I saw suggestions of the hummus with beef, and the Syrian beef tartar so we got those. Then the waiter suggest something from the meat section. I didn't see what it was but we agreed. Everything had such beautiful delicate and balanced flavor profiles. The massive meat dish was beautiful and tasty. Service was attentive throughout with water constantly being filled (maybe that is just a Montreal thing though). Decor was not overdone and yet very thoughtful and playful. I will be back here again because it was some of the tastiest food I have had in a log time and it is well worth the trip out to Laval for you city folk. I was blown away by everything we tried and can't wait to try more.

Hands down, the BEST restaurant we visited during our Montreal trip. We were in Canada visiting my sister-in-law and her family, who were recently settled here from Syria, and to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted to find a place as authentic as possible as this group is very particular about Syrian cuisine; very little meets their standards. Not the case here! We ordered the Beroya Tasting special since we were a group of 10. EVERYTHING was spectacular. The fattoush was crispy and tangy. The hummus and baba ganouj were perfect. The kibbeh was the star, everyone loved them. We also had Habret Samak, a dish none of us had before and really liked. Also included were falafel, labneh, moutabal (my favorite) mohamara, cheese burek, yalanji, tabouleh, chicken and meat kabobs. For dessert they brought out Ghazal Banat, a shredded halawa with rose water and pistachio ice-cream. Delicious! Unfortunately, we were so stuffed we couldn't finish those. Everyone raved about the food well into the next day. Our server, George, was great; very friendly and on top of things. We truly could not have been happier with our experience, my husband said it was one of his best birthdays!

The best restaurant in the greater Montreal area for Mediterranean and Syrian/Lebanese food. Very authentic fine cuisine with consistently high quality fresh prepared food. I tried most of the menu and they're all delicious from the meza to the main plates to the desert. You cannot go wrong with anything at Beroya. For people who want to try a bit of everything, I recommend ordering "degustation Beroya" that has hot and cold mezze, mixed grill platter, and desert. Cold mezza include hummus, baba ghannoug, mhamara, labneh among others. Hot mezza include kibbeh, cheese rolls, etc. The mixed grill include kafta, chicken, and filet. For those who like the kibbeh nayyeh, they will like it at Beroya. It's so tasty with the right spices! For desert, halawit jibn is a favorite. The place can accommodate large parties. The staff is so friendly and they have live amazing oriental music on Friday and Saturday night (not sure about other weeknights). It's so popular that it's fully packed on most days of the week, especially the weekends. I recommend calling in to make a reservation or to make sure that they can accommodate you before showing up. Consistency of the high quality food is one of the factors that will make Beroya your destination for all your gatherings.

I'm giving them Five stars and if I have five more I will give them to you because you are amazing. The best food I've had in Canada!! This is a Syrian restaurant. Because my parents are Arabic and also from Syria I know exactly how well prepared this food was. So fresh, with amazing ingredients, exquisite service, impecable seating area, nice bar, and pretty decorations. We started with some appetizers and the hummus was so delicious! They put some steak on top let me tell you that it was soooo tender, practically melting in your mouth. Then we have raw kibbe and it was beyond amazing, soft, tasty, and with a gorgeous color. My mom has visited this place before many times she always talks about it. When I finally tried it I completely understand why my parents love it so much. The service was outstanding, making sure everything run smooth and also we had entertainment; a guy God playing live an Arabic instrument. Such a nice ambiance! Beroya you were fabulous and I can't wait to go back and enjoy your food again you were the best for me!!!

What more you can expect from an authentic Syrian restaurant were the interior design give that sense of old Damascus and the food just refresh your memory of your mom cooking. Highly recommend it for couples or big group as the service was great especially if get Chris to be your waitress and the food portions are well balanced to ensure your satisfaction. Just to be clear, Syrian cuisine it overlaps with the Turkish and the Greek cuisines but certainly bring it's full zest to the equation so have fun and enjoy a mouth watering experience.

Went back again and my husband was just as blown away as I was on my first visit. Food was all delicious, I highly recommend the mohammara, it is a tad spicier and thicker than the other ones I have had but oh so good. We also had virgin mojitos which were not as sweet as I would have expected and the lime really came through, so I'd maybe ask for a little more syrup in my drink if I ever ordered it again. Their garlic sauce does not have as strong of a garlic flavor as most other Lebanese restaurants. I was looking forward to trying a dessert but I am not a fan of rose water, and after discussing dessert options with the waitress, they have rose water in all of their desserts except the date cookie which I have all the time and didn't want to try. This time, we visited on a Friday night and they had a man playing live music which was really nice to listen to. The service is fast and efficient, just maybe not as friendly and warm as other restaurants but that is really my only criticism.

Dessert - ice cream with cotton candy and pistachios on top! So yum!

It was my second time at this restaurant. The first time was with my boyfriend and my two brothers. We got the group menu and I added a lentil soup. The soup was so good. we were all so full and had to bring food home. On Saturday there is a band that plays Arabic music. It's a nice family restaurant. Last night we came with 8 colleagues and we got the group menu that is not on the menu. The one on the menu is for people not familiar wit the resto but apparently there's a secret group menu which is basically the same thing except that they add the kibbé neyeh (raw beef with raw onion and mint in the side) and remove the beet salad. The beet salad was actually very good. The first time we came we added the kibbé neyeh to the group menu because it's my favorite Syrian dish. It's a must if you like raw meat! It's so affordable! $79 plus tax for two people for the tasting menu and it's a lot of food! You start with hummus, baba ganoush, mohammara (which is a red pepper purée) , pita bread, and vine leaves. This restaurant has the best fattoush salad I've ever had. It comes with that Arabic stringy cheese on top. So good! Then you get the kibbé neyeh , cheese rolls, sujuk rolls (minced meet fried roll). Honestly I would have been good eating just the aforementioned items but then came the meat. You can't not eat the meat. I was already so full but it was worth it! The chicken is juicy and the filet mignon was so good. It also comes with pita bread with minced meat inside. So filling! Lastly came dessert! Vanilla ice cream with white cotton candy and pistachios. I could have ate it all by myself. Not too sweet at all. I will definitely be back. If you are a big group and in the mood for Arabic food, you should definitely go check it out!

Loved the food here! And loved the live music. Very nice restaurant very clean and looks rich and is a very lively place. The food was delicious and they bring out mixed nuts to you when you get seated. A couple of the meza's were pretty oily, so if you don't like dry food, you'll love this place!

A new Syrian themed resto opened up in Laval and after accumulating a few favorable reviews a group of us visited it to see what it was all about. So here's the rundown : AMBIANCE : A few restos operated here the last few years and failed. Pylos was very Greek themed so when I walked in I was expecting it to be different but they really re-hauled the place to suit their needs. First thing I noticed were the cubicles, they are gone and a lot of big long tables were put in. The resto is clean, modern feeling with a distinct Arabic theme. The quality of decorations is very nice and aesthetic pleasing, all in all, impressive layout! SERVICE : Since we got here on Saturday night it was relatively packed with a lot of large families celebrating events (thus the big tables!!). This resto is family friendly, so expect a lot of kids running around but there are areas for adults only. You can expect a lot of little legs running about in white dresses and tiny tuxes. Another thing to note is there were a lot of people here thus it made the experience a bit difficult to enjoy since it was soooooo loud from everyone talking. What didn't help was the really loud Arabic music blaring over us on top of that which I didn't feel it was necessary at all. Having a conversation at our own table required you to speak very loudly and the relief was welcomed when I left the resto. My poor ears. The wait staff is friendly albeit somewhat passive. Speed was slow during the entire experience so expect to be here 2-3 hours for a dining experience. Extra wait staff on hand would certainly help as they were very busy! Notching down some points for only one water refill during my 2+ hour stay and it was only refilled nearly the end of the visit. Furthermore, we didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks/food/etc. This requires attention. Chasing waiters is not my type of preferred activity, so that area definitely needs improvement. FOOD : Let's talk about the food! If you haven't eaten Syrian, it's a must as the experience is palpable. It doesn't differ too greatly if you've eaten Lebanese in the past... and I LOVE Lebanese food. Here's what I experienced and my rating per plate. PIta Bread - (5 stars) Damn!!!! I love hot pita bread and I love how it looks like a big balloon of soft pita dough that somehow loves to find its way down your gullet. Yummy! Fattouch - (4 stars) Mixed fresh vegetables and fried pita served with vinegar and pomegranate molasses seasoned with sumac. Salad-like shavings on top of the salad was nice. Lacked the acidic kick at the end of each bite I've grown to love eating this type of salad over the last few decades but hey.... still very good. Sujuk rolls - (4 stars) Seasoned Minced meat with Syrian spices fried with pita bread. This was definitely a new experience for me as I'm used to Sujuk to be wet-like bowls with a dry spicy taste. The appetizer experience was welcomed and tasty. Cheese rolls - (5 stars) Cheese baladi rolled in a crispy dough. Absolutely a must try, delicious!!! Imagine a fried egg roll filled with decadent cheese. Fries - (2 stars) Garlic potatoes cut into small cubes with a garlic soup-like sauce. Potatoes were decent but the garlicky taste was weak, the soup-like mixture at the bottom made the potatoes at the bottom obviously mushy. Forgettable. Chiche-taouk - (3 stars) Chicken marinated in our homemade sauce grilled on charcoal. The chicken was good, enjoyed the spices but it seems either Beroya can't do garlic right or the mixture Syrian cuisine uses for garlic is not for me. Garlic was weaksauce. Very creamy, did not taste the right amount of garlic. Average plate. Halaewt el Jiben - (4 stars) Semolina and cheese pastry stuffed with Cream (achta) served with pistachios and sugar syrup. Very tasty and I always get sad when my plate is empty. Bouza & Ghazel el Banat - (4 stars) Ice cream served with cotton candy and pistachios. The cotton candy looks weird at first since it looks like dog hair but it's quite tasty. Ice cream is not the conventional kind and it's an acquired taste. I liked it Aryan (2 stars) - Yogurt mint drink. Small serving with almost no mint, didn't feel right for me, forgettable. Wanted to try some falafel but they were out.... at 6 PM? I'm not a fan of things being on menus which you can't order.... also no olive plates, correct that please. PRICE : We tried several plates and the final price tag divided among us made it an affordable experience ($35 each). Definitely recommend the hot and cold mezzes with a bunch of friends. They have a nice menu where you can order a number of items for $79 (dinner for 2) but we didn't feel inclined to order from the cold mezze. Value here isn't excellent but still pretty good. CONCLUSION : 4 stars. I was concerned about a few menu items but I'm just picky about my garlic stuff (I'm a garlic snob?) but overall it's a good experience to try at least once. If you like Lebanese well.... try Syrian and bring friends!

It was fairly quiet, the service was prompt and responsive, although our server missed our order for the hummus and bread platter, so missed out on that. The decor and ambiance matched the Syrian cuisine. The overall prices were about $$ to $$$, depending on the entree. Here's what we ordered: Hibiscus Sipper (8/10) - a refreshing cocktail on gin and hibiscus. It was a bit on the tart side but a good drink that I enjoyed. Shish Borek (9/10) - lamb dumplings in a sheep milk yogurt. Expertly made and so delicious. One of the many highlights of our meal. Rack of Lamb (10/10) - an amazing rack of lamb, cooked with flavorful spices with a nice crispy light char that made for a fantastic first bite! The entree came with an assortment of vegetables Batata Harra (10/10) - spicy potatoes with a bit of lemon and coriander. It came out hot and fresh and was just the right amount of crispy on the outside and light and fluffy potato inside. Kunafa (8/10) - a dessert made of sheep milk cheese and pistachios. It was served warm, very rich and sweet. Overall, we were happy we visited and had an amazing meal at Damas!

I went there with my wife and kids on a weekend afternoon, the place was not crowded but it had around 4-5 tables. The location is not really ideal and it is in an industrial area but I thought I should give it a chance as a friend of mine told me about it. Atmosphere: it is a family friendly place and the decor is nice, if you are with kids then you are on the safe side (parents know what I mean). With a Syrian style / traditional atmosphere and wonderful traditional Syrian music that sets a beautiful mood. Food: it was really nice and tasted, some plates were wonderful however I would have preferred if some other plates were a bit bigger compared to the price. I guess the dishes were very tasty that we wanted more. I have tried a lot of Arabic restaurants and I can honestly say that this is a place that would be in the "Top 10" list. Value / Money: as mentioned before some plates would be better if they were bigger... but in general it is a little bit over priced, however the food is tasty and it balances things. Service: this is the only reason that I did not give the place a 5-star rating. The server was very friendly and nice, however the overall service was slow, we waited a bit for the menus, for the food and for the bread (which was not as fresh as I hoped it would be) I would definitely go back again there and I hope I would update my review then. I surely hope it would have a 5star service and again the portions should be slightly more. I would recommend it

I would recommend this for groups of four or more so you can try many things -- they're fairly accommodating with tailoring dishes ala carte vs one person entrees and absolutely everything I ate here was delicious. Flavorful and spicy (not necessarily hot) in the best ways, nothing tasted showy or try-hard. The stand outs were the vegan platter (just everything was delicious, and I'm not vegan) and the Chicken Taouck (marinated in a garlic and pomegranate molasses sauce that was just brilliant). The lamb and shrimp skewers were also stand out but a little more basic (not a problem for me, I loved both). I wish I could have tried even more but we were stuffed and satisfied as is. My one complaint, and this could be a bonus for others, was they are fairly pushy on trying to sell you on letting them curate a tasting menu for you. When I asked the waitress if she had any favorite dishes she wouldn't even humor me -- do the fixed menu and you'll find out. Sorry, but that's just not my style! I could see how that might work if you've never had this kinda food and this all feels super foreign, but (and I don't pretend to be an expert in Syrian or Armenian cuisine by any means) it felt a little overtly up-selly to me. In the end we chose our own way and had a delicious meal anyhow. Would absolutely come back next time I'm in town.
