Picking out the car was quick and easy. I told my salesman how much I wanted to pay, and what kind of truck I was looking for. Test drove a couple and finally settled on a used Ram 1500 in my price range. Awesome. Finally got a truck.
Heres where they lose stars. Signed all the paperwork on a Friday, was told it "should" be ready on Monday, as they needed to go through it mechanically and they were going to detail the car. Salesman said he would call me to let me know. Monday came and went and I never heard from them. Tuesday, I called and left a message requesting a call back. Never got one. Called again Wednesday and was able to get a hold of my salesman. I was informed they needed to order "4-5 small parts for the power steering" and it should be done Thursday or Friday. Of course, Thursday and Friday came and went without them calling me. Saturday, I called again and left a message requesting a call back. Guess what? No call back. Mind you, the truck is registered to me and I'm driving my trade in around with their dealer plates. At this point, I was so frustrated, I actually drove up there to confront my salesman. When I got up there, he informed me the parts haven't come in yet and that "hopefully", it would be done Monday. Finally, Monday evening, he called me and told me it was ready, but it failed emission inspection because they put a new battery in it (which I actually think they just recharged, not replaced) and the system needed 50 miles to reset.
I finally pick the truck up on Tuesday, almost a week and a half after signing all the paperwork. My salesman said they washed it and "cleaned it up" and explained that I would need to drive back up to the dealership to get the truck re-inspected (mind you, the dealership is a 30 min drive from where I live). Okay, I think. Whatever. I finally have my truck. When I get in the truck, I notice dust and dirt on the center console and on the dash. Obviously, they didn't "detail" it, like they said they would, instead it looks like they just ran the outside through a car wash. They also only gave me a half tank of gas. I figured a full tank wouldn't hurt, seeing as I waited a week and a half for it and practically had to chase down my salesman as he was allergic to calling me back.
Now it gets even more irritating. As I'm leaving the dealership. I notice a "chirping" coming from the engine. I'm not really a novice when it comes to vehicle maintenance, so I recognize it as the serpentine belt slipping. I optimistically hoped it was just something that would go away on its own. Of course, stupid me for not turning around and bringing it right back. Obviously the mechanics heard the noise when they drove the truck after working on it and my salesman heard it when he pulled the truck out front for me when I picked it up. The next morning I go to leave for work and the noise was still there and getting louder. I yet again try and call my salesman, but again get his voicemail. I leave a message. Three hours later, I still haven't heard back. I'm beyond mad now and immediately drive to the dealership, as it seemed the only way I can talk to my salesman is if I confront him face to face.
I get to the dealership and find my salesman. First thing he says is "Oh hey, got your message!" Oh yea? Why no call back? Anyway, I tell him the problem and he makes me an appointment for 9am the following morning. I told him I was going to wait while they work on the truck, hoping that would speed them along a little bit.
I get there at 9 the following morning and they confirm it needs a new belt. Guess what they say next? "It's going to be $83.50." I immediately tell them that I've literally owned the truck for under 48 hours and when I first heard the noise, I owned it for less than 30 minutes. Guess what the service rep says?! "I know, its frustrating", implying that I'll still have to pay for the repair. So I tell her that I'm going to go talk to my salesman, as there was no way I was paying for something that should have been fixed before I picked up the truck. Unfortunately, my salesman was busy with a customer. I tell the service rep to do the repair, but I wouldn't be paying until I talked to my salesman. My blood is boiling at this point. After about an hour, the service rep calls me back to the counter and requests I talk to her outside. Outside, she tells me the truck is done and that they "don't want any hard feelings" and that the repair was free. I believe the exact words she used was that the dealership was going to "eat the cost of the repair", which made me laugh because the repair should have been done before I even picked the truck up! They also re-inspected the truck, at my request. I immediately took my keys and left, never to go back again.
Hell will freeze over before I bring my truck back there for service. Funny how the sale went so smoothly, but the whole me getting the truck when a rough as possible. read more
