It's a great park to bring your dog. It's quite big and spacious so you can get a nice walk in and get your steps for the day. My dog had a lot of fun. We had a fun photo shoot with him. Impress your date or your out-of-town guests by taking them to the Colorado Continental Divide…read morelandmark. You may have heard it one too many times, or not at all, but the Colorado Continental Divide means that on the east of the Continental Divide all the rivers flow toward the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west of the divide the rivers flows toward the Pacific Ocean. In Colorado, residents are not as familiar with this thing called water, so this fact to us is not only interesting, but a moment to make us feel smart... And offer you one of those facts that you are sure to hear on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" The divide is a fun visit any time of the year, but it is at almost 12,000 feet, so if your guest or date is already feeling ill, dizzy, sleepy or grumpy, and it is not from you, then it might not be good to surprise them up past here which is above tree-line. When you get up to the monument, you can take a walk along a trail that looks like it goes on-and-on forever, but this is high mountain hiking, so don't expect there to be many tree stumps to take a seat on... And in the summer, or any season for that matter, storms can roll in faster then you can roll your Spanish rrrr's , so only hike if you are prepared. Note: The hike is not a loop.... If I am correct, it is about 3 miles long... But if you are new to hiking, keep an eye on where you started and head back after a little while to avoid rolling down the mountain and having to explain to people that you thought you were on a survivor game show. (Note: If you are on a date, do not tell you her that you are on a survivor game show and you have to pretend like this is your last day on earth... That might seem like a good pick up line , but trust me, when you are dehydrated and sun scorched, you wont be getting any high mountain booty any time soon, so take my advice and bring extra water and energy food.) * Star one for water that flows ** Way up there star two is for the high altitude and treeless mountain tops *** Look at me now star three is for perfect picture opportunity ****Isn't this elevation romantic star four is for a creative date idea or not so romantic out-of-town guest site ***** Don't forget to breath star five is for a long hike that is a great stretch during long car rides

It felt really safe like not a ton of steep drop offs that we had to worry about. My son had an absolute blast here! Probably good to come early if you have young kids because the longer we stayed more big kids came and they were (understandably) a little wild! This is a small neighborhood park often locally referred to as "the pirate park" due to the pirate…read moreship toddler play structure. It has swings, a sand pit with a lil shade, a toddler & big kid play structure, a tennis court and bathrooms. There are a few benches to sit on too. The ground cover is a mix if bark & foam. There is grass surrounding the playground but no fence. The street is close by but not scary close so your littles won't stress you out running towards it. Another thing, the water is not in viewable distance to the playground. I was worried that my kid would see it and run for it, but you can't really see it from the playground. There is a pathway leading from the park to walk along the lake there, so if you want to get in some exercise its good. Parking is on the street, no private lot.

This park is a neighborhood treat. Surrounded by houses all around except one side that faces…read morecentral elementary. Lots if great nooks and crannies for all ages to cavort and play in. Great street parking on all sides of the park. Loads of trees everywhere dropping twigs, pine cones and pods making it a great nature treasure hunt. In summer this will be a wonderful place that is shaded from the afternoon sun. Two big play structures are side by side, great for toddlers and older kids. They have one swing set that has 2 each of big kids swings and baby seat swings. The playground has a sandy type base that had lots of kids having a great time digging in with their sand toys. There are a few scattered benches around but have a picnic blanket ready just in case! If its busy you will want a place to park it. They do have a unisex bathroom but its closed during different times of the year, and there is not another one around so that is important to know. There are two group picnic table areas, with a nice shaded roof on them. I think you can reserve them thru the city website otherwise first come, first served. Overall, super nice park. Lots of people from the neighborhood out walking their dogs, and families hanging out. We will definitely be returning!!
