I FOUND MYSELF RESPONSIBLE FOR MEDICAL BILLS!!! I had a car accident a year and a half ago and hired Bertoldo to represent me. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. * After I signed, I received no updates for five months. * It took four months for him to send me to a pain relief doctor. The first doctor only worked Thursdays before 5 p.m., which didn't fit my schedule. The chiropractor showed me multiple attempts (four from their office and three from me) to contact Bertoldo's office before they finally approved a change. Even the doctor was surprised at the delay, since accident victims are usually seen immediately. * When my doctor recommended an MRI, Bertoldo's office dragged their feet again. I called repeatedly, and he even missed two scheduled phone call appointments with me, which I found extremely disrespectful. * Eventually, Bertoldo emailed me saying the MRI "wouldn't help my case." He insisted I drive to his office for an in-person meeting. Given his repeated failure to honor phone calls, I refused, saying I would only discuss matters by phone. Instead of apologizing or trying to rebuild trust, he became upset and dismissed me as a client. That's when things got worse: * During our initial consultation, he assured me I would never have to pay medical bills out of pocket. But after dismissing me, he told MEDICAL PROVIDERS TO FORWARD THEIRS BILLS DIRECT TO ME, leaving me responsible. * He had also made me believe my case wasn't strong and that I'd be unlikely to get full compensation. He even tried to pressure me into fixing cosmetic damage to my car, saying I'd otherwise receive very little. Thankfully, I found a new lawyer. With them, I received the maximum possible compensation without repairing my car. This proved everything Bertoldo told me was wrong. To make matters worse, he later attempted to take part of my settlement, even though I had kept the email he personally sent releasing me and any future lawyer from his fee. In summary, this firm showed a lack of communication, professionalism, and honesty throughout my case. I was disappointed that my lawyer, Javier, was nearly impossible to reach after our initial meeting. I don't feel he was professional in returning calls, arriving to court in a timely matter, or being open with me on the process. At one point, we were reaching a deadline to appeal a decision - I called Javier's office 2-3 a week for over a month trying to reach him. It was only after the deadline for appealing the claim's refusal was passed that my call was responded to, making the appeal impossible. That was a very underhanded thing to do. I was also told I would receive a reimbursement for my out of pocket medical bills for visiting the specialist that Javier directed me to go to: he had assured me I would get this money back, even if my case was ultimately denied. In the end, 2 years later once my case was settled, I was told the money wouldn't be refunded. I wasted a lot of time, energy, and money, only to be disappointment again and again. I was ignored, and I felt that my case wasn't important enough for him to arrive on time or keep me in the loop of decision making. I needed a law firm to represent me in a workmen compensation case. I contacted this firm. We agreed they would represent me in my case. After we filled ou the paperwork. I was contacted by them and the state of Nevada for several referrals to doctors. I called the firm on several occasions to get status of the case and could not get anyone to call me back. I was never told by this firm that the case had been settled or was still pending. No word from them at all. I checked on line with company that I worked for and everything has been wiped out. HORRIBLE! RUN from this company!! ESPECIALLY Mr. Bertoldo! I'm STILL angry after all this time! I was a client, then was put off for YEARS while they were 'supposedly' working on my case! NOPE! He actually postponed my case PAST the 5 year statue without my knowledge! It started with a work injury as most accidents do, I picked this firm because of a friends advice. Bad move on my part I never met Javier my lawyer until it was time for him to get his cut of my settlement and the paralegal assigned to my case never new correct details and complained when I complained about her not getting my meds, ttd or correct doctor appointments. Also this paralegal never returned my calls or emails until at least a week later I will never use this firm again and I will advise anyone who asks me to never use them. Eventually I found another lawyer to finish my case it cost me more in the end but making sure Javier didn't receive it was worth me losing it to a much better lawyer. I'm sure in Nevada as a "right to work state" employees injured on the job need honest, intelligent and competent lawyers and this lawyer is not capable of those qualities read more

In Jan 2016 I was a victim of a hit and run accident that occurred at Town Square in Las Vegas. The driver of the other car just ran away from the scene. Few hours after the appointment I was already scheduled with a MD, X-rays & MRI, Chiropractic, my car was in a collision shop and I had a rental. I had nothing to worry about, just I had to take my time to recover. The harassment from the insurance agency stopped right away. John and Eli stayed in touch through the whole process and kept me posted for each step we were going thru. I don't understand how I could have hired the worst lawyer on the planet...John Bertoldo...and yet other reviews think he's the best!! Here was my experience... I was in a very bad auto accident 9/2014. A woman ran a stop sign doing 35 and hit me. After meeting with John Bertoldo of Benson, Bertoldo, Baker & Carter, he assured me "it was a high value case" and would hire an accident reconstructionist to prove it. Months and months went by & I didn't hear from Mr. Bertoldo so I figured he was working on my case. I began calling leaving message after message to get an update and got no response. Finally I was able to make an appointment and at the appointment he gave me a sob story about how overwhelmed he was because his partner was on medical leave and that after holding onto my case for a year already with doing absolutely nothing on it would have to withdraw. This meeting was in September 2015. Months later I received a disk with all of my case info/correspondence with multiple letters from my auto insurance stating that they have made numerous attempts to reach Mr. Bertoldo to get all my medical bills and were going to settle my case in favor of the 'at fault' driver since they received no statements from me and my lawyer failed to respond to every phone call/letter they sent him to get my statement of the accident. OMG!! I was initially given 10% of the fault & because he failed to do the job in which he was hired, I got 100% at fault!! The settlement was paid out in June 2015, months before I had the meeting with Mr. Bertoldo and he said NOTHING about any of this!! How can a lawyer do this to their client and get away with it? I walked away with nothing but a stack of unpaid medical bills and injuries that I will now have for the rest of my life including nerve damage. To add insult to injury, when I discovered this, I tried contacting my insurance company and they wouldn't talk to me because they never received a withdrawal letter from him. I left Mr. Bertoldo several messages to send the withdrawal letter and once again...was met with silence!! MR. BERTOLDO AND HIS CRAPPY LAW FIRM ARE THE WORST EVER AND SHOULD BE DISBARRED!! If I didn't know any better I would think that it was all a conspiracy with the at fault driver to screw me over!! I could've negotiated a settlement for myself and came out with something instead of absolutely nothing and now I have a wreck on my record. You'll be sorry if you ever hire them!!
