Class. Pinoche. Elegance. We were recommended Bert's by a nearby bar keep. We were steered in the right direction, that is assured. We walked in to Bert's with low expectation though, It was a Monday after all. But despite the slow day of the week, there was a duo on stage, in mid-song with a girl with a sultry voice, singing a standard. It was beautiful. we relaxed into a booth and ordered a couple classic beverages on the drink menu and chatted. The lighting was dim, the interior was in warm colors. Everything contributed to a very relaxed blues and jazz feel. One of the next songs they did was a big band tune, but a chill jazz version. that made me think of a Frank Sinatra song and another. At the break I asked if they could do "You make me feel so young". "And La Vie in Rose". She didn't really know the song but she said she would read the lyrics a bit. Boom, next set, they sang both! I was over joyed by the effort, and how great she could sing. This place is great, and I can definitely tell you the duo on Mondays is groovy for sure.

Elegant, classy and extravagant - when the doors swing open at Berts Jazz Bar you'll feel like you've been teleported to 1930's NYC rather than Belfast. The sweet sax will be music to your ears and will give you a spring in your step and keep you smiling as you wait at the always-busy bar. There's nowhere else in Belfast quite like Berts. It exudes class and style, Berts is the perfect place to end an evening. Their cocktail selection is unmatched - the menu is more of a novel. One thing to note is the serving staff are real professionals - they take their time over cocktails and it shows in both taste and presentation. I went for the Mai Tai and was almost to afraid to drink because I wanted to preserve it's beauty. On a Friday or Saturday Evening you may struggle to find seats inside but don't worry there's is a nice heated seating area outside where you can watch the world go by whilst sipping on sublime cocktail.

I visited Bert's Jazz Bar on Saturday night and I was very impressed - this place is definitely worth a visit. There wasn't any free tables but we did manage to get seats outside in heated seating area. This did not put us off as we could still hear the jazz music playing. I opted for the French Martini and it was the best French Martini I've ever tasted (and I've drank a lot of them). The cocktails are expensive but definitely worth it!

Cocktail joy awaits behind these doors...

I always feel underdressed in Berts. Not that I'm a scruff, or that they have a strict door policy (not football tops I'd imagine), but that it feels so glamorous and luxurious I should be in a ball gown. Or more likely a charleston frock. It is all polished brass and velvet, with a small stage one end for the jazz and the bar glitters all enticingly. And so it should, this place ain't cheap, no sir. The cocktails, even though they are undoubtedly lovely will set you back almost 20 quid for two. Yes, the sexy waiter might bring them over to your table, and yes there are breadsticks to nibble on as you listen to some pretty pleasant music, but at those sort of prices I won't be staying long, but if someone else is paying mine's an espresso martini...

This is a cosy classy place! It has a pleasant ambience and some great background Jazz playing. I love my cocktails and they have an extensive list available. Quite pricey though so take it easy! We just stopped by for a drink and they had some grissini placed on the table. I like to have something to nibble with a drink. Would love to try here for food as it's quite intimate and would be great with a few of the girls or the other half for a civilised night out.

The Small Batch was perfectly delicious!

Best cocktail bar we tried in Ireland. The service was also great with really friendly bartenders.

Berts is an experience...somewhere I have only been to celebrate birthdays..a real treat!! Was here for my friends birthday last year and we went back again this year! Last year we went for the dinner sitting..it was a lovely way to celebrate..dinner, cocktails & Jazz! I shared the charcuterie board & then the chateaubriand...both were amazing.. I could have ate them both to myself...we accompanied this with a lovely Rioja.. The others at the table enjoyed steaks, Camembert & a few little sides too.. The food came out on time & it was very relaxing to have the Jazz in the background too.. This particular night the service was good, the guy had great knowledge of the menu & was very helpful. Most recently we decided to try their Brunch menu. The menu is quite good in that you can have the brunch (an item off the brunch menu & a cocktail for £15) or you can eat from the lunch menu also. Some of us went for the offer & others ordered from the main menu.. Again the waiter knew the menu well & was attentive..I had the eggs Benedict on this occasion & it was very nice but I have had nicer..I'm being very harsh as Berts belongs to the merchant so was expecting the bling of a 5 star meal (but was nice that it wasn't too in your face!) I had the Bloody Mary which was amazing!! We then tried the cocktail of the month which was the barmans creation.. "The Playright" a gin one in memory of our own Brian Friel.. It was amazing and they should totally add this to their cocktail list!! The service charge is automatically added to the bill..which is a bit annoying as a few tables were left with their plates not cleared even though the customers had gone..again not 5 star service. But saying that I will be back for either the brunch or dinner menu..will have to find something to celebrate!

Delicious food, opulent surroundings and an accompanyment of live jazz made our recent trip to Bert's just as special as it needed to be. Treating my partner for his birthday, we went all in and ordered the £60 chateaubriand. The meat was so succulent that the sauces served along with it went mostly untouched and it was a sufficient portion between two. The baked camembert starter and chocolate fondue to finish were also fun for a couple sharing. Add on drinks to that and it's definitely special occasion pricing here but the experience is worth it. Weekday evenings aren't excessively busy either which made for faultless service.

Since we had already had lunch we sat at the bar for a beer. We were greeted by a nice bartender. We told her we were looking for either a beer or cider. There are a few tables outside to enjoy the weather and a few tables inside. The bar area downstairs is small with quite a sizable collection of bras hanging from the ceiling. We ordered a Hilden Belfast Blonde and a Small Axe Session IPA. It wasn't super busy so talked to the bartender about travel. As another bartender walked in we also discussed beer and cocktails. He told us that flavored Gins were popular. He let us smell a few of the popular ones since we are not big gin drinkers. Decided to stop in the ladies room before leaving and found an interesting group of old photos while there. We didn't try any food but loved the beer and cocktail options and really enjoyed talking to both the bartenders. Stop by and check it out.

For me the darkness adds to the smoking club feeling of Ritas, it kind of feels underground. The decor is definitely vintage with a geisha feel, there's loads of hanging Japanese umbrellas and framed geisha girls. The seating is extremely comfortable, if you get plonked in one of their huge, velvet armchairs that might be you settled for the night. For me, the most impressive thing about Ritas is the cocktails and the staff. I actually commented on Saturday evening that no matter how busy the bar is the staff put the same care and detail in to their creations. I say 'creations' because these really are works of art. I ordered a French Martini for Stacey K and the mixologist seemed to be completely zoned in on making the drink, it was almost as if the 30 other people clambering over the bar didn't exist. I love this attention to detail. They serve a good range of beers as well as having an extensive cocktail list. Blue Moon on tap is always a winner for me. The Linen Quarter is absolutely thriving and in truth it's down to the swanky elegance of Ritas, The Perch and Sweet Afton. I've been to each of these bars a good few times and never once have I experienced any sort of drunken trouble. There's a relaxing atmosphere in all these bars and I really think they highlight the new booming, bussling, vibrant Belfast.

Through Yelp, I had heard about The Perch that from the pictures looked like a cool place to grab a drink. Little did I realize how cool the bar really is when we made our way down this side street and discovered the entrance. The outdoor rooftop bar is located on the fifth floor in the historic Linen Quarter, which can be accessed through a series of twisting and turning hallways before reaching an old school sliding door lift, which one of the door people take you up. Upon reaching the rooftop, you certainly understand why the owners call the bar "The Perch" because it feels like a bird perch between the various bird perches hung over the bar and the overall decor that has an open-air approach, combined with both a 19th Century steampunk meets polynesian feel. Unlike most bars, The Perch only has in stock a few spirits on the shelves (whether this is due to the pandemic or the actual intent). But from my observation, there seems to be a purpose for this as they focus on making a handful of cocktails -- and making them well, they do. The Brambles was my favorite cocktail that was refreshing and delicious, while the Aperol Springs was tasty but strong. But having a couple of delightful drinks but us to a place of spiritual purity and understanding. Highly recommended if you're in town and looking for a cool and chill bar with a sweet ambiance and funky way to enter.

The space itself has a very long and interesting history, just over 40 seats have been cramped into that space. A couple tables have small glass walls to separate them and squeeze in more diners. And it's pretty loud. So loud, I can barely hear the sommelier describe her wines. There may have been music playing... but who can hear? There seems to be an attempt to elevate the bartender over the sommelier, with the menu encouraging the guests to try specialty cocktails instead of selecting whole bottles of wine. And the bartender's constant ice shaker only adds to the noise. The service is very relaxed, with servers in t-shirts and jeans, sneakers, paper napkins. And the servers seemed a bit inattentive, watching the chefs through the pass, not paying attention to guests' needs. Oh, and the server even wrote "thank you" on the printed bill... How kind.
