I was searching for a place for my french bulldog puppy to stay and socialize when he was younger and I was working long hours. He had several successful stays with them and even boarded with them before. In January, I had to go out of town for several days, and needed a place for my baby to stay. He is now a two year old, well adjusted pup, who has stayed and played in more than one playcare situation without issues. I dropped him off on a Thursday, healthy and happy. I got the call no pet owner wants to get on Friday morning... I could hear my dog in distress in the background as the staff member was trying to explain that he was "suddenly" in respiratory distress. He had been playing and "all of a sudden" seemed like he was struggling. I was in a panic, states away, as she was asking me what I would like her to do. It was tough to decide, only hearing and not seeing, the level of his condition by phone. She was about to offer him water, which is NOT something you should do when an frenchie is overheated and in distress. I asked her to keep him in a quiet space for a little bit and see if he was able to recover. She said she would call me back in about 30 minutes to see if he had improved. The next phone call I got was from an emergency vet, about 15 minutes later. Boulder was brought in (by the Fur Baby staff, without my knowledge), almost lifeless. According to the veterinary staff he was barely breathing and was turning blue. They called to get permission to intubate him in order to try to save his life. Over the next few hours I played phone tag with the vet as they told me the only thing that would save him was luck and prayers. Fortunately for us, the vet was top notch, and he was able to recover and eventually breathe on his own. We almost lost our happy, healthy 2 year old puppy....and we still don't know why. I know that my dog can overheat and struggle when he plays EXCESSIVELY for extended periods of time in very hot weather. He would have had to have been in distress and gone unnoticed for a considerable amount of time to end up in the condition he did. The women on the phone from Fur Baby's admitted that they know there were notes in his file that alerted staff to pay close attention, that he needed to limit his play time and level of play...but still, he ended up in distress. Although they refunded the remainder of the days he didn't stay (upon MY request), there was no other follow up to check on the welfare of my dog, no explanation or apology for what happened, and a very large vet bill to pay. Check the google reviews...other pet owners were not as fortunate and lost their dogs in similar unexplained incidents. I understand that issues arise, things happen, but please think carefully about putting your dog in a large "playcare" situation while you are away! Especially dogs that require expert care!

After being dropped off at Square Dog Ranch a couple hours later Cathy said dog has a high fever. I had no idea. she contacted me and went to emergency vet. Clyde has a serious ear infection and the vets put a drain in his ear and Cathy would look after it. She also had him recheck before we got home. Week later we take him for his last recheck and he is doing wonderful. I will forward be grateful for the love and care Cathy and her crew gave my dog.

We took ill cat to the animal hospital. There we learned our cat had an enlarged heart and needed to be on meds. We went for a follow up a week later and they demanded we take the cat off the heart meds even though we told them the animal hospital stressed the cat needed to be on them. Two weeks later our cat passed away. Fast forward to today, chalk the first one up to honest mistake. This next mistake, unforgivable. My elderly cat (16 yo) came in due to a drop in weight. Concerned they did blood work and a host of other tests. They said the cat was just old and otherwise it was in "top health." A number of months pass and she slowly losses more energy and develops an eye infection. Again this place was unavailable to see my cat but could squeeze it in for an extra hundred bucks. I again am forced to take her to the animal hospital. There they look at her file and said not only does she most likely have CANCER, but her one lung is gone, and she has FAILING kidneys. Again, this isn't something they did tests for, this is something already in her file that Governors Animal Hospital REFUSED and NEGLECTED to ever tell me about. Don't take your animal here, they are not safe. They will lie to you, and they will charge you top dollar to do so.

Biggie knows the most important commands and obeys them while offleash. These commands are: sit, down, heel, come, place, and break. If I were you, I would definitely book with Quis --especially if you have a large dog that could be quite intimidating or problematic without proper training. Additionally, I board Biggie with Quis regularly when I go out of town, so I get the best of both worlds: boarding and training reinforcement. I am truly grateful for the tremendous training and care that Quis provides for my Biggie. My husband and I left town and placed my 3 year old Chocolate Labrador Retriever at Custom Canine Grooming & Boarding in Camden-Wyoming DE as a last minute decision. One of the reasons we left her there was because of the space they had for my dog to run. Her caretaker told me that my pup jumped their fence along with another dog not too long after I left her there and was missing for 2 hours. This seems to be an issue with this facility as I later found out. To contain my pup, she said she put her on a 26 foot tether. 20 days into her stay her caretaker contacted us very upset telling us Isabel is bleeding and asked if she was spayed. She is. So she took her to the vet with a severe UTI and she was put her on Antibiotics. The Vet told me my pup lost nearly 15 lbs since her last visit in April. The caretaker then said my pup wasn't eating much and she guesses she should have let her out of her kennel enclosure more often. You think? The caretaker also said my pup was chewing on the kennel enclosure. Are you kidding me? My pup was hungry. She gobbles up anything I give her and drinks alot of water. One thing she won't do is go in her kennel. Can you imagine holding it in for a long time? We were on our way home and the caretaker demanded we pay her. I had no problem with that so I sent her a payment through PayPal. She was very rude and told us she calls my pup names like "heifer" and "fatty". Shortly after that, her caretaker said if we don't pick her up by a certain day that she would "dispose of" of our dog. We immediately called the police when we hung up. When we picked up our pup, we didn't realize the severity of the weight loss until we put her harness on her and it wouldn't fit. She practically knocked the food out of my hands when I fed her evening meal. Poor pup. This place starved my dog. I gave them plenty of food to feed her. I was worried that they would run out. I was in regular contact with this boarding facility as certain circumstances caused her stay to be extended. I can't say anymore but if you love your pets like we do, please do not leave your loved ones here.

I feel the need to correct the misinformation contained in the reviews below…read more Yes, a dog unfortunately was able to get loose while being boarded here. The business owner has never stated otherwise and never said that they weren't responsible and were of course very remorseful that this accident occurred. Neighbors and businesses in the area were notified right away and everyone was out looking daily for Roxi. The comments about the owner of the business blaming the family and saying that they'd look the other way if their dog was seen were NOT made by the business owner. These comments were made by a neighbor (this is very easily proven by looking at the dog's owner's Facebook page and seeing that the poster's name is Marian, which is NOT the name of the owner of the business), but because of how Roxi's owner framed the post she made sharing screenshots of the comments, it makes them appear to be comments made by the business owner. While the business owner was out looking for Roxi on 07/08/17, she spoke to a neighbor who had seen a dog matching Roxi's description a couple of nights in a row. Roxi's owners were notified and told to bring her crate and some items from home so there would be familiar smells. She also told them to not call her name because the dog could take it negatively and think she's in trouble and not come to them. When they arrived, they were given the items of Roxi's she still had (leash/food), however, the crate wasn't brought along and it didn't appear that any of her items from home were brought either, but they said that they felt they'd be able to catch her. Unfortunately, the dog ran from them but she was ultimately caught by a local business owner and reunited with her family a couple of days later. I should also note that in regard to Roxi's owners continued comments about her not bringing up the topic of legal action being taken - The only reason the owner of Custom Canine mentioned her not being able to sue is because of the numerous comments on the dog owner's Facebook page telling her to sue and the owner saying "I hope it doesn't come to that." The contract signed by Roxi's owner specifically says that the owner of Custom Canine is not liable for any pets being lost. Roxi's owner is claiming that the contract doesn't say this, however, she can only go by what she remembers reading when she skimmed the contract she signed. It's been discovered that she no longer has her signed copy because she's reached out to a client of Custom Canine asking for a copy of the boarding contract.
