I have finally found a groomer/ kennel that can handle my German Shepherd (Mak). He is super "fear aggressive" and doesn't like many people. Best boarding is AMAZING. Not only did they take good care of my dog while I was on vacation, she worked with him the whole time to get him comfortable enough to bathe him. She was even able to cut his nails! This guy normally has to be put to sleep to have his nails trimmed! Lol Most places would have just kept him in his run and fed and watered him. Not here. I picked my baby up from Best Boarding in better shape than he arrived. I am soooo thankful to have a place I can trust to keep Mak while I'm away, AND to groom him and keep him handsome :) read more

We love Best Boarding! We have been taking our crazy Lucy there for almost 10'years. She loves it there!! When we started taking her there Jim would take her for walks and make sure our hyper dog was well taken care of. When she started having seizures, we told them. The owner Jennifer and Jim have been wonderful. They ask about her all the time and let us know she is okay when we have to leave her. We would not take her anywhere else. read more

Very disappointed! Driving up it seems nice, the staff appears friendly and knowledgeable, but don't be fooled. I dropped my baby off for a week and he came back skinny and scarred. Before seeing him I asked how it went because I had never boarded him before and I was assured that everything was fine. I even asked "Are you sure he's perfectly fine because I've boarded other dogs other places and they've come back with scabs and cuts" and I was assured by the owner that my beloved dog was absolutely perfect and cut free. I didn't notice in the craze of picking up my overly excited blur of fur but when I got home I saw that the top of my beloved baby's nose was missing and he looked like he hadn't eaten the entire time. I called and the owner was very condescending. She told me that my dog had been eating all week and who did I think she was, would she really not make sure he was eating? When I brought up the fact that my dogs nose was deeply cut she said that "kennel nose" is common (which it is). I asked her what she did to try to prevent it or to heal it because in a place like that infection is common and she said they did nothing but if I put soap and water on it it would be healed completely by morning. I asked her why she lied to me and told me my dog was fine Instead of being honest and letting me know his nose was cut like a professional and she gave me the runaround and refused to take accountability for what happened. Keep your pets away from this place. Upon walking in the place smells like they're trying too hard to mask dog odor. Dropped off our dog for two nights. When he came home he literally had diarrhea for a week and wouldn't eat. He's been boarded before and that's never ever happened. Besides the red eye he had but the diarrhea was out of control. Had to take him to the vet twice because it wasn't getting better. The Vet ran tests and concluded since nothing came back test wise it was from stress. When we tell him he is going to visit Jim Jennifer and the crew he gets so excited. The owner was extremely rude. Customers are treated like crap. If you're going to run a business at least treat people kindly even if you need to turn them away. Also, at least offer some suggestions or help. The owner wasn't helpful. She was simply mean. Don't know what kind of problems she has but she needs to deal with them or her business is going to suffer. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! If I could give less than one star I would!! Looks can be deceiving....the kennel is actually a very nice facility but doesn't seem like they actually care about the animals. Jennifer, the owner is all about money and not the welfare of your pet. My older dog came home with urine stains from his elbows down which means either they don't clean the kennels, are not letting them out regularly or both. When I confronted the gentleman that works there, he assured me they go out regularly and the kennels are maintained and told me the owner would call me...she never did. My dumbass decided to give them another try. During this time I questioned about the last time I boarded there and her response was "well that's why recommend (the $40) bath before they go home." I actually had an appt that afternoon with my groomer instead. Well I found out from a friend 2 days before drop-off this time that the kennel was having an issue with kennel cough. When I called Jennifer, she told me they haven't had a problem in 2-3 weeks and she "thinks it's gone". She also asked who told me and I said a friend and I also confirmed with my veterinary clinic. The next day, I called to cancel my reservation and she said "woooowwww, I called your vet clinic and Dr X is very upset with her staff for telling you anything negative." I reiterated it wasn't the clinic that told me but a friend (not associated with the clinic) but I did call my vet to verify if there have been problems at the kennel. And how dare she question the vet clinic for giving me the information that can affect my pets! She replied "Well, I'm sorry you feel that way, I'll cancel your reservation" and hung up! Super unprofessional! A proper response should have been something along the lines of "I understand your concerns, maybe we can work something out next time". I had heard she was rude but never experienced myself until now! I will NEVER go there again and caution anyone looking into this kennel. read more

I have a 4 month old puppy and my vet at VCA in Dover recommended this place.. we took him in on Saturday morning and picked him up Monday evening. . The Blond haired lady behind the counter was beyond rude! The gentleman brought my Dog out to my husband n he was so happy to see us he actually peed .. I was handed his bedding n told he never touched his new bone.. um ok this puppy of mine eats everything! So found that odd.. we get him to the car n he was acting skittish.. so unlike my rambunctious boy.. but then get him home n he had to be coaxed out of the car.. he was favoring is back leg.. my husband put him in the car n we headed to the vet.. they too noticed he was limping a bit. . Wouldn't jump in the car or onto my porch! This boy usually leaps! While we can't say for sure what happened I know he is on an anti inflammatory med.. he won't walk up to my bedroom he had to be carried! I can't bother calling because as rude as that lady was I'm sure they could care less :( I wouldn't recommend this place for any pet! read more

I usually do not like to write bad reviews for places unless I feel pretty strongly about it. I would not take my dog here. I think that the owner, I believe her name is Jennifer, is VERY rude. I had a situation that I will not mention on here, but I will say that once I told others that I was planning to bring my dog here, I heard several stories from other people telling me they did not like this place. I also heard from multiple people that the animals are not treated very well. My sister brought her dog there a few years ago and she said when he came back home, he was very jumpy and would not eat. She said he seemed scared. My sister also said that she thought the owner was very rude. I understand that some dogs get scared when they go to a kennel, but she has taken him to other kennels before and said that he had never acted like that before after leaving any other facility. He is a very, very well behaved dog. I've never seen him act like that either. I also spoke to someone else that is friends with someone that used to work there. She said her friend did not like the way they treated the animals there. That is saying a lot in my opinion. Someone that used to work there and was around the owner/animals first hand. It bothered her enough that she stopped working there. It is one thing if the owner is rude, but to hear that animals are leaving scared, and a former worker left because she did not like how the animals were treated, that is not okay. I was extremely surprised to read the negative reviews. My dog absolutely loves going to this kennel and I have been taking him there for over 7 years! The owner, Jennifer, has always gone out of her way to accommodate me and is extremely caring and compassionate, when I have had family emergencies requiring me to bring my dog at the last minute or leave him there longer than anticipated. Additionally, the manager, Jim, is absolutely wonderful! My dog gets so excited when I tell him we are going to visit him - - he almost knocked door a door to get to Jim! Jim walks my dog and gives him lots of attention. And then there's my dog's groomer, Ashley, as sweet and kind as can be! My dog also loves her and knows her name. This kennel may be a little more expensive than some, but it is always worth it for my dog to be somewhere he loves and for me to know that he will be loved and cared for, in return! All I have to say is Best Boarding is truly the best! read more
